i love that you guys didn’t jump to blaming either sister for what happened like most people seem to. vi was an overwhelmed kid dealing with things no teenager should have to and powder was a traumatized child with abandonment issues who made a mistake. just a horribly sad situation all around.
YES way too many people are pinning the blame on vi because shes older, like they forgot that shees only a teenager that just lost her friends and father, hitting powder wasnt right but it's understandable. Vi deals with her emotions through violence, and people saying vi abandoned her or shouldnt have walked off are seeing it way too black and white. She knew she hurt powder, so she was removing herself so she wouldnt hurt her anymore. How was she supposed to know that she'd get kidnapped, and that powder would believe that she abandoned her? I feel bad for both of them
Oh no it never occurred to us to put the real blame on either. I was so upset when Powder came up to Vi afterwards, all excited that her monkey bomb had worked, but then she realised what she had done. The animation along with the voice acting created such a real scene for Powder that left me mostly speechless.
@@CarlieAndAnge I agree, I'm pissed at both of them but I also feel sorry for both of them. If just small things happened differently, the end of episode 3 wouldnt have happened, like one could say if violet never even took them to rob the apartment in the first place, NONE of this would have happend. But also if powder didnt have such bad attachment issues and self esteem issues from losing her parents and milo constantly tormenting her saying shes not good enough, she wouldnt have felt like she needed to "prove herself". they're both kids who made bad decisions and we cant fault them for that, I'm sure lots of adults watching the show are just using common sense but sadly vi and powder WERENT adults when this happend to them, so they didnt know any better. It's a tragic situation for sure, the animation, writing, and voice acting are phenomenal in this show. The writers did an excellent job with making you see different aspects of each character. No character is just "evil" or "good" and that's it, they have depth and sometimes valid reasons behind the stuff they do even if its bad
@@f4iryth964 such a great insight, thank you so much for sharing! I totally agree that most people watching are adults and could easily point the blame on either one. But to be in the mind of a child and write the story accordingly, 😙🤌🏼 chef’s kiss
You know, I never really knew how deeply the "the most unlikely person will save the day" trope is inbedded in people until I watched reactions of this episode. So often it is "Powder will save the day", "she is gonna save them" and so on.
Personally I think that the scene when Vi sees the monkey head doesn't mean that she knows that Powder was responsible for the explosion (I thought so too at first tho) I rather think, that she believes that Powder came after them and it killed her too, given the way this scene moves along, Vi sees that her family has died right in front of her. If she knew from that head, that it was Powders doing, she wouldn't have asked "That was you?" afterwards
I think that monkey head was a setup for episode 4. Like, she saw the monkey head here in episode 3 and was clueless as to what just happened (and obviously shocked that mylo and claggor were dead). And then Powder told her thar it's her monkey bomb. And in episode 4 she recognizes that monkey graffiti and knew right away that it's Powder.
Eh, I think that's kind of optimistic. If she thought powder innocuously snuck with them she would have most likely ran to her to embrace thinking she died as well. Vi started off the scene side eyeing and confused with powder, the "that was you?" quote would have been her struggling to come to terms with powder being responsible for the event. After all, who would want to believe that their little sibling just wiped out the rest of their family?
Despite knowing what happens in this episode I still get chills watching the last few minutes. Powder's voice actress did a phenomenal job and seeing her come over excited thinking she was finally able to help out only to realize that she's killed her brothers and father breaks my heart. Even though the animation looks gorgeous this show is able to make me forget that it's animated at times because the characters and emotions feel so real. I'm excited to see your reactions to the rest of the season because the show only gets better from here. A bit of info regarding this episode without spoiling others: Silco isn't using magic or hextech to create shimmer(the purple chemical), it's more like a drug extracted from plants. That being said there definitely is a parallel, which you guys picked up on, between magic and science being used both to help and to hurt people. Also during the explosion scene the monkey bomb only exploded once but was shown from everyone's different perspectives.
She really did such an incredible job, the crying really got me. And yes I agree! I found myself saying “this scene was filmed so we’ll” because it was so lifelike and real! Thank you so much for the explanation, and the way it was presented. The monkey bomb thing makes so much sense now!
