    I can remember a day when I started trucking, I would’ve backed in 20ft from the dock and started breaking down pallets, and throwing the boxes in front of the door. You ordered a delivery, here it is, you can receive it the easy way, or the hard way. But you’re gonna receive it TODAY!

    I started running reefer in the late 70’s. For a couple years I didn’t exactly get rich. Then in the early 80’s, I knew a guy, that knew a guy at a major chemical manufacturer. All the sudden I had great paying loads, and more work than I could handle. It was a good hit to say the least, and carried me well into the 90’s.

  • @billunderwood8975
    @billunderwood8975 2 года назад +157

    Two main rules with a reefer ... always, always, always fill up the reefer fuel tank at every fuel stop, and adjust your rear-view so you can easily see the lights on the reefer unit, and watch it like a hawk.
    That being said, this is a typical day in the reefer world. The worst receivers, the worst brokers, and every single load will cost you something ... between time, lumpers, and "shortages" it will always cost you something. Now you know why a lot of us told you to avoid reefer like the plague 😂

      @Rob Moilanen I don't believe that I shat on reefer drivers at all. I happen to be one of them. I'm simply pointing out the hypocrisy of the grocery industry. If I walked into a receiver with a note stating my charges after two hours, they would be dumbfounded.

He would also be handy with his credit card for fuel. This is a kind gesture, but it is not a charity event. Does your insurance cover this event in case of misfortune? That kind of activity can go south really fast and get expensive.

    Props to you Justin for trying your damnest to make this happen. Even offering to pay out of pocket for their ridiculous fee. However this was not a total loss for you. You got to show a very real side of the trucking business to us, your viewers. And I thank you for showing us this is what could happen in the business.

    @justtruckin I saw you yesterday near Valdosta. My wife and I both went There's Justin (but I was secretly not confident because of the reefer). We were otw to lake city FL to test CDL-A which we both passed and were even asked by the Examiner Darryl Washington to come back in 2 years and join their company (troops into transportation) which places vets thru CDL and gets them hired. I am a Ranger Vet and our O/O business is already live. I keep an eye out for you always. See you on the hard stand Trucker.

    You did more than enough to help the driver out Justin, but these shippers and receivers really don’t care about the drivers situation sad to say, this was a good teaching/ realistic situation that could happen to anybody.

    I delivered a reefer load in greater Atlanta weekly. 9 doors but one had a curved blindside single lane, curbs both sides which nobody could get into. Waited in a line of trucks until it was my turn. Bills in hand, what’s wrong with door #9?? Response was,, if you can get into it, we will unload you immediately. So be it, unloaded and was my door weekly, never again waited line, loved it.

    Real shit, if you run reefer long enough, you'll get used to the background drone and start drifting off to it... and then panic if you wake up and CAN'T hear it

    This is why I stopped taking multiple stop loads. One stop sometimes interferes with the rest.
