Hey Everyone - just so you know my account has not been hacked! It's an entirely different spam account commenting under each of your lovely comments. I'm so sorry - please don't trust any of these imitators. They're ruining the comments section and it's taking RUclips so long to sort out (it's not just me it's affecting - much larger channels are being targeted too). Sending all my love x
Small audience? You’re well over a half million subscribers, Mary. Not too shabby! You are an inspiration. Your creativity, both musical and technical, and your breadth of knowledge are extraordinary. I fully enjoy following you on your musical journey. Keep going!
Excited for you. I did it backwards. Years ago (through a unique deal) my band got to record an album in a world class studio with a producer. Spent 2 months there back when I knew nothing. Now after years in my home studio I'd love to do that again now that I know more. Look forward to hearing your results!! Enjoy it and Good Luck!!!
Ms Mary... I am excited for you. I how you're able to release an album and blow out the Indy market, document the how to part of building an album, and increase your subscriber-ship, all at the same time. You are a wonderful example of the don't quit attitude in this industry. We all need someone like you that we want to follow, and I choose you. So glad you brought back "Tuesday Talks" as I find them to be hugely interesting and informative, plus it's where we get closer to you as a person/artist/writer/creator. Don't stop, you are in the process of becoming famous, which is very fun to watch too.
I've written books and other projects before but I'm finally writing the book that's been in my head for 20 years. I didn't have the time, energy and ability before to tackle this but it refuses to go away and I've started it because now I have all that. Your project and your drive is inspiring to me! I'm excited for you and excited to watch your journey with this.
Congrats Mary! My dream came true during covid where I wrote and co produced my 1st studio album (7 songs) I waited 13 years but the majority of those years I haven’t been full time going hard after music although I wrote hundreds of songs. I travel and speak and do music as well as pastor so I have had friends and supporters similar to you however much less public in terms of social media. Being independent and Canadian has been quite an experience. Like you I had no end date in sight but am extremely happy with the outcome of the songs. So excited for you and this journey!! I’ll be watching and cheering you on!
Well done Mary and good for you. Music finds its way forward by taking opportunities outside of the box rather than through traditional means where the majority of folks focus their efforts. Finding your way. Bravo.
Exciting! Would love to see a follow up video discussing the differences, pro & cons of the different recording experiences once you've finished and processed it all! Good luck!
Hooray! I'm so excited for you. Savour the studio times, and have fun :) PS you already know I think doing it the way we're both doing this music life is the very best!! Keeping up with major label artists isn't even in my mind anymore, those labels are just guessing and hoping and throwing vast amounts of money at people to see what works. When it doesn't, those artists are high and dry. We can always keep doing our thing, that's what's most important to me.
I do love these Tuesday Talks as a catch up it brings a quality of a personal touch to us who are interested. You do right, sounds to me the going with the flow of things with the studio is a marvellous situation to be in, even though you aren't used to it, changing it around instead of routinely doing things does the creative process a more positive outcome, I hope everything goes well for you 🤞 enjoy the process!!!
Thank you for keeping us informed Mary. It's enjoyable to hitch a ride on the most important part of your life, the journey. You are polished and professional as always. Cheers!
This is extremely exciting Mary! I love your full production releases as much as I love your podcasts, videos & cycling adventures! Whether you're stomping on your favourite guitar pedal or a bicycle pedal I'm 110% hooked!
Mary, it’s fantastic news that you’re doing a full studio album, I’d order a copy now if I could! Given the quality of everything you do I have no doubt that it will be beautifully recorded and mastered. The songs being brilliant is a given. 😄
I hope you had a great Easter Sunday weekend. The new album sounds very exciting.. I am looking forward to listening to it and buying it. A great project. A great challenge. This will be a great achievement.
I love your candor Mary. I wish you the best in your album experience. You're a creative young lady with a unique style. Have fun. Looking forward to hearing finished results.
I'm very excited for you! I miss the studio, but it's been impossible to find anyone to be in a band with me, which is infuriating since the SF Bay Area is supposed to be a mecca of musicians. Maybe COVID lightening up will help a bit. But I'm glad you're getting this opportunity. You deserve it!
You know I'll be along for the ride, every step of the way. Hel's Bells, as long as you're making content, I'll be around. Love your music, love your energy, super infectious, and gives me the drive to keep on keepin' on in my own journey of music. Really looking forward to what's to come!
Thanks love hearing what your up to as well as your music! Great tales from the road and adventures in Spain! I’ll be checking in on your post’s on Nebula.
Nice. I’m a newish sub, but having gone back and watched a bunch of your videos (as well as listening to your music) and you’ve been on quite an exciting journey.
Love hearing your thoughts on the "process" of making an album. I've been working on mine for the better part of the last year. The journey of growing the songs and seeing what they evolve into is the greatest reward. Enjoy the journey. Looking forward to your release!!!!