To clarify a couple of things with some spoilers. Shimmer is extracted from that animal Victor thought he was helping the scientist to save. It's the same guy but he was hurt in the explosion at the end of this episode and his lower face was burned. Second, there were three explosions. Powder put three of the stones inside the monkey. The monkey would clap on the stone, explode it and then another would fall into its place.
*I love searching "Arcane reactions" and stumbling on new reaction channels. You guys will really enjoy this series, and I'll enjoy watching your reactions over this show.*
I love how this show hits you with a tonal shift in episode 3, it's quite light in the first two when it's world building, then bam, it makes it hit so much harder.
Love how after being devestated by the deaths and the vi/powder interaction, we get to see a human and empathatic side from Silco as he sees parts of him self in Powder. And put his arms around her and tells her it is going to be fine and makes her a promise. The insane voice acting and gorgeous facials expressions really lift the show to great highs, and ofcourse the sick writing this episode is a straight masterpiece.
and the song in the end, it's really sad, it's like powder singing to his new father, "i can hear the sound of our herts beat, hold me closer, won't never leave my memories, blood shed all around, i can see a tear on my father's face" and it's as if silco answered her "How could i have ever let you down", and then there they start their way together "when all these trace, highest crow, cut our teeth and break our bones" And I think that at this moment, with crow they refer to the destiny or bad luck that they had to live, if they look at the series, crows appear, and in all the occasions that they appear, painful memories or events are involved. "plain of shields were made of stone, share our dreams and sit out thrones, be still" I interpret that with that fragment, they hint that they will unite, and will be there for each other, sharing the pain of betrayal, but sharing their "throne" together, which makes sense when you appreciate that silco preferred jinx over the nation of zaun, and if you read the rest of the lyrics, you can put your own interpretation to they new father daughter relationship, and the "goodbay" of powder to vi, and silco to vander, I don't know if I'm thinking about it too much, but seeing all the detail that they put into the series, I think they took pains to give meaning to absolutely everything that makes up the series, including the lyrics of the music.
Great reaction! The story is so nuanced and complex. When you finish the series, you'll find yourself looking back at every single scene and realizing there was a meaning behind it. Masterful storytelling.
Also in regards to Vander "Not being able to do it" I believe it wasn't that he didnt want to strangle Silco, but because the tendons in his arm had been sliced before from that night in the water all that time ago, he didnt have the strength to do it.
You clearly see in his face that he is not abel to do it again to silco, he is not the same person as before. If he wanted to kill him he could just throw him of the birdge
The voice actress for Powder - who was 15 at the time I believe - did this in two takes... and the director kept the first one. Unbelievable talent. This may well be the best single episode of television I've ever seen.
Nope, she was 15 when the show premiered, she was 11 when she recorded, she did it in 1 take(She had trouble sleeping, was in the middle of midterms and she imagined having a falling out with her baby brother whom she is as close to IRL as Powder starts out being to Vi in the show, added Powder`s abandonment, attachment and PTSD on top of all that) , it was in a Netflix/Riot Games/Fortiche booth during the pandemic and the Voice Directors said to the other cast " You better be at least as good as this little girl was"
Finally! You're the first reaction video I've seen that said for the topsiders, the privileged, this rock brought them the era of magic - for those below - it brought death - Like all discoveries do, those in control say it'll benefit everyone, but it usually causes more destruction. Tragic, absolute tragic.
Its brief so its easy to miss but in Episode 2 while the enforcers were chasing the kids one of the cops gets frustrated and draws his pistol. Meaning he was at least considering shooting these 10~15 year old kids who’d done nothing but run away from him. In the opening of episode 1 we also see Enforcers strolling through the aftermath of a battle and executing the remaining wounded on the bridge. While Powder and Vi watch no less. The show was actually pretty serious the whole time but it does an excellent job of fooling you into thinking its just a kids action adventure until it pulls the rug out. There are good enforcer’s like Grayson, the woman who died, and there are clearly corrupt asshole enforcers like Marcus. There’s no fully good side or bad side in this show. Of the main characters, basically Everyone’s right and everyones wrong. Even kindly old Heimer has his faults as he leads Piltover’s council, probably was in charge during the Ep 1 opening, and the rich topside of Piltover seems perfectly content exploiting the Undercity slums and the people, like these kids, who live there.
