I've always thought that when he did this kind of video he would just record both seperately and then put one on the right and another on the left, against a well lighted background the cut in the middle usually goes unnoticed, but how did he make the shadows "fuse" with each other in the middle?

He probably used a green screen with lighting coming from the front