Glad you're growing in your creativity. Also want to remind you Larkin Poe should be near you soon. Hope you have time to interview them. I'd like to know if they ever met Molly Tuttle (you interviewed her) back in their bluegrass days. ❤️🇨🇦
Mary, your idea for this candid series of videos on the process of creating, recording, and producing an indie artist album is very exciting, and I'm eagerly looking forward to it. Also, from one cycling enthusiast to another, please know that it's impossible to get too involved in such a wonderful pastime (so long as you don't decide to chuck your music career and devote the next decade of your life to becoming a women's professional cycling champion). Be well and take care. 👏💯🤙
Mary, good luck with the full album! Sounds like you're in great hands with Pau. When you were showing off that one Fender recently and then showed his pedal setup, I could sense a good chemistry there. I am an unsigned artist myself in the U.S. I had perhaps two albums' worth of materials I wanted to record prior to the pandemic. I haven't been working so much during it and continue writing and exploring my secondary instruments so I now have probably double the materials. I'm unsure how I want to release it all...kind of almost want to record it all, then group it altogether with certain songs grouped together with like sounding ones. Another thing, maybe a slight problem, is that I kind of write in multiple genres with my songs (which may help to dictate which songs I group together for whichever album). It IS expensive, but you want to take your time to release your creations properly -- you wouldn't feel right rushing it out. I have an album out digitally and on streaming which I know I'd have done much better if I had more time. If you have any advice you'd be happy to share, I'd be eager for feedback. Thanks for all you do! Love your videos and your songs!
Sounds very exciting and important. And major labels and big bands are generally overrated by a public and fan base that seldom follows or knows them like they often claim. It's easy to listen to the top two songs of an album that gets full marketing and is played twenty times a day for two months, but that really says nothing about the artist or music and is a little empty if you feel me on that. But when you hear an artist make an announcement about a project and see at least some of the process and sometimes the frustrations or other emotions on their faces then it can make fans or even casual admirers feel like they shared in an important and intimate part of a larger story. Some musicians maximize that concept but many don't even recognize it (to their loss I think). In my opinion, you do things as you are guided to do and when it is the right time so it is hopefully working for you the way that it was meant to. My disclaimer is that if any of the above be considered wrong then I take no responsibility for having stated it. ;)
Hi Mary, I love your videos. I attempted to be a guitar player for many years. I finally gave up and turned my love of guitar to fully appreciating those with the actual skill, ear, and talent I couldn't seem to muster. It was the best decision I've ever made! It liberated me to fully embrace music as a listener. And, when I found your channel, I found something that I really needed. You offer me a deep understanding of the craft and process of music to further deepen my love of listening. Now that I know you are an avid cyclist, it all makes so much more sense to me. I have been a cyclist, amateur racer, for most of my life. I love bikes. I have learned the key to life while riding a bike--We move therefore we think. "That which we call thinking is the evolutionary internalization of movement". Finally, on a bike, I have discovered the place where suffering and joy are indivisible. Be well and keep making wonderful videos about guitar and cycling!
Very cool! Very exciting for you! No music is for everyone, so be true to yourself and play what you like. Of course, you know this already. I probably heard it from you in the first place anyway. 🎉
Great news! I'm hoping you will be using different guitars on different songs, or multiple guitars on a song to get different tones. I like hearing the different sounds.
Good luck with the new album. One of the other nice aspects of what you are doing is you don't have anyone from a major label trying to tell you what you should be recording or how you should be recording it.
Thank you so much for sharing your vision! You will doubtlessly succeed in this endeavor. Just a thought, have you considered doing a duet with John Mayer? I think your voices would complement each other quite well.
Very informative video! I got anxious just listening to everything you have going on and "and on your plate". I grew up in a different time period with less complications and less competition that you currently are experiencing. Then you said something. That you've been doing this for 16 years and are currently 31. This hit home for me as two major changes happened to me at age 31. I got married for the first time and my career took off. The first promotion was more of a lateral change but I ended up buying 3 homes in 3 years due to promotions at different locations. And this continued for awhile. I also took up racquet ball 3 times a week along with golfing once a week as it was necessary for not only physical health but mental health too. I sponsored someone on patreon for 2 to 3 years and I think it's time I started giving back to you for all the wonderful music you have provided me. And educationaing me by making me research a few acoustic guitar RUclips videos/songs you performed so wonderfully. I apologize for the length & my rambling comment.
It's a pleasure to see you wearing something other than black, first of all. Second, producing your own studio album is quite a chunk to bite off - big hopes for a solid return on that investment of time, energy and money. Finally, as always, I remain enamored of your speaking voice and that "Bristol" accent. Good stuff. Keep up the reports!
@MarySpender Greetings Again from Marine City Michigan U.S. Once again absolutely love your channel and this was different but equally as good edition of "Tuesday Talks" LOVED IT!!!! I like you because for some reason every time I hear you sing I think of the Singer Mary Chapin Carpenter.
Your love has been received Mary, thank you 💜
The scammers looked very obvious to me. No worries.
Sorry you have to deal with this garbage. You are my favorite RUclips channel.
Thanks for the update, like a complete idiot I nearly got caught before I realised I'm an idiot. 😱

Hi Mary!
Did you know that you resemble Violet Orlandi? You could be sisters. Would be a great collaboration with your voices and style. Check it out!
Exciting times ahead! You will be fine.
Love to have toosday talks back! Why I fell in love with you years ago...

Hi Mary... I love your Voice so mutch. ⚘💋 *RD* Munich-Germany
Great for you Mary. I’m excited to hear it.
I signed up for Curosity Stream using your discount code. But when I log in I can’t find you. What do I search on? I used your name.
Exciting! Hopefully Rick Beato will help you not re-invent the wheel. What a great resource to enjoy! It is a big deal! It's a new world.
You are living the journey... My one suggestion is to open yourself up to writing with others. You will be surprised when you finally try it....
Someone like Pau could probably help out, and some of the people she collaborated with in the other videos might make good collaborators, too. She should try it!
