Man, how this is a 1986 game? The levels don't repeat, it has a great music, great gameplay, great graphics, great characters design and actually a big campaign for that time. It's a game above it time, I never played it, but now I want it
Taito were ahead of the game in 86 (like Sega with Outrun, a game with some of the best graphics of it's time). This game, and Legend of Kage were the beginnings of ZUNTATA, Taito's inhouse band/sound developers (they also played to packed houses when they did live concerts, massive crowds went to see them live).
Plenty of games fit this from 1986. In the arcade you have Gradius and Salamander already out, which certainly aren't super short games even putting aside their difficulty. Space Harrier also came out the previous year. Ghosts n Goblins too. Gauntlet wasn't super pretty but plenty long with lots of levels. On home systems 1986 is when Legend of Zelda came out. You also had Super Mario Bros, SMB2 in Japan, the first Goemon game, Metroid... Some of these games wouldn't reach the whole world for another year or two, to be fair.

Yes. A great game then and now. I don't understand why Taito made new games that had nothing to do with this original piece. I mean those Puzzle Bobble/Bust a move ones, which were nothing but an upside down Tetris. It would have been better if they increased this type in quality.
@Alchemy - C64-AMIGA since 1987 Thank you. I totally agree with you. In the past, a successful arcade had to find innovation and had to mix it with the essence of fun. But not only. A video game had to be developed for fast dynamics use. The times of use of modern consoles are enormous compared to those of coin-ops, so being able to insert a message for the gamer was a great added value.

@@diahhammoud2698 Yeah, something weird going on here. Some nice playing indeed. But, I have an original Bubble Bobble arcade game board in one of my cabinets. This player is getting away with some moves that you can't get away with on the original game board. 1. Is this MAME or arcade game board? Round 38 at 14:39, when enemy is in bubble, this player does a pop-jump at the same time. How do you do that? I thought if you jump on the bubble while holding down the jump button, empty or with enemy inside, you bounce. Not burst the bubble and bounce at the same time, when you burst the bubble, shouldn't you fall through it? 2. Several times, this player lands right on the head of enemy. Now I know if you time it just right and shoot a bubble while landing on the enemies head, you can get away with it. If you are just to the side of an enemy you can shoot and pop the enemy at the same time. Also, if enemy is coming from behind you and you fire opposite direction you can pop enemy at the same time. But to do it consistently from directly above, I don't know. I will have to practice this and see how consistent it is.
@@diahhammoud2698 And on round 52 at 21:27 enemy Drunk jumps up into him from directly underneath and dies when touching Bub. That should have been a death.

-Double Shot and Revolution (DS, wouldnt recommend the latter due to its bugs)
-Plus/Neo (Same thing, Wii and XBLA respectively)
Plus/Neo was the last official game in the series to include Bub and Bob. (Not counting Puzzle Bobble, which I think the last game was LINE Puzzle Bobble but it could've been Puzzle Bobble Universe]
@@voidsurger7038 , Taito also made similar games with this set up, such as Chak'n Pop (where the enemies of that game also appear, oddly enough, in Bubble Bobble games, as one of the enemies in that franchise), The Fairyland Story, and Don Doko Pon.
can't believe he actually waited for the huge witch to exit that bubble to give that final battle an extra thrill
i love the game happy part of My childhood
WELL PLAYED! Excellent job, and it was worrying me when you got to the end by yourself. I was scared you weren't going to get the happy ending!
best game ever
HE TAYO
Watching this brought so much good feelings I loved this for Nintendo.
Ugh, the music. Cute and bubbly at first, but after the first 5 minutes you want it to change!
How could anyone think such a thing!?
No, that was only in the NES version, NES arcade ports often had extra stuff thrown in them. My take on this game, one of my favorite arcade titles of all time.
Another trick its to put the initials of the makers when you do highscore, like PAN, TOP, OTO.
Taito's biggest IP born in 1986 (alongside with Arkanoid) is now 35 years old, the bubble thrower dinosaur duo always be legend due to all Taito IPs were respectable than other.
What I like is that he lets the tutorial play at the begining.
WOW! that was by far *the* most Grand Master playthrough I've ever seen!
Dunno, there's a few instances when he seemed to kill monsters just by touching them (not while invincible) - suspect a cheat involved.
@@rickstaism 100% right.
I've played this games hundreds of times over 30 years. There is no way in hell he could've pull3d those moves without being killed. He seemed to be headbutting them and nothing happens.
Super cheat mode.
With blue candy .you can shot bubbles kind longer .distance .with the yellow candy you could make multiples bubbles .and with red show you could run faster ......and with the candy can ..you can make fall a huge cake or fruit .......o MEMORIES ...
...and that music. That music NEVER STOPS. IT'S THE SAME MUSIC PLAYING THROUGH THE ENTIRE GAME! 99 LEVELS! And more, I think there's more...
