Cutting board from "bad"wood. Don't judge a book by its cover.
Oak with rich texture.
Sometimes gold can be right under your feet. You may find cheap pieces of wood wich you can flip to something nice.
Almost no waste with this method, however, remember that the board can warp, control moisture and check everything.

    Great video. How would you compare the Makita to cheaper models like the Metabo or Triton? Or vs more expensive ones like IGM or Shinko that already include a helical head?

    • @romanrudenko1614
      @romanrudenko1614 26 дней назад

      Hello ! I don't see the point in buying a Metabo, the price difference is not that big. Makita + Hellical is expensive (I bought Makita 7 years ago). Perhaps there are good offers on the market now in this budget with good blades. Get a good one, it will serve you well, and it will also be easier to sell if you want to upgrade. Best regards!

      @@romanrudenko1614 Thanks! Just a comparison here in NL / Germany, Makita is 650-700 and Metabo is 400-450 so quite a difference. Also IGM with helical head included is 1000. Build quality on Makita does seem a lot better, also it is 10 dB less loud!

    Great video ! It looks like the cutter head is a spiral cutter head, not a helical cutter head. An helical cutter head has some angle to each knives. Theoricaly the difference between the two is that the spiral cutter head have a great finish on softer woods and helical are better for hard wood. Have you noticed that since you installed it ?

    • @romanrudenko1614
      @romanrudenko1614 5 месяцев назад

      This head have huge difference with stock one , work smoothedr and softer, less preasure to motor , also way way less chance to tear out wood. Unfortunately, I can’t compare them with other manufacturers, but I spent a long time choosing which one to buy and was very pleased with results.

    Great Job, many thanks to show it. Seems I was sleeping during the dismount process and now I am unsure where the longer and shorter springs at the Rollers take place. Inside 2012NB exploded drawing there is at every roller a longer and a shorter compression spring on each end. I would have expected that every roller has two springs of the same length. Maybe the longer ones at the entry roller and the shorter ones at the exit roller. Can you remember what is right? Best regards

      @romanrudenko1614 11 месяцев назад

      Hello , thank you ! At 2:53 we can see that Front Right spring is long , also she marked with white color , try to instal Front Left - short | FR - long , after that measure parallelness between roller and bottom , if everything is correct try same on second roller with paralel check . Best regards!

    • @Howie656565
      @Howie656565 11 месяцев назад

      Hello Roman, thank you for your quick answer. The parallel check is a nice idea, but I think screwing on the metal covers (Item # 52, 62, 82, 89) will pressing the roller bearings flat to the housing and this is independent from the length of the springs. At the end the longer springs are squeezed more then the shorter ones and the roller will be parallel independent of the used spring length. Where is the point I did understand your idea wrong? Best regards!

      Сергей , привет . Заняло примерно 6-7 часов с учётом того что я снимал все + делал первый раз. Без "работы на камеру" можно сделать в два раза быстрее. Не бойтесь потратить время и деньги на вал. Вы потратите больше сил и средств на обслуживание и замену оригинальных ножей, самое главное - совсем другой уровень обработки, больше не мучаюсь с фатальными надрывами на свилеватых участках. Так же меньше нагрузка на рейсмус. После приличного времени эксплуатации я однозначно могу советовать замену вала. Удачи вам !

    I have a substantial collection of folding knifes, from various Spyderco and Benchmade to Atisan cutlery and Kershaw, and since now I'm holding them in various drawers and plastic boxes, I was thinking about building some kind of a holder/display case/mount for 10 knifes I use most frequently. My idea was to take a live edge piece of plank 1 m x 1 m x 7 cm and make some sort of cutouts with a router that would fit a knife. When forded these knives are around 10x5 cm. I was thinking about carving around 10 of those from the oak plank, smooth it out with a router bit and sanding paper, paint it and voila.. Maybe some kind of short 10 cm legs for the plank to stand on at a certain angle would be cool. Oh yes, did I mention that I'm a complete woodworking novice and I don't own a router, table saw, planer or any of that fancy stuff. I have a press drill, drill driver, some hand tools and a lot of sanding paper... I almost forgot. I don't have an orbital sander either to smooth out the surface, let alone a planer. I'm planning to buy the most basic hand held router for this project so I would be thankful to the grave if you had a go with it and make something like this with a simple set of tools.... Thnx...

      It's a great idea. There are tonnes of "how to" videos about the magnetic/block holders for kitchen knives but maybe 2 about the folding knives. Folder has to be on display to be admired too but at the same time easy to reach and take one out. Of course there has to be some beauty beside the practicality.. Give it a go Roman..
