you are an absolute PRO and champion. your Makita is 10x better than new. the way you treat your tools is something we all could learn from.
your instructions are so precise, that you couldn't do it any better. just WOW!

    Great video !
It looks like the cutter head is a spiral cutter head, not a helical cutter head. An helical cutter head has some angle to each knives. Theoricaly the difference between the two is that the spiral cutter head have a great finish on softer woods and helical are better for hard wood. Have you noticed that since you installed it ?

This head have huge difference with stock one , work smoothedr and softer, less preasure to motor , also way way less chance to tear out wood. Unfortunately, I can’t compare them with other manufacturers, but I spent a long time choosing which one to buy and was very pleased with results.

Great video ! thank you. Can you please explain why you also changed the rotor bearings? the helicalhead manifacturer reuses the originals and does not put new ones in the rotor. di you need to do this step?
    thanks again.

If you have opened the motor for inspection and lubrication, I advise you to replace the bearings. From factory they are "made in china" .... and after several years of work .... Lubricate everything well and put SKF , its not expencive and easy to replace. Machine will work smooth and nice.
      Best regards!

    Great job Roman!
Do you may recall EU import duties and taxes paid on top of the net cost for the helical cutterhead? Thanks and keep up the good work.

Salute , yes ! Tax strike me hard - state send me bill around 80 euro for this package ... But over all I am satisfied , my goal was to go for quality spiral head and i get it.
P.S. Nowdays its many new options on market so i recommend everyone who want to buy 2012NB+ head ( its around1500 euro) - check what you can get with helical already .

Great Job, many thanks to show it. Seems I was sleeping during the dismount process and now I am unsure where the longer and shorter springs at the Rollers take place. Inside 2012NB exploded drawing there is at every roller a longer and a shorter compression spring on each end. I would have expected that every roller has two springs of the same length. Maybe the longer ones at the entry roller and the shorter ones at the exit roller. Can you remember what is right? Best regards

Hello , thank you ! At 2:53 we can see that Front Right spring is long , also she marked with white color , try to instal Front Left - short | FR - long , after that measure parallelness between roller and bottom , if everything is correct try same on second roller with paralel check .
      Best regards!

Hello Roman, thank you for your quick answer. The parallel check is a nice idea, but I think screwing on the metal covers (Item # 52, 62, 82, 89) will pressing the roller bearings flat to the housing and this is independent from the length of the springs. At the end the longer springs are squeezed more then the shorter ones and the roller will be parallel independent of the used spring length. Where is the point I did understand your idea wrong? Best regards!

Salute , i just check info - from left ( side where chain ) you need to install short ones , they harder its made special to absorb extra vibrations from chain.Right side longer , they softer and marked with white color.

Ром, привет. Сколько по времени у тебя занял весь процесс?

    • @romanrudenko1614
      @romanrudenko1614  10 месяцев назад

I looked at the Helical Head and man is it expensive! $489.00. I am guessing you know this.
I am interested but I also I am in Chile South America and I am thinking that maybe the company is not in the former USA and my browser is not translating well.
Well thank you kindly for the video. Jim in Chile.

Thank you Jim ! Yes it is expencive , true! But im not regret after installing ( im very limited with money) Original set of blades will coast around 10% of helical head unit and you have to change them time to time , in long run its very good investment . Also its another qualitty of planing .
P.S. Dont buy cheap spiral heads , its waste of money .
