  • New Garrett Multi-Frequency Metal Detector
    is the Apex of Affordability and Flexibility
    Garland, Texas (May 15, 2020) - Texas-based Garrett Metal Detectors today announced the upcoming release of a new Sport Division metal detector for hobbyists, the ACE Apex multi-frequency detector.
    Garrett provided details of the Apex detector in a live Internet broadcast this morning that was available to tens of thousands of online viewers and social media followers. Garrett CEO Steve Novakovich and company marketing director Steve Moore promised that Apex would be unrivaled in its feature set when compared to competitive hobby metal detectors in its price range.
    “Garrett’s ACE detectors are the best-selling in the world,” said Novakovich. “In the tradition of the ACE series, which offers high-end performance features at affordable prices, the new Apex detector will similarly establish itself as the pinnacle of affordable, multi-frequency detecting technology.”
    Garrett’s Apex includes Multi-Flex™ multi-frequency technology, giving its users the flexibility to select powerful single detecting frequencies or simultaneous multi-frequency options. Moore described that these frequency options allow Apex users to adapt their detector to various ground mineralization conditions and to enhance detection of preferred metallic treasures. He also pointed out that Apex, compared to its competition, is the only detector now with such a range of frequency options offered at an MSRP of less than $500.
    Apex offers advanced features such as a high-resolution ground balance option to help the detector adapt to challenging soil conditions ranging from saltwater to highly mineralized soil. Simple, intuitive menu controls allow the operator to easily adjust: overall target volume; volume of undesired iron objects; detector sensitivity; search modes; target notch discrimination; and minor frequency adjustments to eliminate any electrical interference.
    Garrett’s ACE Apex includes built-in Z-Lynk™ wireless technology (up to six times faster than Bluetooth® speed), allowing the operator to enjoy the freedom of utilizing headphones not connected to the detector with a wire. Garrett officials described the new treasure-finding device as light weight, advanced enough for veteran treasure hunters, and yet simple enough for beginners to quickly master.
    Other Apex key features include: a backlight to allow the user to read LCD controls in low light; a built-in rechargeable lithium ion battery source; six search modes to select from; a five-tone audible target identification system, coupled with large Digital Target ID numbers on the Apex LCD; and a new 6” x 11” DD-configuration Viper searchcoil.
    The Garrett ACE Apex has a rainproof control box, while its lower shaft and searchcoil are fully submersible. It ships with a mini-USB charging cable for the internal battery, as well as a Viper searchcoil cover to prevent scratching of the coil’s lower surface. For full details on technical specifications and pricing for the new Apex metal detector, please visit www.garrett.com.

    It’s about freaking time Garrett made a multi-frequency machine. The machine looks awesome. I think it’s time to sell my back ups (Ace 250 & Ace 350) and replace them with this one. It actually looks like it could compete with some of the big boy detectors. I still love my E-Trac.

    I have the simplex, but do like the idea behind the multi frequency. Both have one thing I love/ hate about them, the internal battery. Once it goes, how much to replace?! I don't see people swinging either in twenty years from now like I still do my vaquero. My advice is to make the next one accessable to the user so they can replace it themselves.

    Hi Garrett . wicked reveal today 🤩. I have a question concerning gold and did notice you mentioning fine gold being able to be detected with the 20 Khz and multi frequency. but I notice you have not got gold labeled on the top of the control box . I am from the uk and have happily found full gold staters with your ace 400i and was wondering if the Apex is very capable of doing so also. and would love to see a real situational depth test to show its capability . many thanks jason

    Great question. Are the multi frequency used just for more versatility or does it offer extremely enhanced identification of targets by the discrimination circuit? It would be nice for the discrimination circuit to be able to detect slight shifts in frequency returns between pulltabs and gold etc etc

  • @mowerdog
    @mowerdog 4 года назад +5

    You make a multi frequency detector that can be great in the salt - then you don't make it waterproof? Go back to the drawing board and make it waterproof. It's like saying the guts of our detector can withstand 1000 degrees - but our housing is only good to 120. Why?

    • @The_Essential_Light
      @The_Essential_Light 4 года назад

      mowerdog it is not a water hunting machine. It is made for hunting primarily on land but can handle “wet sand” on a beach. If it was waterproof it would be more expensive. Garrett has waterproof detectors, the AT Pro, AT Gold, AT Max, ATX and Sea Hunter. There have been more ACE detectors sold in the world than any other metal detector from any manufacturer. I bet Garrett will sell thousands and thousands of the Apex. Also, criticism of a product that nobody has held in their hands and hunted with yet is just silly.

