    Excellent video! Your advice seems spot on. And on a personal note, I also appreciate your delivery, which is blessedly quiet after all the hyperactive "HEYWHATSUPY'ALL!!" style of so many YT channels. Keep up the good work!

      This is very kind of you to say, thanks so much. I often feel like I should have more 'HEYWHATSUPY'ALL' energy, but I'll just keep being me 🤔😂

    That's one problem I don't have - I live in the Highlands. Cudos to those of you who train for hilly ultras without hills! And I second the comment about your calm delivery. I appreciate not having my ears assaulted!

    STRENGTH TRAINING!!!!! Gosh I’m absolutely shocked that any runner would still neglect it with all the science now available!!! I also make sure to do 1 or 2 yoga/ Body Balance sessions per week with lots of barefoot balance exercises … truly underrated in the running world!!!

    I wish I had watched this 3 months ago! I blew my quads on UTS 25k a couple of weeks ago running the steep downhill, but that was a training run for the Cateran Yomp I'm hoping to run in 2 weeks time. My lesson from UTS - take my time on the downhill sections! I'll be doing this afterwards so my future ones aren't nightmare quad burners!

    Not much an issue here in southwest Türkiye, but finding flat territory for flat road races can be a pain. I always include two other elements for all hill run training blocks:
    1) Stair running on a metal footbridge over a main road. Gentle 5km run down there, then run up/down the 42 steps continuous 20 times (1680 steps) in under 12 mins (+110m gain). Then run 5km home (another +110m gain).
    2). Tyre pull running. Between 8k-15k once a week, including 3km up a 5% steady incline. Great muscle adaptation for those long dragging hills. Occasionally I'll do a long distance pull (max 31k).

    • @ChrisBranch
      @ChrisBranch  5 месяцев назад +1

      Ooh yes, tyre pulls are great!

      Thanks so much! I do a 10-minute warm-up in Z2, then I do 2 x 15-min in high Z3 (~157 HR for me) with a 3-min easy between, then a 10-min cool-down.

    Hey Chris, which slant wedges have you got? Seems like a great tool to have!

    • @ChrisBranch
      @ChrisBranch  9 месяцев назад

      I have two sets, one at work and one at home. One I got from here: slantboard.co.uk/collections/all-products/products/adjustable-single-slants ... but my cheaper ones off Amazon are exactly the same.
      But yes, they're a tool every runner should have!

    What tempo work out do you do on treadmills and steppers?

    • @ChrisBranch
      @ChrisBranch  20 дней назад +1

      It's a 10-15 min easy warm-up, then 2 x 15-min blocks at the top of zone 3, wit a 3-min easy recovery between each block, and then a cool-down (sometimes I do the cool-down on a flat treadmill if my legs are gassed 😂)
