Lyrics:
Say, do you like mystery stories?
Well we have one for you.
The concept: relativity. That strange fantastic relationship between time, distance, and mass.
Before we're finished, I think you'll agree that truth is stranger than the strangest fiction.
Why do the stars shine?
Why does the galaxy light up?
E equals MC squared
That is the engine that lights up the stars
Energy turns into mass
E equals MC squared -
That is the secret of the stars
Now listen carefully:
The faster you move
THe heavier you get
The energy of motion turns into M, your mass
Energy of motion
Energy equals Mass times the speed of light squared
An awful lot of energy
For a tiny amount of mass
Light travels at the same speed
No matter how you look at it
No matter how I move, relative to you,
Light travels at the same speed
No matter who is doing the measurement
And no matter what direction you are moving
The speed of light is the same
No matter what direction, or how fast
As you travel faster
Time slows down
Everything slows down
Time slows down when you move
Time passes at a different rate
Clocks run slow
It's a monumental shift in how we see the world
The beauty, the majesty,
The power of the universe
Into a single equation
(refrain)
It's a beautiful piece of science
It's a beautifuly elegant theory
It's a beautiful piece of science
A planet like the Earth is kept in orbit
Because it follows curves
In the spatial fabric caused
By the sun's presence
Space and time are bent by stars and planets
As things move through this curved space, they bend
Now all of this is illustration of the fact
that time and space are linked together.
As you're moving through bent and curved space and time,
You feel like you feel a force (x2)
That force is gravity
(refrain)
That is the secret of the stars

The best of this is that once you listen to it you just can't get it out of your head and finally you learn the concepts by singing... Who did this is a GENIOUS!!!
They should do that with Math.
Is science not applied math? :)
"Genius"...
I do not even get it in my head.. :( Because English is far from a native. :D
Exactly
"Truth is often stranger than fiction as fiction has to make sense." ~ some bloke
Irwin A. Moon
Life is infinitely stranger than anything which the mind of man could invent
- A.C. Doyle
Agreed.
By all accounts it was actually Mark Twain actually said it first.
"Truth is stranger than fiction but it is because fiction is obliged to stick to possibilities; Truth isn't."

Is it weird to start tearing up watching this?
Nah bruh.
I've shed a few tears for science watching these.

No.
It's not.

Melodysheep, you mad genius, inspiring everyone of the wonders of science/universe. the beauty you bring to everyone through Symphony of Science is beyond words i can express. i am grateful for you existence.
Creator is John Boswell. I've communicatated with him personally a few times. Real nice guy.
Only if you’re a robot
Julian Robbins I just realized John Boswell is born at the same day as my birthday! Is that a sign I should be a physician🤔
What are the wonders of the universe?
@@nikitagloukhovtchenko6857 many but I will name a few. Boundless sites to see. near infinite potential for exploration. Vast untapped resources and mechanics to unlock.
Until we actually get out there and explore, any speculations of those wonders would be confined to the perspective of our one world. Once we're free of that limitation, we will have potential to be whatever we wish. What will humanity become when the guiding principle of earth is no longer a factor in our evolution?
Humanity has the opportunity to gain everything, and choose it's own form/path, as it spreads throughout the universe.
There's something poetic about bringing order and consciousness to a universe that seems keen on entropy
Brian Cox and Michio Kaku are simply , amazing.
My two favourite science communicators. Such silky smooth voices

totally agree! :)
its amazing we dont use music like this for learning purposes considered how the human brain is a million times better at associating words with music and our ability to remember it due to association is incredible compared to just learning it without association...
this concept could be incredible for learning purposes.
Get an extremely good rapper to design a smooth rap text that contains relevant information and have him present it with a rapid flow. Watch as boys compete in learning.
Source: Me unsuccessfully but stubbornly trying to learn Eminem's "Rap God" because damn.
All you need to do is learn some music editing software, sing what you what to learn, autotune it heavily (as done here) then put your backing track on and boom.

Dude, this is a MASTERPIECE !!!! Your songs should be considered to be taken into the teachings of all the physics professors from all around the world!
What is physics? It’s a study of the motion of matter, particles and transfer of matter moving from one place to another.
I only heard of braingasm but never experienced it. And then i saw this video! WOAH! I am astounded by the beauty of this! i literally felt a lot of pleasure by seeing and listening to this music!
+Shivaramakrishna Reddy i hate physics because of my high school but i come here everyday to get my braigasm serioulsy never had this good feeling it is like my favorite song but diffrent.
The real braingasms come from watching his other astonishing work. Not sure if you watch him anymore, but I highly advise you to see his cosmic series.

