This game is so much more fun than it has any right to be. I played this game so much as a kid and it still brings a lot of entertainment more than 30 years later. In fact, my wife and I recently made a drinking game out of it.
This is why I love Mark: He totally understands what it's like to be a kid, having a putter at a mini golf course and wanting to sword/lightsaber fight with it!
I was just about to grab some ice cream when I noticed this video in my subscriptions and decided to give it a watch first. I think I got this backwards somehow...
Atari Logbook challenge: play on difficulty A (which means if it hits the hole too fast it bounces off). Pro: 36-31, Master: 30-26, Wizard: 25 or less. I would mark in the manual on the map where to launch the putter for a series of ricochets that will put it in the hole. But I would switch to B just as it arrived, so had to find new spots to make par keeping it on A. This game is one of the longest, like a 9-innning baseball, or a too-long football or soccer match. It needed variations so you could practice holes 3-9 without having to go through all the previous ones. He says it's more like billiards than mini golf, which is correct. Too bad Activision didn't take a swing at it with their better graphics; I would have liked to have seen water jumps, metal ducts, windmills, hills and so on. This was retired from the catalog in 1981 or earlier. I think you need the box art to get into it.
checked out that ethel the cyborg ninja and damn, I didn't know you were a comic artist as well, this is awesome, too bad the kickstarter campaign is over. But then again that way I can feel less guilty for not having enough extra money to fund it.
I totally forgot to turn down my phone before playing the video, was in the middle of Panera on my break. Though it was the best music playing at that time people still gave me weird stares....
I can't think of any hole other than number 3 where you may want your ball to hit it or be hit by it. That used to give me a hole-in-one, but I think I figured out a way of doing it without hitting the purple square.
"Let's see if I can't tap this in." That's what she said! Wow, this "Up Next Autoplay" system is going to cause a lot of errors down the line. And the timer is unforgiving.
Sc0pee What? I really liked the feature :( And I could turn it off whenever I wanted to, I don't know about you? I usually have RUclips running in the background while I do other things so it going to another video is a god sent. Apparently I'm in the minority, though, because almost literally everyone hates it.
2dog14 The old playlist was better imo. How do you turn this thing off? I hate it when I have to always press the cancel button to not get send to the next video automatically.
Is it wrong I now want to see a modern tech mini golf game where you play with a paddle? Turn to put your putter at the angle, hold fire and the speed/force spinning the paddle for power. If only my DB9 USB dongle supported the paddle. Supports 6 button Genesis pads ( so 8 actual buttons if you count start and the mode button which becomes a shoulder button!) and my 2 and 3/4 button controllers but.. No paddle.
Like I've said before Mark can review just about anything, and make it interesting. I have no doubt he could get on late night TV, and be selling wet dog shit, and it would become a best seller overnight. lol!
I wish he'd cut out the "brought to you by" part. I love the game reviews but have no love for the amateur comic art. I don't know who Ethel the cyborg ninja is and I really don't care. I mean I really really don't care.
I literally stuck with this game on Atari 50 for like 4 hours. Idk why this game is so satisfying and fun, maybe im retarded :D Theres somethign about this primitive design and nice beeping sounds.
That's what happens when you it's going too fast either under A difficulty or when the purple square hits it. I would hit it at A difficulty, then switch to B when it got near the hole.
"It's like the characters from Pong went to play golf."
I once was playing Miniature Golf on the Atari 2600, and then a bat came flying and took away my key while a duck was chasing me. O_o'
This game is so much more fun than it has any right to be. I played this game so much as a kid and it still brings a lot of entertainment more than 30 years later. In fact, my wife and I recently made a drinking game out of it.
when the Adventure square has the day off, he hits the links in Miniature Golf (as the ball) XD
Nope, as the putter.
4:10 That red block came out of nowhere !
That last shot was sick, Mark!
Something about watching mark play this game is hilarious
Era before circles was invented!
+Deep_wolf It was the era of the square.
Evil Otto brought us the circle.
Still one of my favorite 2600 games.
You're a square, pushing a square, toward another square! :D
sounds like minecraft :)
Another great atari review. I'll have to give this game another shot, Thanks
This was top of the line back in the day !!
Now that's a game that pushes the limits.
This is why I love Mark:
He totally understands what it's like to be a kid, having a putter at a mini golf course and wanting to sword/lightsaber fight with it!
Go home, red block. You're drunk. xD :P

It's like the characters from Pong went to play a game of golf!

