Hi guys! So glad we could finally listen to 5SOS! 💙 They’re a great band (not boyband 😂), very cohesive, and you can feel the genuine love they have for music and one another. Looking forward to this journey! Update: I’m switching out Moodswings for Bloodhound, and Caramel for Beat Friends in my Top 5 ✨ idcidcidc lol - Jordan What’s your TOP 5!?
Moodswings Caramel Bleach Blender You Don’t Go To Parties Also, you should definitely react to the other 4 albums. The first album is more pop punk, the second is more rock, the third is more pop rock, and the fourth is a bit of everything
Luke Hemmings and Ashton Irwin have solo albums you should react to. 5SOS is a perfect example of a band that can stay together, while also allowing each band member to pursue a solo career at the same time. Bands don't need to split up to pursue a solo career.
If you like the writing on this you will LOVE Luke's solo album "when facing the things we turn away from" probably one of the most well-crafted albums ive heard both lyrically and sonically
AGREE!!! its honestly been my fav album since it came out, nothing quite hits me in my feels or vibes quite the same. like listing to it for the first time was just such a beautiful ride and I just wish everyone would give it a chance T^T
sierra and luke are actually engaged!! they created older about 3 years ago as a joke which led them to never finish it. eventually michael made them finish the song so that’s why we have it. sierra is a musician as well, she’s known for being in a duo called alex and sierra, but she stopped making music years ago and just works behind the scenes now. she decided to hop on this song though because it’s really special
“shut my eyes right at 17” is referring to the age luke was at when 5sos was thrust into fame and then “open eyes right at 23” refers to the age luke was when covid happened and for the first time in years his life was put on pause and he was finally able to deal with things he’d been neglecting in terms of his mental health & personal relationships. he wrote take my hand on his own which makes a lot of people think it may have originally been for his solo project (very similar themes on that album) but he decided to bring it to the band instead :)
I knew it!!! After WFTTWTAF I can automatically pick out what songs Luke wrote... I love that. Same with Ashton, but he's more difficult to pin down then Luke.
you guys are going to be blown away by luke’s solo album. he did it all just with like two producers, one of them being sammy white who wrote songs for harry before. it’s a very deep melancholic album and it hits you right in the guts.
Just letting you know, they aren't actually a boyband and never considered themselves one. From the start back in 2011 they have always played their own instruments and they take pride in being a strong four piece live band. Michael actually produced 80% of this album himself and the four of them also wrote most of it together in isolation on a writing trip. They've been together for almost 11 years now and as a fandom we couldn't be more proud of them and their evolution. Great reaction guys!
calm is a fucking masterpiece of an album. i absolutely love it with my whole body and i hope you guys go back on their discography and see how much they’ve grown and matured. the first albums have a punk pop rock feels and it’s amazing
I would highly recommend Luke and Ashton's solo projects, When Facing the Things We Turn Away From, and Superbloom for more amazing writing and looks into both their struggles and pasts. Listening to them really helps understand some of the lyrics and they're just great projects overall!
I think you guys would be blown away by Luke's solo album "when facing the things we turn away from" is hands down one of (if not THE) best albums of 2021. Also totally recommend CALM and youngblood by 5sos!!
As everyone else in the comments has already mentioned, yes this album is amazing and you should definitely react to more of them! Since everyone is mentioning Luke, the drummer Ashton Irwin was the first of them to release a solo album, it's called Superbloom and it is also a masterpiece. His music video of his song Skinny Skinny broke me
they definitely have struggled with substance/alcohol abuse. ashton has been sober from alcohol for quite some time now because he disliked his relationship with it & the person he became when he drank so a lot of the songs he wrote definitely have that theme woven in. luke also has songs on his solo project that explore his own struggle
both Ashton and Luke actually have a solo album, Ashton's is called "Superbloom" and Luke's is called "When Facing The Things We Turn Away From", i really recomend checking them out as well, these two album sounded so different both sonically and lyrically, they made those albums before writing 5SOS5 and the influences from those two albums can actually be heard/seen on 5SOS5
Definitely react to either Calm or Youngblood. They’re both fantastic. Lyrically and sonically I think my favorite album is actually from their lead singer Luke and is called When facing the things we turn away from. It’s an incredible album. But I am a such a huge fan of the band in general.