Soooo true! To all your points. And i cant believe we missed the enforcer drawing the pistol! But yes, episode 3 was wayyyy more serious than we gave the show credit for.
I’ve watched your reactions a half dozen times and damn I love the difference in reactions for you both one is emotionally and unapologetically invested with tears and expressions while the other tries to keep stern but still emits his feelings. It’s so dope
This episode is the turning point of this masterpiece of a story and my 3rd favorite episode which is not belittling this episode because 7 and 9 are incredibly amazing episodes. My suggestion if you like the Lady enforcer that got killed with the distinguished voice she is in Expanse which she standout with her political diplomatic presence but I warn you Expanse get very good in the second season the first season was hard to get through but worth it.
YES! She's amazing in The Expanse. It's true, the first season can feel a bit overwhelming with how much information is thrown at you, but I feel it does reward you with smart writing & characters.
When she said the rat came in shooting as a league player i about lost it. Great reaction you two I like how you talk about what you think is gonna happen and stuff. A lot of reactors just go oooo and ahhh
this wonderful series is in 3 acts of 3 episodes, it has steampunk, siberpunk, art deco, art nouveau and concept art features. not to mention the technical part of direction and script
Glad I found your channel guys. Loved the reaction. Subbed. 👍🏾 I agree, episode 3 is one of the best works of Art I’ve seen in a long time. Visually and storytelling
I have a very strong love/hate relationship with how right Silco is here - as misplaced as he is, he's also not wrong. Just... unethical. I swear the things they pulled off with this story really makes you just... think. "I can't wait to see what Powder's thing is... it's not fighting..." *giggles in having started with your Ep 7 lol "The rat was already a rat!" - probably my favorite line so far lol. I am thoroughly enjoying you guys's reactions - and glad to know that these scenes hit someone else exactly the way they hit me! This episode was also my attaching point. Whoever did the animations/writing really did their homework on trauma and emotions - the fact that Vi struck Powder but Powder's only concern was that she had been left. And Vi walked off to cool down, but didn't leave her - just the perfect storm. I really can't get over how well done this one series was done - it has really set the bar for TV for me in the future.
I LOVE this show, I re-watched so many times already. One of my favorite scene in this episode was the slow motion of the coin drops with Marcus, it felt so symbolic to me. It's like it showed his guilt of betraying Grayson as how Judas betrayed Jesus for coins of silver.
this is the best episode because your rooting for everyone and they all die and it tears your heart out. Also it was so incredibly well done showing the monkey about to fail and everyone being free only for powder to completly jinx it by blowing everything up
no spoilers but just to clear up a few things: @13:11 hextech isn’t exactly true magic, it’s magical items that are controlled through the use of science and/or technology (the gem with the runes and metal contraption). like the woman on the council said, you have to be born with the ability to control the arcane. hextech is a way around that. shimmer on the other hand, isn’t magic at all. no one in the underground has any. that wasn’t a random enforcer that grabbed vi, it was marcus. shimmer enhances your strength and brings the “monster” out but i think vander had done too much damage to himself to be healed by it. he was stabbed through the chest twice and then fell from a great height… also twice. i don’t think the shimmer was enough to counter all that. rip though. loved him. 💔 all of this info can be found in this episode or the previous ones btw. 💕
We’re gunna smash through a few episodes this week hopefully! There should be at least 2 arcane episodes a week on the channel :) glad youre enjoying them! Thanks for the comment ❤️
This is the best episode in my opinion, a genuine 10/10. But the rest of the show is great and these episodes were great to set everything up for the remainder. My second favourite episode is the Finale, damn it['s good.
it's one of the few shows out there where every episode is better than the last.. it just ramps up in stakes and complexity until the very end.. i do agree, in retrospect, this is at least the most important episode, if not the best.. the entire production is masterful though, choosing a 'best' is a futile endeavor when the entire thing is this amazing..
@@CarlieAndAnge happy holidays to you both! excited to see the rest. this show is bar far the best thing i've watched all year. and to speak to what you mentioned at the end, don't get discouraged by the density of story, there's a lot of content packed into this show and you're both doing great at keeping up already. subbed to see the look on your faces when Silco turns everyone into mutant rats at the end ;)
Btw this video was the reason I subbed to you guys. You actually understood that Silco took Powder in because he related his own situation with Vander. Believe it or not, Crime Lords don't randomly recruit tween girls hoping to train them into assassins. There are easier ways to get assassins than raise them for 6 years.
