For that specific reason, of paying for unnecessary classes and being overly stressed only to barely pass, I am not going to college. For some people it works out and that’s great but school is super hard for me and paying for classes I don’t need is not my way of living and I’m not willing to die slowly so I’m very grateful you educated all of us on your experience. College is necessary for some things and a lot of people but not for me😂
For real though I’m so sorry you went through that😩💙you are an amazing artist! Don’t doubt yourself! YOU HAVE SO MUCH TALENT! People who don’t see that are blind. Stay awesome and stay you 💙
Thank you! I think college helps with specific skills for jobs. But with art you can gain the skills on your own. College isnt always necessary

This is so inspirational! I now want to go to art school.
I kinda regret not going to art school after graduating, I was accepted to the Joe Kubert school of cartoon and graphic art, it's a trade school specializing in comics and graphic art. But I was young dumb and in love lol so instead I moved out, got a job at a factory, and got married way too young 😅 . I wish I could've gone but if I did I probably would have my son, and I've learned a lot from life experiences so I guess it's not a total loss. I've never had more than an elementary school art class and I still have been able to make a living doing art commissions and some freelance work full time the Last couple years, it's a rough grind and I complain but I love it lol. Loved the video, and yeah that school is definitely fishing for money, and seems their classes don't really produce any individuality in their art students, sounded very cookie cutter
Wow! You've definitely lived a lot of life! Not graduating in the art path I wanted to and having the art career I wanted to has was giving me some regrets but I'm currently trying to teach myself so that i can work on comics again.
I'm glad you were still able to find your path with art. It definitely is a grind but I'm so glad you're sticking with it.
Also I'm glad I didnt stick around there either. Hindsight also showed me that It WAS very cookie cutter and probably wasnt the best fit anyway

Community college is so underrated, its a great way to figure out what you want to do before locking yourself into a narrow degree path and a LOT of debt. I started as a video game design 'transfer program' "major" in community college, and by the time I had my Associates, I decided to go to film school instead 😅 p.s. I completely relate to that transfer horror story, my community college program was linked to a 4 year university as a GAA guaranteed admission program for Video Game Design if I completed the Associates side, which I did, but when I applied to the GAA university, I wasn't accepted. (I think on the grounds they had too many GAA applicants that year but they didn't give me a specific reason). I took my credits to another uni and studied film instead since I'd spent the last few years making indie films anyway.
Hey, I recognize that building in your thumbnail, I went to that school! Although I wasn’t a transfer student, my art college experience was fairly similar to yours. It was pretty stressful to say the least trying to pay for everything and questioning if my art is even that good, I sometimes felt if I made a mistake it might not be worth it in the end. I ended up graduating in my 5th year at the university with a BFA in Drawing/Illustration last spring.

Thanks for the video! From a career viewpoint you made the right decision, any value you would have obtained from classes at that fancy university would not be worth the time and money spent.
Even if you are super passionate about your job, at some point you need to remind yourself that a job should be about earning money. Plus, while good schools can teach you a lot, a lot of crucial details you only learn by doing. I know more than one colleague who despite having advanced degrees in stem fields, still flounder on their careers because a degree can't help you avoid career pitfalls. You need practical experience for that.
Careers are hard man..
SO👏TRUE👏!! In any scenario I learned more from the critique of my peers or from trial and error from myself than from any specific class. I would say I had one professor that was a huge motivation and inspiration but that way in my community college where I started! The cheapest option of them all! So you're absolutely right

Hi ScomicMaker I gotta say your experience seems very interesting and sad but good thing your doing what you want to do right now with still being a artist on RUclips and tbh as you explained about it you don’t know your choice like with high school or collages yes I am confused and just worried on how it’s gonna go for me if I try experiencing it but I’m still just worried about how I’ll have to get forced to doing stuff that I need to do to enter collage or high school but I’ve just been drawing freely on what I can do and I’ve been practicing on and I just don’t know if they would even accept that the fact they do ask for certain stuff I’m pretty scared and don’t know what I would choose either because I also do lots of other things too I’ve been showing a lot on my channel mainly on stuff to just do it freely on my chances to show my talents and stuff I love doing but it’s difficult for me to know what I would choose for my future since my family members sometimes ask me: So what High School are you gonna go to or a collage?
I keep saying: I still don’t know yet I don’t want to stress out on it because I wouldn’t know my experience and be afraid
And also they do tell me I’ll need certain things in my Per-folio *I do not know how to spell it but I know how to say it I need to remember* but basically my style and stuff has just been anime things and stuff and for me, I have some autism and well I do get easily overwhelmed on stuff that gets me having lots of pressure and not know what to do first or what to choose but like I have this main question: if you didn’t know what college to choose or anything you can still go off to not go to college and do what you want to do while working hard getting money and things? Like idk the experience but I’m the type where you just don’t know your future yet until you experience it as you said I just don’t know what to do basically if I get closer to it
Sorry for the big message I usually type like my mom when it’s typing fast and a lot lol but basically this is what has been in my mind for so much reasons since I am growing up soon heading to high school

I only have Associates in Multimeda Computer Science. Meaning I can do digital drawings, 3D art, possibly games, and videos. But I've felt like I learned nothing with no job for 3 years after graduation. University looks expensive and all I did was move with my sister to learn how to take care of myself and how the outside world works due to parents sheltering me and told me that I'll be rich after graduation but nothing happened. I feel like they still rely on me to find something that pays more than enough, but due to my disability it's just very challenging. I feel somewhat ready after 3 years, but sister keeps reminding me that living alone will not be easy making me feel more nervous if it's really worth a risk if I'll earn enough or not for a living somewhere where I could learn more of what I studied in a very expensive city. I feel like I accomplished nothing.
THATS THE THING I FEAR ABOUT ART SCHOOLS AND ART DEGREES.
And it's okay to be scared about it! But dont stop yourself from going if you have a clear goal in mind! My recommendation would be to find one school and stick with it as opposed to tranferring

This was just my experience! It wont mean you go through the same thing! The community college I went to and the university I ended up finishing and graduating at was WONDERFUL and I learned so much there! Please dont let my experience stop you from persuing anything!

Hello! Thanks for coming! I use clip studio paint to draw everything then put it together in an editing program! All you need is a drawing program (krita is free) and there are some great free editing programs out there!

The school makes more money because I would either be paying to take more classes I didnt need in the mean time while trying to catch up or pay to retake the classes I already took and transferred over just to pass their portfolio review. Hope that makes sense
