    That's the original song, but the song SU was playing "Swang" was a sample of LL's and Michael Jackson's song that was done by Trae in 2006.

    ......Marched in the 70's and you had to read and play music with skill and high volume; not load your lungs, mash your diaphragm up your throat, and blow as loud as you can.
    None of these bands (Southern, FAMU, JSU, Tennessee St, etc. ) display musicianship. You can play with power and range but don't forget the musicianship.

    Marching bands today don't compare to the bands of the 70's back during the super groups, The Funk days (EWF, Confunction, Wonder, Prince, etc.). Todays bands play a lot of whole notes, half, quarter, and a couple of 16th notes. Mostly a bunch of whole notes, loud, and ofter.

    All of us have a type of enemy-friendship bond and without a doubt we just laugh at the display today. Our battles were not through drums. You had to bring it with your ax. We didn't do pop, lock, hump, grind, and a sex show all the time. What happen to Patterns in Motion, real coordinative dancing to the music? Horns go down to yell before a hiccup. High knee lift is a joke. I would pay a band member to see 8-to-5 high knee lift & control instrument swing. That is marching musicianship

  • @nightcypha
    @nightcypha 15 лет назад +1

    First off, stop talking about this Dolls VS JSette madness when we're on this clip for bands. jsu got taxed .99 cents in this battle. And let's not speak of inconsistency when JSU has restructured their band 3 different times since 1996 to match SU's power. Don't believe me? Listen to jsu from back in the 80's till now. Nothing has changed about Southern but the directors, Juke and the Dolls who've marched. It's ok to be a fan, but damn girl.

    You never answered the question pertaining to your "balanced jsu" band theory. Since you want to single out sections in SU's band, then what makes jsu so balanced when you don't hear all of their sections?

  • @DTex
    @DTex 15 лет назад

    First off....to any youngster....when someone ask you "who originated this song?" and they're asking that of a rap song. 9.99999 times out of 10 the rapper didn't make it up. Heck, 9 chances out of those 9.9999, that rapper ain't even the first to sample the original.

    man southern cold real talk, i went to gram and i used to get pissed when they played texas songs cuz they did not blow hoes how they supposed to be blowned but when i heard su it was official, them boyz cold. im not a gram hater because i went their i just know that southern go harder than gram because they dissapointed me two years in a row at the bayou classic. oh nyghtcypa yall have band groupies.lol

    You're so defensive. Trust me when I tell you JSU changed. I have tapes and DVD's from SU/jsu battles from the 80's up until now. jsu was taxed back then and is definitely getting taxed now. The difference, as I stated earlier, is the sound. jsu is not the jsu of past and we know why. Now tell me when was the last time JSU out-played, out-perform and out-drilled SU? Remember to think while it's still free. Because when you find the answer, JSU would've been taxed again.

  • @LittlJohn
    @LittlJohn 16 лет назад

    Sir, you are sadly mistaken. Southern beasted JSU, go to SU game and you'll see the difference, not only is Southern better, but the arrangements, they're louder, more crisp, and the dancers look way better. JSU hasn't blowed on SU since 2004. I agree with you on the inconsistency, but thats because they'll crank so hard they are tired from roasting almost every band they play. They murdered everyone except for at the Bayou. The worst murder was JSU. I totally disagree about JSU.

  • @nightcypha
    @nightcypha 15 лет назад

    I didn't say you "said" it, but with your exaggeration, you might as well. Oh, so out of a line up of songs for jsu you brought two options. But the way you speak of jsu, they can play no wrong notes. If jsu was so balanced, why do the trumpets need to hang over? If jsu was so balanced, why are you trying to pick sections out of SU's band when its evident you can't hear sections in JSU's either? See where I'm going with this? Probably not....

  • @nightcypha
    @nightcypha 15 лет назад

    You don't believe that yourself. Don't let your pride destroy you from within. From pregame to halftime to the 5th SU put a beating on jsu. No one does tapes anymore. I have the DVD, but not only that, you can pull all of the clips up as well on here. jsu was taxed on and off the field; and they're literally being taxed to rent out Mumford East as well.

