So, I bought a house with a pool with an auto cover and I have an auto cover pump for it. They used it as a winter cover, but I'm getting advice to use a mesh cover for a winter cover in order to lengthen the life of the auto cover. What is your thought?
Both can be used. In Virginia it's more common to use the spring loaded safety cover. The spring loaded cover is certainly more forgiving, meaning it requires less attention during winter months (if it's mesh) vs a solid automatic cover. Question should the anchors sit upper so that the hooks ride or lower because i notice a gap between edge of cover and concrete area surrounding the pool.

River Pools we clean pools and work on pumps . But people hit me up about automatic pool covers but no one does them here. Sometime people come from Albuquerque nm but it would be easier and better for my business if we did them our selves

Sorry this video didn't give you the answer you were looking for. Perhaps we'll take another approach on this one in the near future. To answer your question about whether an automatic cover is the best option for you...It really depends on what your needs are. Do you have small children around and need the safety on a daily basis? Do you have lots of trees around your home and want to keep debris out of your pool when you're not swimming? Do you want to be able to heat up the water naturally? Will your pool use saltwater (and you don't mind the idea of potentially replacing parts early due to saltwater corrosion)? Does the idea of additional maintenance and upkeep for this type of cover NOT worry you?...These would be reasons to move forward with an automatic cover. If you don't need to cover the pool daily for safety reasons, don't have lots of foliage around your property, don't want to worry about additional maintenance or parts that could break, than we would say it's not the best option for you. I would not recommend an automatic cover. I have a coverstar and it is a very expensive piece of equipment that requires tons of maintenance with expensive repairs. The parts are not warranted very long and you are at the mercy of the pool techs. These guys don't always know what they are doing and can damage your system Also mine locked shut causing me to wait 3 weeks for repair tech to come out then another 3 weeks for them to come back to complete the repair. Ruined most of the summer for us. If you do get it, plan on at least $1500. every year in costs and open early so you can get them out before summer arrives. There has to be better options. These are not diy friendly either.
I have watched some of your “2 minute” info videos; so far you surpass by far the time limit every time. So forget about the “2 minute” thing! Your explanations are solid and good, but the 2-minute makes it a bit irritating when broken every time … Hope you stick to your delivery times in a better way! (Guess you do!)

Making one from shade cloth. Rolls out from ground, clips on sides and end. Whole set up will double as a bench seat..