At the start, Vi wasn’t going to fight the enforcers, she called them to arrest her because she didn’t want Power, Vander, Milo or Clagger to get in trouble. She wanted to take responsibility so she was going to let them arrest her and when Vander saw through her, he instead sacrificed himself.
I think what Silco and his lot are working with is chemtech. It's not necessarily magic, but some sort of mutation agents. Hextech is something Jayce and Viktor created themselves, using science to harness magic through crystals of pure arcane energy. There are people (mages) who have a natural ability to control magic without any kind of equipment but they're rare.
As a surprise as the tone of this episode can be, they honestly set us up for this in the very first scene of the show. I think that first scene is very important to help us understand that the stakes are high in this world. People will die, there will be tears shed. Like you said "this looks like the opening scene" when the fire is all around. That scene has been a ticking time bomb in the back of our minds, and the fuse finally ends in this episode.
I love the fact that Vi and Powder are consistent to their characters here. It's been established all throughout the first couple episodes that Vi's natural tendency is to respond to "Fight" in "Fight or Flight." So, when her world fell apart and she had no clue how to process it, or respond? She defaulted. Which is not a good thing when dealing with family, and as soon as her brain processed what she had just done, she did what many people who have tempers that they have trained themselves to not use on their families do when things get too much. She removed herself to try and calm down so she could deal with the situation and her sister with the care necessary. Unfortunately, Marcus happened. Powder, on the other hand, is a younger sibling who idolizes her older sibling. When she feels like she can't meet the expectations she feels like her sister set, expectations that generally no one else holds her to, she literally has a full-blown panic/manic outburst. When Vi explodes at her, she's still upset that Vi left her, not at Vi's reaction. And when she felt betrayed and abandoned, she was in such desperate need of affection from anyone that she latched onto Silco. I'm sure a trained psychiatrist or psychologist would be better able to analyze the behavior, but even without it, you can always feel the difference between when a behavior pattern has been established for a character, and when it comes out of left field.
So glad you're enjoying Arcane. It's an amazing series! I would love to recommend another good show on Netflix. The Last Kingdom. Y'all would like it I think :)

I love how she said "Oh yhea the rat, who is shooting people left and right" xD Immediately my mind went to THAT champ. It's amazing to see the perspective on the show from someone who doesn't know anything about the games.
Jinx in the games: "Who`s this crazy blue-haired, pink-eyed Harley Quinn-looking chick?" Jinx in the show:" My poor baby Powder, please let me protect you!"

YES! She's amazing in The Expanse. It's true, the first season can feel a bit overwhelming with how much information is thrown at you, but I feel it does reward you with smart writing & characters.
I wheezed so hard when you say powder might give them hope
🤣😭
this episode always shatters and yet lights such a flame of hype
When she said the rat came in shooting as a league player i about lost it. Great reaction you two I like how you talk about what you think is gonna happen and stuff. A lot of reactors just go oooo and ahhh
i was hiding
Haha😅 thank you! We’re definitely enjoying this show. We’re glad you enjoyed our reaction 😁
this wonderful series is in 3 acts of 3 episodes, it has steampunk, siberpunk, art deco, art nouveau and concept art features. not to mention the technical part of direction and script
An all round incredible show 👌🏼
Very good reaction guys! Keep this out throughout the series!
Thanks so much! The show makes it easy because its soooo good. Glad you enjoyed the video ❤️
Glad I found your channel guys. Loved the reaction. Subbed. 👍🏾
I agree, episode 3 is one of the best works of Art I’ve seen in a long time. Visually and storytelling
Thanks Chad! Glad you enjoyed the video. Yeah, this episode was just brilliant!
This is the only episode of anything I can not watch without crying. Everytime in the Powder & Vi scene in the end.
It’s just too real, isn’t it 💔
@@CarlieAndAnge Definitely. And it works so organically from the buildup. Nothing feels forced. Just pure tragedy unfolding.
@@morantNO1 yea 100%! The writers are just next level
I have a very strong love/hate relationship with how right Silco is here - as misplaced as he is, he's also not wrong. Just... unethical. I swear the things they pulled off with this story really makes you just... think.
