Best workaround for this heavily missing feature I have seen so far! Thanks for sharing!
I wish a proper implementation of global project parameters comes soon but according to some forum post I read about it it doesn’t seem likely :( This and some smooth option for master sketches are things I miss badly in F360.

      This isn't a woraround. It's simply a workflow.

@@TrippyLighting Workflow to go around missing feature is what I call a workaround :D Ideally, Autodesk would implement this so one wouldn't need to do favourites and derives... simply 'add global parameter'.

@@kristofpucejdl I know what a workaround is. Just because this isn't implemented in the way you imagine or consider "proper", does not mean that other implementations are workarounds.

@@TrippyLighting I hope my main message didn’t get lost in translation - I do think this is clever and helpful. I sure wished I knew this option earlier!
All I was saying is that ideally, F360 made it easier. It is not about what ‘I’ consider proper, it is about what is proper. Having to create empty designs, put parameters in favorites etc is not very streamlined. But that doesn’t take away from the fact that it works and that I am glad you taught me ;) But I feel like there is no harm in wishing for an easier way.

@@kristofpucejdl Agree, I really don't understand why Autodesk did not implement a "Project parameter list" shared across the project designs at the very least. F360 is a top-down CAD so it would make a lot of sense. This is a neat workflow but is certainly something it should be implemented natively. For users of the free version the drawback is one design less available for your project but hey I can't complain much :D

Interesting approach. Thanks for sharing! Would be even better if we could change the parameters of the referenced files from the destination file (at least temporarily). This way I could use Fusion Sheeter for example to generate and export a set of models with various parameter values. My only solution for this is to create a basic final assembly, import everything, save a copy, and then break the links in order to make all referenced parameters editable for the purpose of using plugins as explained. This is why I try to not reference files where possible.

I think ultimately the feature you are looking for is called "Configurations" in other CAD systems. At the moment Sheeter and the Derive functionality can really only function as a workaround to cover part of the Configurations functionality and you are always at the mercy of those folks who write these plugins. If the Fusion 360 team changes the Python API and the plugin you use becomes dysfunctional - this has happened more than once - you'll have a problem on your hand.
I have relatively frequent contact with members of the Fusion 360 team through the Autodesk EE Slack Channel and know they are working on this, but it's a big project and will take some time.

@@TrippyLighting good to know that the team is working on it. I can imagine it's not easy.

❓ How to make parameters bound to individual components?
E.g. a component with 3 defining parameters. And when I import it into an other file multiple times I want to adjust those 3 parameters for each "copy" of the component individually without loosing the link to the main component. (Because of when I want to add features or bodies to it.)
I really hope there would be something like "properties" for a component to change those parameters.

What you are looking for is a functionality called "configurations" that isn't yet implemented in Fusion 360. Should be out sometime earlyish next year.

@@TrippyLighting Ok, thanks for your answer!
      I'm looking forward to it.
Is there some kind of workaround at the moment? (Maybe unlinking a copy of a component to change the parameters and if I want to change something for all copies go in history back bevor I unlinked them? Or something like this)?

I tried this and the derived parameters are greyed out and I cannot access them in the new design. Any idea on what is happening?

You’ll have to favorite the derived parameters in the new design.

but how can you derive from another project folder?