Some weeks ago my physics teacher shown me this video in the classroom, i just remember to be completely focused in the beauty of this video which made me wanna cry. In that moment i recognized that physics and astronomy is what i want to do for the rest of my life. I'm extremely grateful to the people involved in this production.
I first heard this as an undergraduate student in 2013 and this song contributed to getting me interested in general relativity. I ended up defending my PhD and am currently a postdoc at a national lab studying relativistic effects in particle beams.

Yeah my 8th grade science teacher played The Quantum World Symphony of Science and the periodic table song for us and I loved it! I ended up memorizing both cuz they were so good
E=MC squared. The equation which describes the relationship between mass & energy & how it shifts its form by way of physics is of such elegance & thought-provoking wonder that its no wonder why Einstein expressed his spirituality similar to Spinoza.
This video gives me a lot of energy. When I feel down I always comes to this channel to watch videos. After that, I feel energized and I can start over again.
A few of my friends discovered this channel years ago and ive been a fan ever since melodysheep has made singing to science lectures amazing. I never thought someone would make a page like this where it can educate you while letting you enjoy music.

Doctor Kaku's voice sounds so different from the others when it's autotuned--while the others sound a bit more metallic and heavy, his instead becomes velvetine and airy: it's a nice contrast.

MAGNIFICENT!!!
Im in love with Brian Cox, he's just so amazing.
This makes me mist up in awe.. I assume this is how a religious person must feel..
Except the most amazing thing, is those feelings are being induced by REALITY. Not fairy tales made up to control people. It's like the song says "truth is stranger than the strangest fiction".
Exactly
That is exactly how I feel!!!!
***** You're being a bit mean, after all, religion was what people created to try an explain how the universe worked. They were working with all the information they had and trying to make sense of it. It was incorrect, yeah, but give them a C for Effort. Religion only became sheeple controlling when some idiots zealously protected their beliefs instead of being empirical and using new knowledge to fix problems with their old knowledge. There's "Scientists" like that too, ones who deny new theories because they don't like them.
It all boils down to people being afraid of being wrong, and as a result, being even more wrong in the process.
Kami K
Since most religious cults follow those outdated attempts at explaining the world, I think it's safe to say we need different terms for ignorant sects and groups of people trying to make sense of what we haven't uncovered yet in a spiritual sense. I associate religion with the former. Any cult that does not update its scripture according to scientific consensus.
And even ignorant scientists rarely deny the Earth being older than 6000 years.
I'm supposed to be at church right now, but this video is
1. More real
2. More profound
This video doesn't want your money either.
Oh, and it doesn't want to control your genitals either...

I hope one day you return to Symphony of Science and make a modern reboot of it. With the quality of the alien life series. One more epic musical testament to science. I just love these so much. I have loved them growing up and I love them almost a decade later.
Keep coming back to symphony of science. Cant thank you enough melodysheep :')
This song is so damn catchy! It's like a long lost song from Schoolhouse Rock. If Schoolhouse Rock was still being made today, this song is what I imagine a majority of modern Schoolhouse Rock songs would sound like. :)
you my man is a genius...
Mr. Boswell, I wish I could send you a video of my 5th grade students singing this! All of my 34 students know MOST of this - word for word. I show your videos in class, and they go home and watch them more, and memorize them. There at least ten of your videos that we watch regularly. Some students even imitate the scientists, and say the lines as if they are the scientist. (This video, and several others, {We are Stardust, Monsters of the Cosmos, The Quantum World} actually fit in with my Next Generation Science Standards! ) You are changing lives, and inspiring bright young minds! Thank you so much!
What Brian Cox said: "an awful lot of energy, for tiny amounts of mass"
What the subtitles are saying: "an awful lot managing search and maps maps"

Usually I find your information enjoyable to listen to and insightful. Your content is really needed. Besides yourself and a relatively small group of others, its a struggle to find others who can be real. You tell the truth of it all and that makes your videos priceless. The vast amount RUclipsrs are not transparent to share this content as naked and real as you have done.
This is evergreen. I can't stop coming back to this, every now and then

Got recommended this and was about to comment "what is this 2013 or something?" Then I saw it was uploaded 10 years ago, so fair play.
I could just listen to and look at Brian Cox literally all day
Meaning of E = mc2
What is E = mc2:
E = mc2 is an equation of modern physics used as part of the Theory or Principle of Relativity, developed by the German physicist Albert Einstein.
The "e" is energy, "m" is mass, and "c" is the speed of light squared, considered the only constant. of the universe.
Knowing that the speed of light is about 300,000 km / s, the theory of relativity assumes that a mass could exceed the speed of light and can overcome the barrier of time and space.
The expression in question only refers to rest energy, or invariant energy.
I have a crush on Brian Cox since this was released. No lie.

This helped me so much for my test! thanks :)
