I purchased a Proyama auger, I've been using a friends old hand auger and finally decided to buy a one, under $100, how could you go wrong. Its unbelievable! I hooked it up to my DeWalt XR 20v drill and it will cut through 12 inchs of ice in less then 15 seconds! I drilled around 20 holes with a 2ah battery! Even using the hand crank it cuts good! I will never go back to using a hand auger after using this setup with a drill. Awesome Price, Awesome Performance, Awesome Product!
How the fuck do you get that many holes? I get 10-15 holes on brand new 5 amp hour batteries. But I also just bought a cheaper vevor auger to try it out
Crazy ya just posted this after I was scouring the web for vids of the 10" Ion G2 powered by a drill a week ago. I ended up getting 1 ordered to pair up with my mud mixer a few days ago. Now I have to decide whether to keep my 8" liteflite. The 8.5 kdrill just isn't big enough plus it's a battery killer, can't believe how hard it turns. However, gotta keep it around for our dirty sand blown lakes. Thanks for the video Joe!
I just bought the lite flite this year and am overall happy with it. I had some ice buildup around it and found out there was a bad batch of blades sent out of which I had the bad batch. 3 days later Strikemaster had a new set of blades on my door step! I love the 8 inch and I think the 10 inch will wear your drill out a lot faster, but if you're not concerned about that then certainly I think you have one of the best setups out there for a 10 inch hole!
For sure, I also bought the 8 inch Lite Flite, Absolutely love it I am thinking its the best 8 inch drill out there. I didn't notice a lot of resistance with the 10 inch, It felt very similar to the lite flite and much less resistance than the 8.5 k drill.
I just looked up and compared the ion to the k-drill and the jiffy torch. The ion was not the cheapest but definitely the lightest. Also the cost was not much of a difference. Thank you for the review, and always I love your videos. Your enthusiasm is great 😃
the huge difference between the ion and the Kdrill and the torch is that the kdrill and torch are both chipper blades and while they may last longer they are hell on drills, and battery killers. Shaver blades for drill set ups is the way to go.
Joe, I purchased the same quick release chuck and it's great. They sell anchors that work in that QR chuck that are slicker than snot. I got 6 of them and love them. Tight lines
I have the Eskimo F1 rocket gas auger and it only weighs 22 pounds but that would be a great backup auger. lots of good ice in central Ontario this year
Nice video. Can’t find a 10” ion auger that will take a drill. They have a 8” they call a pistol grip. Did u rig up something to adapt the drill to the auger. Extremely impressive watching your video.Bart
Im thinking of adding a frisbee in between the lower and the drill, connect it to the lower in case it pops out. It wont detach from the quick connect but the quick connect could always fall out of the drill. Also thinking of just foaming the top part of the shaft for a float in case. Ill check the best option.
I wonder how this compares hole to hole with the Gen 2? I love 10 inch as well. How about having a toe to toe with Milwaukie, Dewalt and Gen 2 ten holes with cost and weight comparison.
No, it really wasnt worth testing for me since it drills a full day plus amount of holes with me drilling for myself , other people, and hole hopping, It's a ton of holes per batt.
I know the g2 40v head and 10" flyte weigh in at 18lbs so I am curious what this set up weighs and how many inches of ice can you drill on one battery.
The G2 lower weighs 5 pounds. I would have to weigh the drill and it takes different size batteries that weigh differently depending on which size and amperage hours. Id guess somewhere between 60-100 feet of ice on one 12 AH battery but thats just a total guess until I try and count.
Hello Joe. Appreciate the video. Do you have any idea why ion and all the big names say their auger can only be used with their electric power units? I’m looking at a strike master auger to put on my Milwaukee 2904 with the clam power drive. That should be way more than enough torque to power a 10 inch strike master auger don’t you think?
@@nealsleeper5586 A lot of people have been making their own. Frisbees, Aluminum and Plastic I have seen. I put a ton of trust in the Deep Freeze connector. Got a couple thousand holes so far with it.

Lite flite 8 inch is the best with a Dewalt brushless hammer drill
I have been running this same setup but with a clam plate all year and it works great.
Awesome, is it the regular clam plate or the one with the gear box?
@@JoeHollandFishing just the regular one. I don’t think it needs the gear box. Cuts great without it.

Great video! Up here in Manitoba 3'-4' ft of ice is standard come February so curious how it would handle that?

That is crazy fast. Of course being a Milwaukee guy I would say the drill helped but that looked effortless.
Very effortless
OMG back in the day with gas augers, what a PIA,. These brushless drills are a game changer.

Always on setting 1 for the Milwaukee. Thickest so far is the auger completely burried so around 36

A buddy of mine tried it and didn’t like it I don’t know why. I have non problems with the Mill 2804 and the new 2904
Will the adapter and drill work with a third generation auger bit, or only the second gen? New to electric drill augers.
Yes it does
Should add some kind of frisbee or floatation just in case in comes out of the chuck
I put a Frisbee on my auger last year and well it paid for itself on Thursday! Saved my auger from being structure.
I was thinking a frisbee would be perfect.
Joe dont stop at the lower. I recommend getting the head unit also. Ive been out fishing 3 days on this battery and its still full. 16" of ice
Save a few pounds with the Milwaukee though
I already have the drill and don't want another battery system and a heavier auger. It rips though.
That lower breaks thru the ice smooth as butter everytime.

I saw you use that in another video. That's faster than my old 6 n 8 gas powered

Are you using the same amp hour battery that you used with the 8" auger bit? If so did you notice a difference in how many holes you could drill?
I haven’t tried them until empty yet
