Allow me to share a delicate piece of memory with you. A few years ago, I won a dinner with Dmitry Glukhovsky, yes, that Glukhovsky: writer of the Metro Novels. We had a really good time over dinner, and there was a point when my role from a simple fan changed to a kindred spirit: I told him I usually listen to Rob Dougan’s music when I read his books - and he told me that he usually listen to Rob Dougan’s music when he writes his books. When Dmitry dedicated my book, he asked me what to write in and I asked for a personal message based on our conversation. Now I have a book that literally tells me: listen to Rob Dougan! Just continue to create Rob, your amazing tones are inspiring many souls out there! And inspiration is what we need - especially times like these.
Hello Tyler. That has to be one of the best comments/stories I've ever read! I hope you don't mind if I use it. All the best - and do pass on my thanks to Mr Glukhovsky too. Rob.
@@RobDouganOfficial I would be honored if you would use this story in any way (I can send a picture as well, if its needed), just please, let me know how you will use it. Take care!
This song came to my life when I was 19, in love with a person who chose to enter another relationship. I felt my love still a promise within a silence just for me. I wanted with my whole soul that it would change but the finality of our love left me by myself. Somehow I wanted to believe you went through the same and it felt like a crime for someone to have hurt you this way. And yet, I didn't feel alone in this pain, the voice comforted me that this feeling was not singular. You helped me process my first heartbreak into a musical escape with a continuous simpathy towards the singer. I couldn't be more fortunate being born in an age where you and your music exist. This version sounds sadder and the voice defeated, like my worries all along have come true. Has love stopped being kind to you?
Tonia - thank you so much. That's a wonderful comment. In answer: Yes - that's a situation that one upon a time was not entirely unfamiliar to me. I'm very pleased to be saying hello to you some time later on this cold winter night. I suppose I wanted this version to sound sadder, older, more broken. Am I? That would be telling.
@@RobDouganOfficial Heartbreaking to imagine that love could possibly had broken you with the passing years. I only wish it isn't true, that your revisits are only planned. However, if you find yourself indeed in that place of sorrow, I would like to send a piece of my heart that already is attached to you and your creations, with the hope it would warm your winter nights. 🌹
@@RobDouganOfficial wow!! 😱🤩 really thank you for all the hard work, and really thank for all you do and your music. I grew up listening to your music though all these years, you are my best Favorite Artist and composer Mr Rob Dougan. Im really excited to continue hear from you! 💕😃🍸 I wish everybody here some beautiful thanksgiving and happy holidays 😀😃😉🍾
Your use of orchestral walls of sound always blew me away Rob. I’m very grateful to have discovered your music. It’s been, and will always be, a very big inspiration to me.
Oh, chills... it's so good. I can't wait for the release! Always enjoyed your work from the first time I heard one of your songs. Truly magnificent work, Rob 🖤
The intro is very nostalgic for me but I can't pin point what exactly it reminds me of. A few days of brain wracking and it will hopefully click. Then I'll be back. Loving all of these fragments
Hey Rob, I've listened to your music religiously ever since i discovered you a few years back. Heck, there was even a time when your album was the only music i listened to for an entire year. Just to give you an indication of how much of an impact you had on me. 'There's only me' especially got me good. I just had a question about the bit at the end. Some people joke and laugh about your performance at the end, but to me it's just pure raw emotion at work portraying the deep obsession at play. I just wanted to hear your two cents about it, if you don't mind of course.
Many thanks, S Cergel, for the kind message. Delighted to hear that. Yes - the ending in a way was supposed to unhinged or hysterical. I suppose there's a reason why hysterical can both mean both crazed and hilarious.
This is my favourite song of yours. And I was at pains hearing you “revisit” this. But I am absolutely loving this stripped down, jazz lounge vibe in this version.
Amazing how you have transformed these but yet elements of the original remain... your work is inspiring and breathtaking. Can not wait for the release!
Thank you, Brad. The original Idea was for more unplugged versions that would be better to perform live. But most of these pieces need a bit more than that. So it ranged between that and the original. Also wanted to find an older feeling to these renditions.
Very Cool! I have always been a big fan, and as an audio engineer I appreciated the behind the scenes look into the DAW for this. Really shows the amount of work you put into these.
Rob, please, it's 2020. Upload your releases to some music streaming, like Apple Music, Spotify or Deezer. There's only your debut album now available. You make great music, but there's no place to listen it right now.
@@RobDouganOfficial can you enlighten me on what sort of process you follow to find the right sounds for each work? Have you spent many years trial and error building up the sounds or are you going into each piece with a blank slate each time?
I love what you did with this piece!!! Can’t wait to hear more! I have a question about another piece though. Are you going to continue the excerpt of Clubbed to Death II that you posted a while back in the Paper to Performance series?
The Buzzsaw Channel - we haven't given up on that one. It just felt like it didn't need much more work - so will share the mixing (and mastering) stage. And include it in the release.
Rob Dougan Official, absolutely! The sound was perfect!! Really, the only thing I’d hope for is for you to make it longer! But if you feel the length is what it needs to be, I understand. I just enjoy listening to it so much!
Hi Rob, I can't find the comments on your previous videos where we last chatted, but you were looking into an issue with the copy of the Opening Trilogy (vinyl & cd deluxe) that I ordered but hadn't yet received. I'd very much like a copy rather than a refund - is this something you can sort out for me please?
Hi Rob, I need your help to resolve an issue with the Opening Trilogy Vinyls as I never received it and yet I was charged for it. I've tried several times to reach out via your channels and no luck. How can we resolve this? The idea would be to receive a copy, not looking for a refund! Thank you so much in advance!
I appreciate it! Obviously I'm a big fan of your work so I ordered the 3LP Vinyl Deluxe Edition: The Opening Trilogy - + Signed Special Citation. I have order # if needed! Thanks again!
Andres Duran Thank you. Yes. All the special citations were the first to be sent out. My apologies. I'll sort this out this week and confirm with you. All the best, Rob
