  • Your Mobile - Pensacola - Gulf Coast Area Weather Forecast for September 29, 2024
    - Active Tropics - Possible Gulf System - Quiet Locally -
Dry and warm conditions are expected to continue over the next few days. Our mornings have been pleasant recently, but our afternoons will continue to feel hotter. In fact, temperatures will reach around 90° each afternoon through about mid-week. Later in the week, we'll see the return of moisture and slightly higher rain chances in our area. We'll also be watching the Gulf of Mexico for potential tropical development at this time. An area of disturbed weather located in the western Caribbean will likely move north and end up somewhere in the Gulf of Mexico late this week. Exact details on the positioning and intensity of this potential system remain uncertain at this moment. However, we expect to have a better idea of what will happen by around mid-week.
    TODAY:
It's been another comfortable morning across the Gulf Coast with temperatures right around 70°. This afternoon we expect a hotter feel with temperatures near 90°. Today will be mostly sunny with just a few clouds developing in the afternoon and evening. At the beaches today, there's a medium risk of rip currents.
    THE WEEK AHEAD:
We expect a quiet and warm start to our week. Temperatures will be around 70° each morning, then climb into the upper 80s to 90° each afternoon. We have no rain chances at least through mid-week, but we'll be watching for more moisture to move in later in the week.
    TROPICS:
We're tracking multiple areas in the Atlantic, including a couple of active systems. However, none of these pose a threat to the United States.
The area that has our attention is a broad low located in the western Caribbean. This tropical disturbance will likely move north and west, potentially entering the Gulf of Mexico late this week. It has the potential to become a tropical depression or tropical storm before impacting some portion of the Gulf Coast. The exact details regarding timing and impacts of this potential tropical system are highly uncertain at this moment. We should have more information about this potential system by mid-week. We recommend that you review your hurricane plan, as always, and check back with us for updated information in the coming days. Understand there's absolutely no reason to worry, and we'll have plenty of time to provide you with the necessary information so you can be prepared if something were to come our way.
