  • As a recovering people pleaser I wanted to share some of my tips on how to stop being a people pleaser.
In order to truly free oneself from the insidious grip of people-pleasing, it's important to embark upon a journey of self-discovery and dare I say it radical self-acceptance. Begin by cultivating a profound understanding of your worth, recognizing that your value is not contingent upon the approval of others. This is easier said than done and requires commitment but it is worth it. I am still on this journey but I am trying to take my own advice and every day it gets easier. Embrace the power of setting boundaries firmly and unapologetically, safeguarding your time, energy, and emotional well-being. Challenge the pervasive belief that saying "no" equates to selfishness when it fact it is an act of self-respect and preservation. Engage in some intense reflection to identify the root causes of your people-pleasing tendencies, confronting them with compassion and courage. Surround yourself with individuals who appreciate you for your authentic self in spaces where you feel safe to share that authenticity, fostering genuine connections built on mutual respect and understanding. Ultimately, embrace the undeniable truth that your worthiness lies within.
