Interpret "use item" as a noun (i.e. items they're going to use), then figure out that "sord" is supposed to be "sword" (at which point it's clear that there's an implied comma between it and "food") Context does help a lot narrowing down what it can actually mean. Same goes for figuring out that "dark eye" means night vision and not an actual eye (there aren't potions involving actual eyes, and the only other potion affecting vision reduces it instead which isn't likely to be useful)

It's also not a coincidence the JP branch learns Indonesian quicker, and vice versa; their languages is just that compartible.