My top 5 changes every day 🤣🤣🤣 Songs that are inevitably always near the top, though, are TEARS!, Blender, Mood Swings, Caramel, and Complete Mess. You guys definitely need to hear their whole discography, because it's been epic from the beginning, and you might like hearing Ashton's and Luke's solo projects that they wrote during quarantine (so between CALM and 5SOS5).
I'd definitely recommend to check out all of their album, they often experiment with their sound/genre and all of their previous albums are amazing in its own way
honestly, I don't dislike any song on this album, which I feel like is incredibly rare. I'd say my favs right now are: complete mess, me myself and I, caramel, emotions and blender (like you said, there's a reason the singles are singles)
if you like this lyrically, you're going to love "when facing the things we turn away from" by luke hemmings! also I think you guys would really enjoy calm and youngblood ❤️
Luke and Sierra are engaged!! They wrote it as a joke a few years ago and they forgot about it. It was originally a voice memo 50s style love song. Michael loved the song and thought they should finish it
I’m so happy you reacted to 5 seconds of summer!! Definitely go through their discography you won’t regret it! Plus Luke and Ashton also have solo projects! They had good lyrics and different sound from the start!
I'm so glad you were able to react to this album. This is probably one of my favorite albums. I have no joke had this album on repeat since it came out. I am able to connect with so many of the lyrics and it is so well written. I enjoyed them all singing on this album and each of them was able to have their moment on this album. I definitely recommend listening to their previous albums as well because seeing the growth between each of the albums is so cool. Again this was such an amazing reaction and thank you so much for reacting to this album.
I can't wait for you to go through their discography because you can hear the growth but also, their first few albums are so nostalgic to that era of music
Oh, I love this album its so good! Ngl, It took me a minute to fully get into it because I was more used to their heavier/fuller songs (like on the Youngblood and CALM albums - which yall NEED to hear I think you'd love both of them) but I really ended up having so much appreciation and love for this album and this sound.
you guys are one of my favorite reactors because of how much effort you put into analyzing the songs. id recommend their other albums of course, and a few members’s solo work! i think they’ve improved so much over time especially lyrically, so much more thoughtful and mature now (though i love all their albums)
I love that despite how i loved the songs yall didn't necessarily vibe to or would replay alot ...thats the best part of 5sos5 ...there's a place for everyones kind of taste in there! amazing self produced album
Love the reaction to 5SOS they are awesome been a fan for 3yrs.They might seem like a boy band at first sight but they don’t actually like to be called a boy and that they are a band (they all play instruments) but love the vid :)
omg yes yes yes, you should dive into 5SOS! Best band EVER! I got introduced to this band with CALM right before the pandemic and I absolutely ADORE them now. Saw them live this year they were CRAZY GOOD! This album is actually very important for the band as it's their first album they almost 100% wrote and produced (thank you michael fucking clifford!!!). I'm so proud of them, CALM was already next level in terms of lyrics but this one is even better. If you like Luke's voice you should DEFINITELY check out his solo album which is GORGEOUS, it's called When Facing the Things We Turn Away From! If you really want to learn about them I'd recommend watching their 10 year anniversary show on RUclips: there's a lot of "inside jokes" with their fans but it shows their growth and their special relationship with the 5sosfam - you see how genuine they are and why this band is so so special.
Your reaction to Bad Omens was so me like IKRRR?! And thats the song that makes me the most emotional like I cried the first the second and all the other times because wtf guys
I have actually heard both of those theories about You Don't Go to Parties (that its about themself or about being outgrown by someone else) so there's definitely some merit to either interpretation. Really loved this reaction, I had a lot of the same opinions as you guys. in terms of best songs and ones that I maybe wasn't feeling as much in certain aspects.
