This rendition of this song means a lot to me. I'm writing this in early December of 2022, nearly two years after you posted this video. My husband killed himself in February, and I've had a hard time dealing with, not just the grief, but also financial pressures. When I discovered Pentatonix in September it was a great blessing to me. Their music has somehow made the grieving easier to do (and make no mistake - doing your grief work after a major loss is *essential* if you ever want to recover.) When Pentatonix came out with their 2022 Christmas album, _Holidays Around the World,_ it came with an announcement that they were going on their Christmas tour to major cities in the U.S.. I immediately went online and found out that they'd be in Denver, where I live, on Sunday, November 20, and I bought tickets for myself and a friend. We were in the nosebleed seats, but we were going to go and we were going to have fun! And on November 19th, a man with an assault rifle invaded Club Q, a Queer nightclub in Colorado Springs, about 70 miles south of my home, and attempted to recreate the horror of the Pulse massacre. This time we got lucky. This time there was a man present who saw his loved ones being killed and said "Not on my watch!" and then, with no weapons of his own, ran *toward* the man with the assault rifle and actually managed to take him down! Because of him, this time we "only" lost five. One was the mother of an 11 year old boy. She was killed while trying to protect others. I first heard about Club Q just before the Pentatonix concert, sitting in the Ball Arena, checking my email while waiting for Pentatonix to appear. It brought back to me all the gay friends I've lost over the years, to everything from AIDS to suicide to simple old age. And it reminds me of the Queer friends I have now. The thought of *any* of them, past or present, being in Club Q on November 19th, 2022 is the stuff of nightmares. On Monday morning I awoke with a deep need to revisit this rendition of this song, because of its history as a response to the Pulse massacre, and when I did I found that it was speaking to all the difficulties *I've* been having since I lost my husband. I have now downloaded it to put it on my personal permanent playlist, because it speaks to me of defying the odds, and of hope, and of empowerment.

They did this as a tribute to a very tragic event. Everyone in this video is a part of the LGBT+Q community. There was a tragic shooting in a gay night club,in florida in the US 50 people were killed. The horror went on for 4 hours.One of the deadliest shootings in US history. Mary is primarily a solo singer though she sang with Macklemore and Ryan Lewis on their track "Same Love". Her song "She Keeps Me Warm" was used as the musical portion of Macklemore's pro-LGBTQ+ rap. Definitely check her video "Secrets" - completely different than this. The unsung hero of this video is Ben Bram, whose name you usually see listed as co-producer and co-arranger for Pentatonix, for all intents the sixth member of PTX. He performed those same functions for "Rise" and also played the piano. As others have discussed, this track was to show support for the LGBTQ+ community following the massacre at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando Florida, in which a single shooter killed 49 and wounded 53 more. When you see 50 deaths shown, it is because the shooter was also killed, by a police officer. But frankly, to me, he simply doesn't count. The police officer who took him out definitely saved many more lives.

Well, that was a great collab between all of those guys. Superfruit makes some fun stuff for sure, but this was a beautiful rendition of this song. I hadn't heard this yet, so it was really cool to hear it now. They were all so good. Lovely song, it gave me chills for sure with the way they blended together.

I did not know either to be honest. After hearing that I looked at the song and heard it in a doferent light. A beautifull song for a tragic event😔