  • @nightcypha
    @nightcypha 15 лет назад

    Listen to yourself for a minute. Just sit back and do that. If you can't, then "think" before you type. Take your "opinions" away and look at straight fact. There is no way you can sit here and without a doubt believe that every song played by jsu is balanced and in the pocket moreso than SU. Just because you don't taste the egg in the cake doesn't mean the cake is made with none. Just the same as just because you "think" you don't hear trumpets or tubas doesn't mean they are not playing.

  • @jam0to9

    We had a rule back in the 70's. If you had to drop the horn and start yelling to the crowd some chant then why in the hell are you on the field with an instrument in your hand? Not speaking about dropping your horn during a dance routine to dance to a drum interlude. That's part of the show but yelling a chant with 70k fans in a noisy stadium; com' on man. Are you serious? No body can hear your behind yelling and that is what the instrument is for when you are on the field. You yell with it.

  • @nightcypha
    @nightcypha 15 лет назад

    This is what you're telling me: jsu has "gotten more power to their sound". You then go on to say that SU has no tubas or trumpets or woodwinds(based on "YOUR" ears). Thusly, SU takes an "L". Can you not see the failed logic in your statement? Let me spell it out: jsu hasn't been balanced since 1996 since each year they've increased instrumentation and "volume". When jsu increased their volume, then the word balance left. What you said about SU is a personal problem. I hear the band fine.

  • @DTex

    DopeGirl is definitly on that good dope. JSt. sounds horrible more times than not. If you're a JSt fan...just say JSt. is the best and leave it with your bias opinion. Don't even bring up SU...cuz, that's when points start falling out the bottom of your pockets.
    LOL @ naming Get Ready and Under Pressure as examples of balance. Even if we gave you points for those two songs..what about the rest of that out-da-ass book of JSt's?
    I hate for folks to look/sound that dumb..and, not know it.

  • @nightcypha
    @nightcypha 15 лет назад

    Never said you said anything about opinions. You got that all wrong. I'm merely stating fact. If fact was in you, you'd change your opinion. Your pride for jsu blinds you. But since you can't talk fact then you're stuck on a wishful opinion that formats out of an irregular opinion. But as it's said, opinions are like assholes; everyone has one. Factually, and actually jsu got taxed. This song alone is enough to discredit anything jsu played in 08. Keep living.
    "S"

  • @nightcypha
    @nightcypha 15 лет назад

    You got it all wrong. Opinions cannot be proven. But if your opinion makes you believe you're right, then you're sadly mistaken. That would be a personal problem. Your opinion is that jsu waxed SU. To believe an opinion is stupidity because it's null of face. "Factually", jsu was out-played, out-marched, and out-performed in 08. This is not an opinion, but fact-based on music and marching; thus making it true. You'll learn about fallacy once you enter college. Take heed to that class.

  • @jam0to9
    @jam0to9 14 лет назад

    You guys don't know what musicianship is. With this crap on the radio today all of your ears have waxed cold. You can't compare because you don't have examples to compare with. If we put the music in front of these bands that we played in the past, half of these band members would not make the band. The fast cadence of the FAMU I marched against was 50 to 60 beats/min fasterr. I saw FAMU do a half time in the ATL and the tempo of their introduction was shameful; was agreed by alumni friends

    you've got to be kidding me ... Southern is loud and that is abouuuuutttt it ... this arrangement like many of theirs has no depth ... they only aspire to play loud, which i do commend them but lets here music as well???

  • @nightcypha
    @nightcypha 15 лет назад

    Graduate from college before you tell me anything. You haven't even marched for an HBCU. That alone gives you no credintials to speak of any band. In lieu of SWAC hours, you're actually called a band "groupie". "It's better to be thought of as a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!". You can cheerlead all you want, but you know the truth. Try again!