I think this is my most watched video on youtube 😭I keep coming back to it every once in a while because it is my favourite album and I love your reactions to it
"it's almost like they're genuine fans of each other" that is the truest thing i've ever heard about them svehdjd like honestly, they are ecah other's and the band's biggest fans. and i don't know if you guys knew that since you keep talking about them as "a boyband that got put together" they got together themselves! luke/michael/calum were friends before they made the band and found ashton in the same year they officially became a band (2011). so yes they have always loved each other above the music for the most part, and they've been saying that a lot this when when talking about making 5SOS5. like, they've made it clear it's their relationship with each other over anything else. anyway, that was a great reaction thank you so much!
i love this entire album it's my favorite album of there. all of their albums are good for the era they were in my top five on this album is. 1. Flatline 2. HAZE 3. You Don't Go to Parties 4. BLENDER 5. Easy For You To Say (Because if has a special place in my heart when this album wasn't even out yet they performed it at the concert i went to of theirs.)
Omg i want u so much to dive into their music (I love calm it’s my fav album from them) I think u’ll love them Btw : i also hope we’ll get some one direction content soon 👀
Loved your reaction! I see people already educated you about the whole boyband thing. Anyway, I can never pick the same top 5, I only know that at this very moment, my favourite song from 5SOS5 is Bleach. Really hope to see your reaction to the rest of their discography, it's really diverse and fun to discover! The album you definitely need to check out is CALM, it's beautiful and my favourite (it's between CALM and 5SOS5). And as everyone already mentioned you need to check out Ashton and Luke's solo projects! Luke's album "When Facing The Things We Turn Away From" is a masterpiece and the best album I've ever heard!
I think you should definitely check out their entire discography and see how much they have grown over the years. Their self titled album came out in 2014, Sounds Good Feels Good came out in 2015, Youngblood in 2018 and CALM in 2020. They also have a few EPs and b-sides and rarities which have some good songs on those as well. Luke and Ashton also have their solo albums that came out in 2020 (Superbloom which is Ashton’s) and 2021(when facing the things we turn away from which is Luke’s)
i loved your reaction guys you are so genuine and i appreciate that i would love for you to react to more 5sos music They are my favorite band of all time and seeing more people enjoy their music fills my heart
About your question with the song red line: I don't really know about the rest of the guys but sadly Luke has alluded to addiction many times in songs and even went into detail about it being in his family with the song "bloodline" in his solo album.
I had a great moment listening to the album with you. I hope you'll go deeper in their music! Just so you know, Michael and Calum are friends since elementary school and they met Luke in high school. Ashton joined them in 2011. My top on 5SOS5: Emotions, Flatline, Moodswings, Carrousel, Me myself & I and You don't go to parties
You should check out some of their live performances because they usually sound very different from the studio recordings. They played easy for you to say and blender on tour before releasing them and they sound a lot more pop-rocky, especially blender. They are also one of the best live bands imo, and Ashton is an amazing drummer. On tour he had a drum solo called Supernova/red desert, definitely should check that out, he pours his heart and soul into those drums
For their 10 year anniversary, they released a podcast series on youtube and created a 10 year anniversary show with skits and live performances, if you want to get to know them more, it would be a great introduction to their chaotic personaitites
i've been a fan of them since 2013 and the evolution of their music and them as people is truly amazing. this is their first album as an independent band and it really shows in this piece as it allowed them to really experiment with their sound and figure out what they love as artists. i loved watching y'all's reaction and you guys should definitely react to more of their music and also luke's solo album "when facing the things we turn away from" and ashton's solo album "superbloom"!!
I saw this album to have a lot of references to alcoholism/addiction and recovery, especially in you don’t go to parties, complete mess, caramel, mood swings and tears. Also welcome to the 5sos fam hehe
Loved seeing your reaction! Your analysis is so smart and self aware! My top 3 are Bad Omens, Moodswings, Me Myself and I -so glad you guys liked them too!
