I am so happy for you! To be able to now profit from something you had to do during your childhood is amazing. Your story embodies the quote: Your blessings are coming! I wish you nothing but the best, you are a warrior! 😊
@Camaro 1968 I hear ya, you just have a different lifestyle than I do. To me, being in a relationship would mean the ability to split the cost of necessities while doubling down on savings, all with the goal of creating passive income and a super early retirement of running off to live in the mountains or travel around the world. But, as evidenced by your comments, that's not what it means to most.
I know plenty of single people that are making around $50k - $60k and they all live in Boston just fine. The biggest expense will always be rent, but after that there are plenty of ways to save without compromising your life quality too much.
Another really great person with a fascinating life story. He exudes so much empathy and maturity. Keep up the great work CNBC in finding people of all types of backgrounds! Love the diversity. Go Jon! :)

This is an amazing story, Jon seems to really have things together and his kindness and eagerness to help is awesome! His budget looks great, I'd personally recommend his phone bill decreasing. I have a phone bill with Metro by T-Mobile with a family member and our bill comes to $90 bucks a month, $45 a person and we have unlimited internet, text, and phone calls with a 5G Hotspot included. He can get that with his fiancee and have $564 more per year saved up, which is enough for a round trip flight to Hawaii!
Only complaint would be I didn’t see any brokerage investing, he only had a savings account & 401k but that’s still awesome! He has such a good spirit!
It is if you pick the right person. Everything in life is a compromise/ team work. If you are in a relationship who doesn’t (besides medical problems and can’t) contribute then it’s going to be hard. Not saying it has to be 50/50 but the other half should be contributing if possible. My parents have always done that, even when they were both working at fast food restaurants in poverty till now being middle class.

Dude cut up the cards and get back on Dave Ramsey’s plan! Pause all saving and investing, put $1,000 aside for a starter emergency fund and throw the rest of savings at the debt using the debt snowball method, then raise your emergency fund to 3-6 months of expenses and leave it there. THEN start investing 15% towards retirement and saving up for a house. The baby steps work every time if you do them in order. I paid off 40k in 14 months and I don’t make some crazy high income. Today I’m debt free except my home, have a six month emergency fund, and I’m putting away 15% for retirement. It’s an amazing feeling.