"I can't wait to see what Powder's thing is... it's not fighting..." *giggles in having started with your Ep 7 lol
"The rat was already a rat!" - probably my favorite line so far lol.
You guys are amazing, funny and genuine. Lovely reactors, i really felt like i was watching it with friends in the same couch. Kudos!
Aww thats great! Thank you so much ❤️😊
“the rat was already a rat!” she’s so tired of you sir lmaoooo
The zoom on Carlie at 10:42 was everything I needed 🤣
Haha glad you liked it! ❤️
I LOVE this show, I re-watched so many times already. One of my favorite scene in this episode was the slow motion of the coin drops with Marcus, it felt so symbolic to me. It's like it showed his guilt of betraying Grayson as how Judas betrayed Jesus for coins of silver.
Synchronized crying from Carlie at 16:20. Very impressive! I think we all felt the same way. Great reaction, guys!
First reactor I hear that Silco could empathize with Powder bc he saw himself in her, because of Vander !
this episode actually hit me way harder on my rewatch
i didnt feel much on my first watch but genuinely cried on my rewatch
I'm really liking your Arcane reactions, guys! New subscriber here. ^^
Thank you so much! Welcome to the channel 😅
this is the best episode because your rooting for everyone and they all die and it tears your heart out.
Also it was so incredibly well done showing the monkey about to fail and everyone being free only for powder to completly jinx it by blowing everything up
no spoilers but just to clear up a few things:
@13:11 hextech isn’t exactly true magic, it’s magical items that are controlled through the use of science and/or technology (the gem with the runes and metal contraption). like the woman on the council said, you have to be born with the ability to control the arcane. hextech is a way around that. shimmer on the other hand, isn’t magic at all. no one in the underground has any.
that wasn’t a random enforcer that grabbed vi, it was marcus.
shimmer enhances your strength and brings the “monster” out but i think vander had done too much damage to himself to be healed by it. he was stabbed through the chest twice and then fell from a great height… also twice. i don’t think the shimmer was enough to counter all that. rip though. loved him. 💔
all of this info can be found in this episode or the previous ones btw. 💕
Thank you so much, Chance! We were a bit in the dark about the hextech and shimmer. This has really cleared a lot up for us ❤️
I am having a Kylo Ren moment when its coming to your Arcane reactions:
„MOOOREEEEE! MOOOOREEEEE!!“
😍cant wait!
it's one of the few shows out there where every episode is better than the last.. it just ramps up in stakes and complexity until the very end.. i do agree, in retrospect, this is at least the most important episode, if not the best.. the entire production is masterful though, choosing a 'best' is a futile endeavor when the entire thing is this amazing..
I Loved seeing you two get led down the garden path with Powder's Intervention.
🤣🤣
Now there is no turning back. Great reaction.
Thank you! Cant wait for the rest of the series. We’ll be uploading a few episodes a week :)
@@razzledazzle1 thank you Ross! Happy holidays to you too 😊 HAHAHA!!! Oh nooooo, not the mutant rats 😂
“I need you”
Everytime this break ma heart.
Please never abandon anyone, everybody need somebody.
Yeah thats so heartbreaking
I cry on every reaction i watch 😅😂
Its very sad!
One of the few channels that properly talks about the episode after watching it, love the after vid commentary
Thanks Jonathan! Glad you enjoyed the video 😊
No matter how many times i watch this episode, it will always be utterly heartbreaking.
"yeah it's gonna be explosive"- I mean you weren't wrong 😂
Haha dammit 😆
Watching the scene where Powder's bomb worked, I was like "YAY! It worked!"
And then...
"Oh fuck, it worked..."
Mhhhhm 😩
yes this was actually the finale of the hardcore mini-season 1, now the more tragic season 2 begins
More tragic?!
The song at the end is probably my favorite one in the series.
Surprised I didn't cry during this episode, I think I was just so shocked about the amount of tragedy that happened that I just couldn't cry
I totally get that, there was so much going on!
I laughed at "I cant wait to see what powders thing is, I know its not fighting" XD
🤣
Btw this video was the reason I subbed to you guys. You actually understood that Silco took Powder in because he related his own situation with Vander. Believe it or not, Crime Lords don't randomly recruit tween girls hoping to train them into assassins. There are easier ways to get assassins than raise them for 6 years.
