Today I grabbed my iPhone and headed into Mum's studio so she can take you through her new book.
25 years of Monica Poole's tips and techniques compiled into one book to help you make your own quilts from start to finish, quilt-as-you-go!
The trusty quilt-as-you-go companion includes five small projects to assist you in practising the QAYG methods, as well as Monica's quilting tips, ideas for breaking up traditional quilts, and links to her detailed RUclips videos for an immersive learning experience.
There are five quilt-as-you-go joining methods:
The joining strip method

I ordered the hard copy book only two weeks ago and it arrived at my home in Florida, USA yesterday! That was fast! The book was expertly packaged and wonderfully endured the long journey from Australia. The book is so beautifully made. The pages are high quality and the spiral binding keeps the book nice and flat. The pictures are also high quality and you can see all the details. Meticulous attention to detail is evident through the entire book. Probably the most informative and certainly the most organized and thoughtful quilt book that I have ever owned. It is a keeper! This is a great book for anyone who wants to do quilt-as-you-go. Beautiful pictures and well written instructions. Compared to the cost of sending it to a longarmer, my first QAYG quilt, the book paid for itself.

I have been following you first Monica and ‘hello’ to Alura.
I wanna shout out to you, Monica, that you inspired me and I love QAYG quilts as I only have a small domestic sewing machine (Brother) and I do tend to make QS or KS quilts for my family and friends. So QAYG are brilliant. I am a bit of scrappy quilt kind of gal. So will like to tackle the scrappy flower.

I was wondering what you were doing. Thank goodness you were not sick. I have been known to stay in my night clothes all day also. I'm one of those who cannot quilt a big quit on my small home sewing machines.
Oh yes, not sick, just busy with life haha. It is nice being in PJS all day 🙂
I love an actual big book for everlasting reference. This looks delicious. Congratulations! I did the Block a Day with Pat Sloan at the onset of the V!*^s (I believe March or April of 2020) . Due to just transitioning from garment sewing to quilting, I do not want to tackle free motion quilting a full quilt on my domestic machine. So, I put the blocks aside to study various instructions for QAYG. I find I keep coming back to Pattern Poole TV because of it illustrating more than one technique. I am thrilled to learn that all Monica’s expertise is now available in one “companion” and I look forward to getting my hard copy soon.

So from what I understand, there are the techniques and instructions for qayg, but no patterns?
There are 5 small projects that demonstrate each of the joining methods that you can use for practice before using the methods in your own quilts. There are photos of my quilt as you go quilts for inspiration, the patterns for these quilts are not in the book.
Will it be sold through Amazon as well? I’d like a hard copy but shipping to Mexico would be very expensive buying it directly from your site.
Yes, that is fair enough. We aren;t sure yet about Amazon as they don't offer the binding style we want. However, a PDF version is available on our website.
