Playing in mid ladder against overleveled opponents is a pain. You have to spend so much more elixir just to counter their cards , and they can keep spamming mindlessly and still get damage.

you know eragon a lot of the time i see top players like u when they make a midladder video you keep trying to make sense of the players' decks or their plays or whatever, and it's so funny to me bc as someone who's been in midladder for a long time there's genuinely no reason behind the decks or the plays LMFAO
most midladder players just put cards in their deck because they like them, not bc of any synergy or elixir cost or anything, so trying to guess their deck is a no-go - just know that they have a tendency to pick cards from the earliest arenas because those are the ones they're most familiar with, are the easiest to play and have at the highest level. mega knight too bc it's super easy to play as well.
a midladder player doesn't really think about interactions. in their mind, it's "if they attack, i should kill their attack, and if they don't attack, i should place all my cards at the bridge", but they don't actually put much thought into what specific cards to use to counter or attack beyond using splash units for swarms. they'll just use the card they like most most of the time, even if they don't have enough elixir for it to actually come down on time to defend. if you watch some really deep midladder replays, you'll notice this - they really do not put any thought into their plays beyond their purpose, which is either attack or defend, so their micros aren't just bad, they just don't exist. i've seen level 14 barb huts being placed at the bridge and shit they genuinely just don't care bc everyone else is so bad too that it works
they don't keep track of cycle and they very rarely predict, and most of the time their "predictions" are just stuff they learn by trial and error; for example, around the end of this video, one of the players played a mini pekka and a log immediately after, and you interpreted it as a skellies prediction that they only messed up bc you didn't have them in cycle. i can bet you ANYTHING that they were not thinking that far into it. most likely they were just logging because most of the time in mid ladder a naked mini pekka/prince/whatever at the bridge is countered with a skarmy, and that happens so often that just playing the card and then playing a random spell in the area often gets them a bunch of damage