Hmm yes true. Thanks for subbing! Glad to have you here :)
"Yeahhhh... It's gonna be Explosive!"
-Famous last words
😂
Angelo: this show got serious really quick
Also Angelo: is that the Australian?
"cant wait to see what powder thing is"
"yeeah it's gonna be explosive"
:^)
😂
'Its gonna be a really bad family discussion'
And it really was 😂
At the start, Vi wasn’t going to fight the enforcers, she called them to arrest her because she didn’t want Power, Vander, Milo or Clagger to get in trouble. She wanted to take responsibility so she was going to let them arrest her and when Vander saw through her, he instead sacrificed himself.
Episode 3 is really just a masterpiece in its own right
100% agree
"She's coming, they might have hope now."
Welp... 😅😂
HAHAHA, boy was I wrong 😂
PS: Ekko was one of my favorites in game. His mechanics are really cool, but not yet explored in the series so I won't spoil.
8:00
"OOOH, I can't wait to see what Powders thing is..."
ME: 😬 "Fratricide?"
"I'm fully immersed now."
I want that on a shirt so bad.
😅 such an amazing episode!
@@CarlieAndAnge Yall may have seen it already and just not uploaded yet but EP7 is my favorite.
@@corporealghoul its coming out very very soon 😁
@@CarlieAndAnge You weren't lying!
"THE RAT WAS ALREADY A RAT"
"Was that the Australian ?" 😂😂
I just love you guys. Welcome to the Playground.
Aww thanks! ❤️
"It's gonna be a a bad family discussion" 😩😂😂
Mhhhhm 😭
"they're gonna turn Vandar into a massive beast" cit
I think what Silco and his lot are working with is chemtech. It's not necessarily magic, but some sort of mutation agents. Hextech is something Jayce and Viktor created themselves, using science to harness magic through crystals of pure arcane energy. There are people (mages) who have a natural ability to control magic without any kind of equipment but they're rare.
Ahhhh okay, thanks for the insight!
Yea exactly! Very reminiscent of that opening scene.
"JINX!! ALL YOUR FAULT!! ALL YOUR FAULT!!" - Fiddlesticks
Very well said!
the Rat comments got me dead lmaooo - awesome reaction
😅thank you!
They guy's reaction to Vander being stabbed was awesome. He was like I can't with this bs
😅
So glad you're enjoying Arcane. It's an amazing series!
I would love to recommend another good show on Netflix. The Last Kingdom.
Y'all would like it I think :)
We’ve had a few suggestions for this show. We’ll look into it because we might need a new show eventually! Thanks so much for the comment. And yes, Arcane is sooooo good 😍
I love how she said "Oh yhea the rat, who is shooting people left and right" xD Immediately my mind went to THAT champ. It's amazing to see the perspective on the show from someone who doesn't know anything about the games.
Haha yeah! We’re keen to learn more about the lore
Jinx in the games: "Who`s this crazy blue-haired, pink-eyed Harley Quinn-looking chick?"
Jinx in the show:" My poor baby Powder, please let me protect you!"
Duality is a key ingredient for Tragedy.
WOW! Powder gonna SAVE everyone! HURAY!!!!
😬
the first time i watched this episode i didn't cry at all, because i was in denial. I thought there was no way they could really all be dead, something else was going to happen to save them all. But upon rewatch, after knowing how things unfold for the rest of the season and how pivotal these moments really were, I was crying harder than ever before watching a tv show.
This episode was very very emotional 😭
"powder's gonna come through.."
:'-(
😭
Realize that the person who voiced Powder was 10 or 11 when she voice acted this.... Loving your channel btw!
She was amazing….
And thanks so much! Hopefully you enjoy the videos 😊
@@CarlieAndAnge Yeah i truly am. I'm watching all the arcane vids. BTW I left a massive lore dump on your latest video earlier today ;)

@5:48. Carlie is the Attack Titan confirmed.
I said it, I warned you, it was intense!

Thanks Khristian! Glad to have you on board ❤️
"have you had enough yet?"

“It’s going to be a really bad family discussion”