    • @BirdDogg
      @BirdDogg 4 года назад

      The Essential Light half the features of a simplex twice the price... Garrett is so far behind the curve. Spent all their money on marketing and detecting personalities and none on R&D

    • @mowerdog
      @mowerdog 4 года назад

      @@The_Essential_Light I don't have to hold it in my hand to see that it's not waterproof. As already stated the $256 Simplex is waterproof. The $550 ATPRO is waterproof. The $650 Equinox is waterproof. Simultaneous multi freq is killer in the salt water. Having that feature and not being able to submerge or take a wave is a deal breaker for me.

    Each detector has it's own market. You can look at what's out there and try and design the detector... they probably started 2 years ago. So when some of the others added features it was already in the pre production phase. Detectors are always going to leapfrog each other. I think they focus on a simple easy to use detector without a lot of settings. Problem is people get used to being able to set reactivity etc. I normally use my XP Deus or Equinox 800 but today I pulled out the AT Pro... it did very well and I had forgotten how simple the controls are. I think that is the market they are aiming for. Right now the push is on for Multi Frequenty detectors.

    • @petervandenbosch6353
      @petervandenbosch6353 4 года назад +1

      Multi Frequency is a bonus but is not everything. My Xp Deus '(light) finds in single frequency everything my Equinox 800 finds in multi frequence and is better hitting on coins in parcs. If i had to choose between the single frequency Deus or Multi frequency Equinox i would go for the Deus.

  • @inventor1v

    What a shame you didn't make it waterproof though, you have just missed the target with this one, plus the price is too much for a non waterproof detector. It so could have been a simplex and vanquish beater if you had those got two things right! Such a shame!

Question in reference to the charging port, I hear through the grapevine that some APEX owners have been successful at adding a permanent small magnetic charging lead to the port that is left on all the time and fits under the cover for magnetic charging. We all know how ports can get discombobulated over time - your thoughts.

      @@chrisjohnson3319 the point is to make their new line of machines multi frequency so eventually they will be leaving behind the old technology of the pro, gold, max, and focusing on multi-flex on the newer machines lol. single frequency machines are trash and that's why people left garret to go to mindlab. I can find 3 times more with a multi then a single freq. Also another reason why garret introduced their first mult-freq in the apex because mindlab was killing garret when it came to performance. I have the at pro and apex and the apex performs far better especially with the new update for the apex.

    5 distinct tones is a big plus….as a current owner of an ACE 400 and an AT PRO(both are good, for just coin hunting on the beach, the ACE gets deeper and finds more coins. I was surprised) could guess I’m a bit behind….was really hoping GARRETT would do a multi-freq VLF machine. Compare to the EQUINOX 800? …Garrett is 50% of the cost AND MADE IN THE USA.

    My ATP and an ACE 250 years ago before that have been great, bullet proof, reliable machines, with decent depth in the city (ATP). Particularly when tweaked to the limit. Unfortunately though this new machine just doesn't seem to have the same cost/value ratio as my Simplex. The price and not being submersible is the fly on my pie. Tons of great features though ! If I was newer in hobby and my only machine prior was a lower end ACE, I could see the jump. But I'll pass.

It is hard for me to grasp spending $400 on a machine that is not waterproof, not updatable and still AA battery technology. I would surely spend the $400 on the Apex if it just had those innovations. It still has that awful Garret iron grunt. Iron tones should be soothing to the ears, even at high iron volume. BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THE TREASURE IS IN THE IRON INFESTED SITES!!!!

      Hello! These two machines specialize in two different areas. If you are primarily searching for gold, we recommend you take a look at our selection of prospecting detectors. If you are looking for coins, relics, or jewelry or are searching on the beach, the Apex is an awesome choice!

    If the APEX happens to be a more advanced machine than the AT series, then the pricepoint should be somewhere between $600-$900 depending on the package they offer.

    Well I was excited at first but after having an ATMax that was a dumpster fire and selling it and going with the equinox 800. Then buying a simplex plus they are going to have to do better than this for the money. Last good machine I’ve seen from garret was the AT pro. Garret step up your game we know you got it in you !

      My ATMax-non-stop-chatter thing was a dumpster fire too. My ATX and AT Gold have been great machines. I was just about to buy an 800 and this apex thing surfaced. I pre ordered an apex almost 2 months ago but I’m tired of waiting. You like your 800?

    • @catmanntx
      @catmanntx 4 года назад

      @@kurts7216 Absolutely I have had great luck with the 800 and since the update it is really is stable. I plan on keeping it for a long time. I think I might be selling my 600. I don't even use it anymore.

    I get why they didnt make it water proof so they can add this tech to their AT Series later.. Maybe a APEX Pro... but sadly as a long time AT Pro user I was really hoping for something to force me not to buy a Nox800 like everyone else around me... I know this was aimed to kill the simplex and vanquish and they will come out with a waterproof one but I dont know I can wait any longer... Not sure how i feel right now.