Also if you go on spotify and put the fade between songs at like 12 seconds, the transition between red line and complete mess is SEAMLESS, it's soooo good
this is such a great reaction!! very entertaining all throughout, and i truly appreciated the lyrical analysis and interpretation, as well as your insight overall about the songs and respect for each member for their musicianship as well as their voices! also Jordan catching the beat so fast on every song was awesome tbh lol (i feel ya i also love me some big sounding songs) this is an interesting album to discover 5sos on because i feel like they've grown lyrically and sonically, so much since the last one. they've also gone independent and kept this specific album very much within the band, whereas (as you might hear?) the previous ones were very much co written and produced and less introspective in a way? not less genuine i'd say but definitely feels less personal compared to this one 🤔i'm sure many other comments have mentionned it but in between CALM and 5sos5 both Luke and Ashton made super personal solo records and you can kinda feel the impact on this one! i think 5sos are a pretty interesting band to look back on in reverse chronological order because their career really has been all over the place lmfao but if you do intend to listen to more of their stuff, i hope you enjoy! i'm glad you're embarking on a 5sos journey, i'll be embarking on my own journey through your channel 😂 i truly really enjoyed your commentary, it was so interesting to hear your thoughts on each song, whilst being so respectful and open minded with songs you mightve not vibed with, and having two people with different opinions who can have discussions about the songs and their meanings just elevates this so much (not to mention, you guys are really funny ahaha) anyways sorry about the long comment i just truly loved this vid
love this! I have not found anyone else that shares my top 5 lollll my top 5 are haze, caramel, take my hand, tears, and probablyyyyyyyy you don't go to parties because of the bass line. :) but I honestly enjoy the whole album-no skips for me. I think you would like CALM as well. Thanks for this reaction!
You should do a reaction video for Luke’s solo album “When Facing the Things we turn away from”…you’ll appreciate the lyrics! It’s an incredible album also.
i never really comment on videos, but you guys HAVE TO listen to luke hemmings’ solo album. even if you don’t react to it, it’s SO so so so so amazing. lyrically so incredible. and sonically closest to older from 5sos5.
Hi guys! So glad we could finally listen to 5SOS! 💙 They’re a great band (not boyband 😂), very cohesive, and you can feel the genuine love they have for music and one another. Looking forward to this journey!
Update: I’m switching out Moodswings for Bloodhound, and Caramel for Beat Friends in my Top 5 ✨ idcidcidc lol - Jordan
What’s your TOP 5!?
Moodswings
Caramel
Bleach
Blender
You Don’t Go To Parties
Also, you should definitely react to the other 4 albums. The first album is more pop punk, the second is more rock, the third is more pop rock, and the fourth is a bit of everything
caramel, haze, carrossel, red line and flatine (it's really hard to pick 😭)
Bad Omen
Blender
Bleach
Caramel
Easy for you to say
Luke Hemmings and Ashton Irwin have solo albums you should react to. 5SOS is a perfect example of a band that can stay together, while also allowing each band member to pursue a solo career at the same time. Bands don't need to split up to pursue a solo career.
Bloodhound
Caramel
HAZE
Flatline
TEARS!
(But Bleach and Red Line are really close)
Petition to you going through all their DAMN GOOD albums
Also, their live performances on tour slap so much more
Don't forget about those beside tracks.
If you like the writing on this you will LOVE Luke's solo album "when facing the things we turn away from" probably one of the most well-crafted albums ive heard both lyrically and sonically
yesssss, that’s exactly how i would describe it
AGREE!!! its honestly been my fav album since it came out, nothing quite hits me in my feels or vibes quite the same. like listing to it for the first time was just such a beautiful ride and I just wish everyone would give it a chance T^T
"My ass is sweating" is a whole mood for this entire album
a whole mood for 5SOS, period
sierra and luke are actually engaged!! they created older about 3 years ago as a joke which led them to never finish it. eventually michael made them finish the song so that’s why we have it. sierra is a musician as well, she’s known for being in a duo called alex and sierra, but she stopped making music years ago and just works behind the scenes now. she decided to hop on this song though because it’s really special
I would definitely recommend listening to CALM and then Youngblood :) Also Luke has a solo album which is honestly incredible!
