Jack Palance was at his peak in the 50's. This was the era when my dad was a teenager and he always raved on about Shane. For me Jack will always be the meanest gun slinger ever ... Jack Wilson :-)
One of my all-time favorite actors. With his chiseled features and menacing, imposing persona, he stole every scene that he was in. Amazingly, he never watched any of the movies that he played in. A truly unique and one of a kind actor.
He made every movie he was in, good or bad, a lot better. He never had his name above the title, never won lots of awards, and never made millions looking pretty. But he left every role bigger than the way he found it. Take Care, Buddy.
I always looked forward to a Jack Palance film because I knew it would be good. I still remember "Atilla the Hun" ,"Shane", and so many other films to which brought such a depth of character. He was unique and rightly so. So long, old timer, you'll never leave us.I must mention one film of his which I have watched many times,"The Professionals',in which he played the part of Raza.Lee Marvin,Burt Lancaster, Claudia Cardinale,Woody Strode also played strong parts. I reckon one of the very best Western films.
Palance was born in Lattimer PA (near Hazleton).. the hard coal region of Appalachia. There were no sissies in Lattimer. This was a hard working and hard playing kind of folks. He quite generously to the museum at Eckly PA and to preserve the history he was born in to -- he was a soldier in WWII (no sissies there either) and returning home did not return to the economically depressed coal region but went on to acting (and gave us so many excellent movies). We were looking in the mirror.
Beautiful tribute! Joyous chance encounter decades ago, Madrid Rastro (flea market), met him (Mr. "tough-guy") searching to add to his collection of petite music boxes...just another of his multi-faceted charms.
In the movie "Attack" when he uses his last breath to try to kill the cowardly Eddie Albert character, as a believer in the judgement and afterlife it was one the most powerful scene ever played.
He was in so many movies. He made a great impression on me. You actually believed in him he could be a good guy or a bad guy. They don't make them like him anymore he was incredible.
Stood next to him at Aron Brothers Frame store in early 1970's ,in Hollywood CA , He was gorgeous...He asked my advice on a frame . I could not form words I was so star struck . He blew my mind ..
Thank you, mickh18. He was the ULTIMATE gunslinger in "Shane"! I really liked his performance in "Attack" (1956)! Eddie Albert deserved an Academy Award for his performance as the cowardly Captain in this movie. . .
We Palahnuk's are all proud of Jack's accomplishments. A long line of natural theatrical, musical talent and good looks. For another example, type in Nick Palance in the search box in RUclips.
Suzi how many brothers did Jack Palance father had I've come across two cousins one is Chuck Palahniuk and the other Nick Palance the singer. In Latimer cemetery of a Ukrainian Catholic church there are two Palahniuks one spelt different. Jack's father arrived in the USA in 1913 aged 15 worked the mines for 40 years dying of black lung disease.

A Ukranian actor? Gee! Besides being born and raised in the USA, - if anything, he was a world citizen who acted all over the world. He of all people would be offended if he would be put into a narrow minded tribal, nationalistic box.
Great actor, great man. Most definitely a unique personality. He made the world a better place.

A handsome looking man, Jack Palance was. Even more so when he was younger.
Thank you! This was obviously put together by someone who loved him. Definitely an actor we shall always remember as unique.
Gracias por tu aportación. Uno de los grandes, no muy valorado.
He made every movie he was in, good or bad, a lot better. He never had his name above the title, never won lots of awards, and never made millions looking pretty. But he left every role bigger than the way he found it. Take Care, Buddy.

He wasone of my favor actors. I admired him very much, as a tough person, he mmostly
portrait. I miss him very much.
I think his chiseled face pretty much typecast him. He was an underrated actor, in my opinion.
Nice, one of the best actors
They had faces then, and talent.
Харизматичний актор, позитивна людина, талант.... - гордість України!

Pra mim será recordado como Jack Wilson, no filme "Shane",de 1953 ...Tinha eu 42 anos ....
Jésus Raza... my favourite role in The Professionals western 1966 with Lee Marvin... RIP friend
Fantastic actor
Best films - Shane (1953) Attack ( 1956) The Big Knife ( 1957).
He looked real tough in real life. Not someone you would mess with.
I guess he took that to the screen with him.
Balenza345 That's just a facial perception though isn't it? Vinny Jones and Harvey keitel have it too. Just faces....
Mike Hunt Nope, Palance was a heavyweight fighter, before an actor, and knocked most of his opponents out.
His 'look' was genuine.
manonamountain Thank you.
You're welcome :)

Your video was very well done. Can you please tell me the title of the music?
He gave a sterling performance as Jack Wilson, the gunfighter in "Shane."
Outro gande ator maravilgoso fez grandes filmes
100% Best
His performance as "kaleel" from the buck rogers show at the 7:00 mark in the 70's scared the crap out of me as a little kid!
He had a beautiful daughter, Holly Palance.
@Steve Darmondy, music by Ennio Morricone - Deborah's theme
Reminds me of Klichko brothers, also Ukrainians.
Chet Rollins: "Nobody gets to be a cowboy forever. " monte walsh, 1970.
