It looks fine, but I strongly feel the first tank is much too small for such large fish and it is definitely overstocked. Adult Discus even in a small shoal really need a tank at least a 50% larger tank - say 6 foot, a friend uses an 8 foot for the same number of Discus fish. I would also judge all the tanks too brightly lit - Discus much prefer dappled shade type conditions and tannin stained waters. And light coloured substrate is not normally ideal both for aesthetics (fish poop) and for the behaviour of the fish, normally fish behaviours and colouration are designed to help protect them for predators swooping down upon them, very light substrate makes fish conspicuous from above. Some fast shoaling fish, seem less affected by light substrate and some big heavy fish who move substrate about seem content in light substrate but having said that, substrate as bright as coral sand is pushing it.
Discuses have no particular environment other than the tank itself. Where they are located is adaptable to your situation. Discus can adapt to almost any environment as long as that environment has consistent elements of traffic, noise and your interaction with your fish. Maintenance, Water changes and feeding are all important activities that build trust. If you are netting your fish and scaring them more than necessary, each time you approach the tank your fish will be suspect about why. If you make the experience a good one you build trust. Plan long term for your fish so that they can continue throughout their life cycle to experience the same environment and not disrupt their life experiences and patterns. This is True with all Tropical fish but some more than others. Discus fish are in that category where great care in planning a safe and stable environment yields the best results. They are not that fragile, they just need your trust. Good Luck!
First tank was definitely overstocked. Not sure if that’s a 75 or 55 gallon. I think you can definitely keep discus in a 75 gallon just you have to only keep a few.
These aquariums have gigantic sumps somewhere I hope! Otherwise the space is too little for such large discus. The commentators don’t seem to be educated in importance of calculating tank size and fish load carefully before adding fish, or giving them new tanks if they grow too big.
You are both so right, it is extremely sad that there are animal owners who do not care about keeping them close to nature. And no matter how many observers think it is great! I would like to torture these people under the same conditions as these fish.
Everytime i buy discus groups they just pair up and chase/fight, get bullied and then refuse to eat then die, how do you have peace with them, whats the secret to stop them getting teritorial ?
Buy 6 or 7 depending on the size of your tank all at one time and the same size.... do not buy them individually or in pairs and add later.... Buy all at once and as stated the same size... they will not then be aggressive towards one another...
@@Indusxstan I raised 100's of thousands of Angelfish and tens of thousands Discus in the late seventies and early eighties. Want a lot of fast growth and consistent uniformity, raise them in crowded tanks, pump the food to them, just do huge water changes, and have perfect filtration. When Angels and Discus are crowded they don't burn as many calories because they don't have as much room to swim freely. They also don't have a pecking order where with only a few in a tank you do. One of two fish rule the tank and get the bulk of the food. Give me 30 Discus from the same spawn, you take 5, and let's see who gets the most growth and consistency. I know I would.
These fishes look amazing in dark background without any sign of peppering, then why does everyone say discus should be kept in white background tank. I wish if someone throw some light 💡and help me decide before I finally go for white background. 😕
Wowww... my aquarium is in the top 5 !!! thank you so much

Hello, Please advise how many Discuss I could have in my 4ft wide tank x 24" high x 18" depth. Thanks
1 discus per 10 gallons
That sounds like a 75 gallon. I wouldn’t put any more that about 4. How often do you do water changes?
@@kkkristi a 50% water change every 7 days.
I had 4 in a 55 gal

Way too much fish in these tanks 😒
So what?
Nope
Excellent.....
What's the perfect tank size for 6 discuss
Nothing less than a 75 I’d say. But I’d go w a 120 & try to keep some smaller school of same breed small dither fish w em.
Collection of loads of poor Discus being kept in way too little of tanks!! People, wake up!! They DO NEED MORE SPACE THAN THAT!!!!!

the first tank is too empty, the fish have too much space. I would at least put 30 discus in it.

bonjour jai un discos il as un problème sa peu craque a coté de l oeil
discuss is a very high maintenance fish, it needs pristine quality of water...
Fish name?
So sad. I’m feel so bad about these fishes!

The results speaks for themselves, shush.
All of these tanks are way too small for the number of fish that are in there. ALL of them!
I was wondering the same thing , I’ve had Discus for three years . I have a 45 gallon tank . I was taught one fish per 10 gallon .
You are both so right, it is extremely sad that there are animal owners who do not care about keeping them close to nature.