Ashton’s solo album is also amazing
From Caitlyn, Steven n Stereo, to Blake Mclain, now we need the Bascome Twin to Dive their Discography!!!!!!
omg. yes
you guys are going to be blown away by luke’s solo album. he did it all just with like two producers, one of them being sammy white who wrote songs for harry before. it’s a very deep melancholic album and it hits you right in the guts.

Ashton has his own album called superbloom. So does Luke and it’s called when facing the things we turn away from

I'd definitely recommend to check out all of their album, they often experiment with their sound/genre and all of their previous albums are amazing in its own way

Thank you for genuinely reacting to 5sos5! Love your reactions as always.
please do their whole discography, I swear it'll be worth it!!!

you guys are one of my favorite reactors because of how much effort you put into analyzing the songs.

omg yes yes yes, you should dive into 5SOS! Best band EVER!

y'all.... I've been waiting for this! (very impatiently waiting💀)
omg, thank you for reacting to 5sos. ant wait to watch it
70K AND A SPONSORSHIP IN THE SAME SITTING?! HOLY F*CK THEY’RE WINNING!
Your reaction to Bad Omens was so me like IKRRR?! And thats the song that makes me the most emotional like I cried the first the second and all the other times because wtf guys
def need more 5sos from yall!!
I think this is my most watched video on youtube 😭I keep coming back to it every once in a while because it is my favourite album and I love your reactions to it
"it's almost like they're genuine fans of each other" that is the truest thing i've ever heard about them svehdjd like honestly, they are ecah other's and the band's biggest fans.
and i don't know if you guys knew that since you keep talking about them as "a boyband that got put together" they got together themselves! luke/michael/calum were friends before they made the band and found ashton in the same year they officially became a band (2011). so yes they have always loved each other above the music for the most part, and they've been saying that a lot this when when talking about making 5SOS5. like, they've made it clear it's their relationship with each other over anything else.
anyway, that was a great reaction thank you so much!
y’all will love CALM & luke’s solo album when facing the things we turn away from!!
Definitely check out Calm and Youngblood, but also check out Luke and Ashton's solo projects!! (Superbloom by Ashton is criminally underappreciated)
My favourite song is flat line - I feel like everyone is sleeping on it! Kinda gives me Golden by Harry Styles vibes
i LOVED your reaction to this album, definitely react to their other albums + ashton and luke's solo stuff!! i will be SEATED
oh, i love this album so so much! glad you reacted to it
You guys have to listen to Luke’s album. When facing the things we turn away from completely changed everything
and their whole discography PLEASE

i loved your reaction guys you are so genuine and i appreciate that i would love for you to react to more 5sos music
They are my favorite band of all time and seeing more people enjoy their music fills my heart
You guys need to react to Luke's solo album now! When Facing The Things We Turn Away From! Probably in my top 10 albums of all time
About your question with the song red line: I don't really know about the rest of the guys but sadly Luke has alluded to addiction many times in songs and even went into detail about it being in his family with the song "bloodline" in his solo album.
i feel you’d LOVE ashton’s solo album “superbloom”. it’s definitely one of my top favorite albums ever. there’s so much meaning behind every song
I don’t know how but you guys have helped me understand some of the themes on this album better than I did before. 😅
I’m obsessed with this album 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰💜💜💜💜💜💜💜🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
YES PLEASE MORE 5SOS 😍😍😍😍😍
For their 10 year anniversary, they released a podcast series on youtube and created a 10 year anniversary show with skits and live performances, if you want to get to know them more, it would be a great introduction to their chaotic personaitites
i need the rest of the albums 😭
I'm so glad to see on your back Why Don't We Album & Lauv Album 😭❤️
i've been a fan of them since 2013 and the evolution of their music and them as people is truly amazing. this is their first album as an independent band and it really shows in this piece as it allowed them to really experiment with their sound and figure out what they love as artists. i loved watching y'all's reaction and you guys should definitely react to more of their music and also luke's solo album "when facing the things we turn away from" and ashton's solo album "superbloom"!!