Arnold Palmer is a Tea and Lemonade drink made by Arizona tea. Not sure who the old guy swinging a golf club on the bottle is though :p

I like how the red block stopped that awful noise! So it's not all bad.
Colfax11000 That's what she said.
Best review ever
Probably the best game ever made in history.
***** As well as Halo, Shadow of the Colossus, Spyro 3, Metroid Prime, All 3d Mario games, and Sonic 2
Best graphics, certainly.
When you only have 2 Atari games, almost anything other than Combat is the best or favorite.
love it mark
Ethel officially backed! Hope it's a success :)
4:53
That map looks like a creeper face!
Arnold Palmer was the guy that tried to jump Snake River Gorge on a motorcycle in the 70s
My God! Somebody get this man some Street Fighter and ice cream!!
This is one of those old Atari games that almost qualifies as abstract art.
I love this game!
1:10 Was it Ice Cream World on Harts Run Road? I grew up in Pittsburgh too.I remember they had a old fire engine there as well Also 4:23 Creeper Golf.
looks like combat meets golf!
Is it any wonder drugs were so big in the 70s? (the 2600 was my first console at 8 in 1980)
I totally forgot to turn down my phone before playing the video, was in the middle of Panera on my break. Though it was the best music playing at that time people still gave me weird stares....
Everyone hates the red block.
Everyone.

Mark needs to review Street Fighter 1!
"Let's see if I can't tap this in." That's what she said! Wow, this "Up Next Autoplay" system is going to cause a lot of errors down the line. And the timer is unforgiving.
Your youtube autoplay still works? Lucky...
2dog14 Why would you want it to work? It's a terrible feature: because itcan't be turned off :/
Sc0pee What? I really liked the feature :( And I could turn it off whenever I wanted to, I don't know about you?

There's a button to turn if off to the right of the screen. I haven't tried it so I don't know if it works.

such a random choice for a game on the atari 2600

Headphones + 4:33 = arrrrhhhhhh!
Nah. Your volume is too high up then.
So, the question remains: If you have a drunk friend who is a red square, what is their name?
I wish he'd cut out the "brought to you by" part. I love the game reviews but have no love for the amateur comic art. I don't know who Ethel the cyborg ninja is and I really don't care. I mean I really really don't care.
If you really didn't care why are you complaining about it?
That is how he pays the bills, by selling stuff. Look at RUclips's policy now of getting third-party sponsors. To pay the bills, Mark sells stuff.
Please review no one lives forever 2 and blitzkrieg 1 and blitzkrieg 2 also blitzkrieg 3 thanks love your show.
Zany Golf is the best mini golf game by far
This and Human Cannonball are much better with beer and friends.
2:00 I lol'd
classicuuuuuu
This game is wayy more fun than it has any right to be.
I literally stuck with this game on Atari 50 for like 4 hours. Idk why this game is so satisfying and fun, maybe im retarded :D Theres somethign about this primitive design and nice beeping sounds.
3:55 LOL it bounced off the hole.
mbsfaridi That's what she said.
***** I knew someone would say that xD

"Stupid red block."
go in your home ball, thats your home.
I like large golf
I can beat this; I can't do as well on Atari Golf.
One I do not own.
yooo
is this game boring xD ??
Yes it is I would rather play the original pong game.
yeah that's true xD
This game is pretty good with two players.
oh yeah :D
Too primitive a game to even be playable.
No such thing.
First!
This game is terrible.
