The Mario&Luigi series has some really great music made by the woman who makes the Kingdom hearts music, really good writing with some of the funniest moments of any videogame series i've played and some really fun/satisfying combat which you've already noticed yourself. I would totally recomend them if your slightly interested.
I like how for a long time the Playstation was seen as the RPG machine after the SNES, and now we've come back to Nintendo with the Switch being the RPG machine. lol
