Die österreichischen Architekten Claus Schnetzer und Gregor Pils entwarfen eine temporäre Baukonstruktion nach dem Prinzip der Leonardo-Brücke. Als Konstruktionsmaterial wurden global verfügbare, kostengünstige Transportpaletten verwendet. Die Paletten-Grundkonstruktion wurde wetterdicht ummantelt, somit entstand ein begehbarer Pavillon.
Die Leonardo-Brücke ist eine Bogenkonstruktion, die erstmals in Form einer Skizze von dem italienischen Renaissancekünstler und Erfinder Leonardo da Vinci (1452-1519) in seinem Codex Atlanticus, datiert 1478-1518, dokumentiert wurde. Die Grundidee besteht in der Übertragung des Flechtprinzips auf starre Bauteile. So stützen sich die Bauteile durch geschickte Verschränkung gegenseitig. Fixiermittel wie Dübel, Schrauben, Nägel oder Seile sind nicht nötig.

Leonardo DaVinci figured it out long ago. It's a variation of his self supporting foot bridge 🌉.
Pure Genius using the arched timber bridge method to create housing. You could lay several layers of wire mesh over the arches and trowel cement into the mesh to make emergency housing for the homeless or refugees of disasters.
best idea yet just sandbag around it to insulate and its would make good shelter

Ja ich habe solch Konstruktion seit einigen Jahren Regenfest als Holzhütte stehen und mache auch Workshop mit Palettentunnelbau und Handbuch mit Anleitung

What is the boards cut angle and dimensions?
So far I'm testing it, not 100% sure, will know more this weekend, but the boards in the middle span about a full pallet width, plus some for the gap. I'm at 41-3/8" with 17° angles on the end.
I think that is 22'5° for a 7 pallet structure. For a 180° structure(8 union points in total)

If you want to put it to real use, you need to do the calculation. The pallet was not designed and built for this use.
Poor peoples and inventors of all sort have always made stuff from "not made for" things... Many of these things are now widely use all over.. And these guys litterally sits on top of the building in front of us..!!

Bad idea. Not practical and not robust is Nice experiment though. Useful as a game for learning design and construction
Not sure why you say that. The Romans knew the arch, whether built in a bridge or dome, is the strongest structure base. One only has to see 2000 yr/old remains to see what a good idea is.
Why bad idea? To understand it, you have to build a pallet tunnel (ala Leonardo bridge). My construction has been my wooden hut for 7 years, I can't imagine a more ingenious hut (winter and weatherproof and very stable and built without any costs).