I saw this album to have a lot of references to alcoholism/addiction and recovery, especially in you don’t go to parties, complete mess, caramel, mood swings and tears. Also welcome to the 5sos fam hehe
if you wanna make a short reaction video you could do easier and teeth live from the vault! i know you'll love them
This is the first video I’ve watched of y’all and I’m already obsessed
Loved seeing your reaction! Your analysis is so smart and self aware! My top 3 are Bad Omens, Moodswings, Me Myself and I -so glad you guys liked them too!
your reactions to bad omens is so funny and relatable HAHA bad omens has become one of the fandoms favorites
When they were 16-18 they took the red line to their songwriting sessions
omggg you definitely have to do a CALM react
on my hand and knees begging for more 5sos
Also if you go on spotify and put the fade between songs at like 12 seconds, the transition between red line and complete mess is SEAMLESS, it's soooo good
Love the Me Myself & I video, it highlights each band member. I love Blender, Caramel, Take My Hand.
We need more 5SOS reactions guys,i geranty you , u won't regret it ❤️!
Y’all get it! Please do the other ones and their solo albums. I think you would love those
this is such a great reaction!! very entertaining all throughout, and i truly appreciated the lyrical analysis and interpretation, as well as your insight overall about the songs and respect for each member for their musicianship as well as their voices! also Jordan catching the beat so fast on every song was awesome tbh lol (i feel ya i also love me some big sounding songs)
this is an interesting album to discover 5sos on because i feel like they've grown lyrically and sonically, so much since the last one. they've also gone independent and kept this specific album very much within the band, whereas (as you might hear?) the previous ones were very much co written and produced and less introspective in a way? not less genuine i'd say but definitely feels less personal compared to this one 🤔i'm sure many other comments have mentionned it but in between CALM and 5sos5 both Luke and Ashton made super personal solo records and you can kinda feel the impact on this one!
i think 5sos are a pretty interesting band to look back on in reverse chronological order because their career really has been all over the place lmfao but if you do intend to listen to more of their stuff, i hope you enjoy!
i'm glad you're embarking on a 5sos journey, i'll be embarking on my own journey through your channel 😂 i truly really enjoyed your commentary, it was so interesting to hear your thoughts on each song, whilst being so respectful and open minded with songs you mightve not vibed with, and having two people with different opinions who can have discussions about the songs and their meanings just elevates this so much (not to mention, you guys are really funny ahaha)
anyways sorry about the long comment i just truly loved this vid
this was a great reaction, i cannot wait for you to hear calm! 💙
Pleaseee do their full discography and their music videos THEY ARE SUPERIOR
love this!
I have not found anyone else that shares my top 5 lollll
my top 5 are haze, caramel, take my hand, tears, and probablyyyyyyyy you don't go to parties because of the bass line. :)
but I honestly enjoy the whole album-no skips for me. I think you would like CALM as well. Thanks for this reaction!
Y’all really need to react to their other albums!
You should do a reaction video for Luke’s solo album “When Facing the Things we turn away from”…you’ll appreciate the lyrics! It’s an incredible album also.
You really need to listen to Luke’s album 😩😩😩😩
i never really comment on videos, but you guys HAVE TO listen to luke hemmings’ solo album. even if you don’t react to it, it’s SO so so so so amazing. lyrically so incredible. and sonically closest to older from 5sos5.
omg yesss the third person pov for “you don’t go to parties” is what i’ve been hearing aswell!
Your reaction to Bad Omens is giving me life right now. 😂😂
I really like to see how you enjoy this album guys, you r reallyyy natural !
