- Gustavo Dudamel conducting! I recorded this years ago but I don't think anyone has uploaded it yet. My video is a little grainy since I shot it from far away but stick with it, I shot the bigscreen monitors toward the end to get some of that super-cute Sutton Foster mugging.
Thank you so much for uploading this. Sutton is just so fabulous, I love her so much. I have no words, seriously. 🥰🥰
Great job zooming in - whenever I'm just a little...down...I'll play this again!😂
Marvellous!
One of the great Comden & Green lyrics, with Leonard Bernstein carefully tailoring the music to Rosalind Russell's restricted vocal range. When they revived their "A Party With.." revue in the late 1970s, Betty Comden was slightly apologetic about the song, saying that if they were writing it "now" they might write it differently; but I think she was wrong, as evidenced by the audience reaction here (not to mention the Broadway revival with Donna Murphy). In any case, Wonderful Town premiered in 1953 and more importantly takes place in the 1930s. (Am I the only one to think that Ruth Sherwood might prove a somewhat better fit for Sutton Foster than Marian Paroo?)
