    It is high time Mr Tokunbo and Lagos state Government start investigating those who are culpable in this act over the years, whether retired or still at service. They should be brought to book. Not all these decisions thing without considering others. Conscience first.

      Great question that deserves answer

  • @user-vb4hl2xo3b
    @user-vb4hl2xo3b 17 дней назад +13

    But the question to be asked is: who approved the building of the estate? If I buy a piece of land, I may or may not know that the area is not build able. If I get the permission to build and the building is later demolished, one will expect the persons and offices that approved the building should be brought to court.
    The summary of it all is lack of government presence or/and inaction.

    • @TheBronzeSage
      @TheBronzeSage 17 дней назад +1

      The issue is not the piece of land you buy but the gazette of the land; what will this land be used for? A developer will buy 1000 hectares of land and build on 1500 to maximise profit. When the government comes to do their own project and finds someone has encroached on their right of way, then they remove the structure. Papers of your land are not enough; you require a building permit for your enclosing fence; how many Nigerians go and get this permit? The developer is the responsible party and should be sued; asking the government to waste scarce funds running the length and breadth of Lagos is not attainable.

    • @jayo3074
      @jayo3074 15 дней назад +1

      So using your example, would the government only remove the additional 500 hectares that the developer built on or will they demolish the entire 1500 development?

    The government is complicit as well as the owners of the buildings. The government ought to have stopped the building even at the foundation level, apprehend the owners of the buildings, and prosecute them for trespassing on government land or erecting unapproved structures. Such actions would have served as a deterrent to others. For the government to have allowed the structures to be built to this level before being pulled down is wickedness and insensitivity. To those erecting structures without government approval, this is what happens in the long run.

      You are bringing sentiments to this issue. So the fact that these structures were illegally built under previous govts, so a new administration should turn a blind eye to the illegality?
      We say we want development but we condone wrongful actions by citizens and then blame govt when they act. There's no big city in the world where people build houses anywhere they like, its in Nigeria we see that and accept it as normal. Govt is taking the right step here but the people affected must be compensated

    • @omacooliz
      @omacooliz 17 дней назад +1

      I am not bringing sentiment. My point is there are approvals needed to erect a building. These approval were given by government body or didn't they inspect the place before giving any approval. We are our own problem... why give approval when you know the place is not meant for building....that is what I want to know. Were they not trained on how to do their job effectively instead of allowing someone to put their sweat down and you destroy it in a blink....it is not right

Igbos tomorrow go and buy the govt estate as surely they will build on these lands ask you to come and buy. Igbos both abroad and in Nigeris invest in your states and be a tenants in another states. If Landmark business of 250mill dollars can be pulled down overnight how much less your buildings. This man is quoting nonsense. It was obviously that since your brother Tinubu becomes the president of Nigeria, the Yoruba people was busy destroying Igbos hard earned properties in Lagos, claimed that Igbos want to collect Lagos from them. As if Igbos are not part of Nigeria, and your country refused to give them sovereign state of Biafra. From Tinubu swearing, to date is it enough notice in an economy that was in a shambles. Thanks to Almighty God that all of us are visitors in this world, and you will hardly bring the Israelites of Nigeria down. Mark my words.
