If White Star had survived and the Oceanic been completed she would've given the Queen Mary and Normandie a run for their money. To think of the transatlantic history that could've been.
If she existed, Queen Mary wouldn't exist as the government only accepted to help finance only one of them (WSL or Cunard) it was Cunard IRL but it would be WSL in that timeline.
Riley Williams : Only in size and luxury would the Oceanic have given the Queen Mary and Normandie a run for their money, but NOT in speed. The Oceanic would NOT have been a trans-atlantic speed Queen like the two other ships because the White Star Line was uninterested in speed records while both the Cunard Line and French Line were looking to set trans-atlantic speed records.
If the Oceanic was built, and if she actually sank, that probably would have been the final nail in the coffin for the White Star Line during the great depression.

In a way, the RMMV _Oceanic_ did sink. It's just that, in her case, she did so metaphorically.

tbh I have to admit that I'm genuinely surprised she didn't split under the immense strain her hull would've been subjected to... she was, after all, meant to be a HELL of a lot bigger than Titanic, not to mention ANY ship that had previously existed, and would likely of pretty much torn herself in half while sinking...

most of the sinking ships you see on this channel are fictional stories the ships are real but they didn't sink except the ships that actually sank like titanic, britannic, estonia, bismarck, lusitania etc. and RMMV Oceanic was to be a real ship but due to great depression only her keel was laid and it never got finished. This channel wouldn't be anything if it wouldn't make videos of sinking ships.

I really would've loved to have seen Oceanic III be built and put into commission before the WSL went tits up and was forced to merge with Cunard (who were great rivals since the very beginning) to get a government subsidy to complete hull number 534 (RMS Queen Mary). Only a handful of original WSL ships were kept in commission and a few years before WWII began, Cunard dropped White Star from their name and the MV Britannic was the last ship to ever sail for the WSL from New York on her last voyage...sadly. Today the WSL is only remembered for the most famous ship in history, the RMS Titanic unfortunately.

I’d say, The Oceanic, if completed would’ve probably been magnificent. Though they sadly joined Cunard in the 1930’s soon not allowing new White Star Line ships to be built.
Not true, Oceanic III was cancelled and scrapped years before the merger even occurred.

I wouldn’t say the parts were reused on Britannic and Georgic, as there’s no real way to confirm the metal from the incomplete Oceanic III was used for those ships, especially considering Britannic had already started construction long before Oceanic was even canceled, as Britannic was intended to be a running mate to the Oceanic.

Britannic III was laid down in April 1927 and Oceanic was laid down in June 1928. It was only the Georgic (II) that was ordered after the cancellation of the Oceanic, which would now become Britannic III’s running mate.
The ship would have been beautiful and a huge money maker though too bad White Starline wasn't given a chance to complete the ship.

I wonder why someone is always sinking one of our Liners that were scrapped years ago. I can barely remember sailing in Queen Mary before we switched to air transport. I think we were on the last voyage home to England back in 1965.

It may be incredibly rare to find anything definitive. Word is Cunard discarded many of the Oceanic's surviving files in the 1970s.
