- This video shows the condition of the narrowboat when it arrived at Bluewater Boats, the pitted steel, the paint job and a tour of the inside.
We show how shot blasting and adding an epoxy paint system will protect this boat for another 10 years. Regular blacking is no longer required.
If you’re interested having your boat shot blasted and re-painted with epoxy, please contact us today on +441926 811699 or visit our website at www.bluewaterb...

Top quality work. The end result is a credit to your firm.
Thank you kindly 😊
a fantastic looking boat, thank you for going over the process
of how you work through the testing, painting and explaining
what is needed and how it is done...paint job is spot on and
a real piece of artwork...thank you
Great stuff, done really well. Thanks for posting.
I would have thought that using weld to fill pits would clean and dry the pit.
It depends on how deep the pits are. The best way is to shot blast the hull and spray a two pack epoxy blacking. This way the pits do not get any worse.
Great information video as always 👍
Ya'll did a wonderful job on that narrowboat. It looks beautiful.
Thank you 😊
I used three tins of epoxy on my hull, would that not tell you the thickness of the coating?
No, you would need a paint thickness meter to measure the thickness of the epoxy on the hull. Depending on the size of your boat is whether 3 tins (5 litre tins) is sufficient paint. Thanks for watching 😊
how many times do you overplate before you just start cutting plates off .
Topside paint is great looking too.
If the overplating is done correctly with shot
Blasting and two pack epoxy blacking there shouldn’t be any need to overplate again
Watch our next video as it will explain further
Would a boat made from cor-ten-steel be better
All steel needs to be prepared and painted correctly
How does the bottom of the boat get inspected and treated?
To inspect the base plate or the hull sides of a hull the boat needs to be craned onto either a slipway, dry dock or craned out. Depending on the condition of the steel as to how it is then treated.
