I love the attention they give Jinx’s character in this show, writers typically don’t really focus on the “crazy” characters but there’s really so much potential and Arcane absolutely delivered. She’s definitely my favorite of the show
I absolutely love it so much, too. She is incredibly well written. I also love the broken violin that accompanies her each time she has an episode or outburst. It really adds to her character

Marcus took Vi to jail at the end of ep 3 because Piltover needed someone to take the blame for the robbery in the first chapter, so yeah, she's been in prison all this time :(
Marcus took Vi to prison using his position to "hide" her, in a fleeting moment of guilt (seen in ep 3). No charges or process, just to make her dissapear without having to actually see her killed. Hence why nobody knows who she is or why she is there, and there is no actual documentation (as stated at the end of ep 4). Because of this, the guards treat her horribly knowing she is basically there for life (implied in that she has no charges and no sentence, therefore no release date). No one but Marcus knows what happenned to Vi.
Powder obviously had serious issues just under the surface even as a child; the trauma at the end of Ep 3 just blew it all open and dumped a never-ending shower of gasoline on those issues. Silco's years of reinforcing and rewarding her violent urges probably didn't help, even if it did let her rebuild herself into 'Jinx' instead of utterly self-destructing early on.
Sometimes we need to think, how far in life would Powder have gone if she was born in Piltover instead? She seemed to be very knowledgeable in gadgetry/tinkering even as a child.

Its supposed to be about 7-8 years later Jinx is about 17 now, Jayce is about 31/32(in episode 2 he mentions hes 24), Vi is about 22, and Caitlyn is about 21. I remember reading that Vi and Caitlyn are both about 21/22 but i also read Vi is about a year older than her so who knows. Viktors age is never mentioned though he is probably about the same age as Jayce same with Mel i think its been confirmed she is about 1 or 2 years older than Jayce

Ey let’s go. Writers confirmed powder was 11-12 for episode 3 and they’ve jumped 6-ish years for episode 4. The hexgates are used to teleport ships around the continent (the spell that saved jayce and his moms life from the blizzard) making Piltover the fastest port of transportation on the map. Also the “Get Jinxed” music video was the first thing Fortiche animated for Riot. They’ve been working together ever since and Fortiche is the studio that animated arcane. Lastly, Jinx is for sure struggling with ptsd and probably even schizophrenia. The writers do a great job of keeping her mental illness present in the story and her character without making it her core character trait. She does horrible things but they never use the “she’s crazy” excuse for her actions, you can always see her motivations.

Ohh Powder was 11 or 12? I thought she was 7 since Vi said in ep. 5 about Caitlyn parkouring, Vi said "My little sister could do that when she was 7" which it kinda did look like it was Powder's first time jumping from 1 building to another in ep. 1

Silco is what you'd call 'unconventionally attractive'. He has many features that would be considered unattractive by themselves but in combination, he somehow makes it work.

Maybe you don't really care but just for you to know. In the game they work like this: Caitlyn is a sniper. The champion with most range in the game. She also place traps with a cupcake on the middle, that's why on episode one when Vi, Powder and friends are jumping on the roofs, there are cupcakes on the balcony. Jayce uses a hammer. Like he said this episode, his family used to fabricate hammers, so in the game he got one empowered with a hextech gemstone. Viktor is like a mage. He mainly uses the thing that Jayce got on his back in ur minut 8:12. The laser thing. (He is my favourite champion) Jinx has so many weapons. A rocket launcher, the machine gun she used of the fight. A mini laser gun and also she place traps with she fish or monkey shape we always see. Vi is a very strong fighter. She uses her fists and (won't say because would be a spoiler haha) Heimerdinger is a mage too, he uses mini towers. I can't say what Ekko does in game because... spoiler. The rat the create with the purple liquid on chapter 1 is a champion in the game too, called Twitch, but doesn't appear anymore on the show. The scientific that help Silco is called Singed and he attack spreading the purple liquid. Silco is not in the game yet, but seems he is going to be because he became so popular on the show. Mel isn't in the game. And Vander... well, I'll tell you after you finish the show. I hope you find this interesting :D
Even though I see silco as more of a father figure so I'm not simping as hard for him, the WOMEN of this show have a choke hold on me😭especially vi and Caitlyn, they're so hot...respectfully Again amazing reaction, a lot of people thought that vi was the girl with the fire lights at first so you guys shouldnt get roasted, personally I dont think it's that hard to see the difference between the two, plus the girl was too scrawny💀BUT I've seen this show multiple times so I cant complain about first time viewers. It is ACTUALLY Vi's face at one point, because we're seeing who Jinx is seeing at first. So understandable that you'd think that. But they do try and make you realize it wasnt her later, when she talks to Silco, she says its just a girl with pink hair. And when she's alone in her lair she states a couple times it was just some random "riff-raff" And if you didnt get it by then, you'll see Vi at the end of the episode and put it all together lol. So at least they dont allow the confusion to settle for too long.

Marcus threw her in prison and threw away the key to silence her about what happened. He also knows that silco would kill her if he knew she was alive. And according to hymerdingers comments it's been around a decade

5:23 Honestly it's my only critic of the shows animation and design that literally everyone who I've shown this show to, including me, has thought that the girl with pink hair was Vi. It's not just the hair she looks A Lot like young Vi. It's unfortunately very unintentionally confusing. So you're not alone!
It was very confusing but watching it a second time there were other tells that it wasnt Vi. But i think it being a time skip and us having no idea what the characters were gunna act and look like didnt help our cause either haha 😂glad we werent alone!
Well, to be fair you are *meant* to think it’s Vi, because Powder/Jinx thinks it’s Vi in the fight on the blimp. So, getting confused isn’t really a big deal.
12:28 Viktor probably doesn't have is face shown for the very same reason that in almost every reaction I've seen so far, almost everyone say they don't trust him and hat he'll probably betray Jayce at some point.
As far as Viktor goes, I'm fairly certain he's not in the limelight by his own choice. I think him declining to go on stage with Jayce is a good indicator of that. His passion is inventing and science, and as long as he can do that he doesn't care about the accolades. I also wouldn't be surprised if he's a bit ashamed to be seen. He's always looked rather frail, and he has had that bum leg for a long time. Could be very self-conscious about that. Plus he's clearly looking worse for the wear as of this episode. He's definitely happy to let Jayce be the face of the whole thing. Like how Fran Walsh was just as important to the directing/writing of the Lord of the Rings films as Peter Jackson, yet she requested he be the face of the series because she was too shy and didn't want all that attention.
What I've heard from game lore is that Vi wasn't short for 'Violet' (before this show). In game lore VI has no memory of her past, and she's called VI only because of the tattoo on her cheek.

Sadly, all of Powders pre-existing childhood disorders, combined with the events at the end of episode 3, have actually driven her literally insane. She's now schizophrenic, and has little to no capacity to differentiate reality from her own imagination. She's one of the few characters in all of fiction to properly portrayed as actually insane. . She's way beyond Joker or Harley. They wouldn't last a minute against Jinx.
sorry to nitpick, but "insane" is such a huge oversimplification of jinx's mental health issues. although she experiences delusions and hallucinations, it's a clear example of borderline personality disorder. this is just anecdotal, but from my experiences being around people with untreated schizophrenia or BPD, jinx actually comes across as pretty damn aware of her delusions comparatively. i know "well actually" comments are annoying but i'm just trying to say that the writers and animators really went all out here.
@@christianp5993 I always read her as BPD with severe attachment issues. She goes from pure adoration to major rage against those that she cares about. Maybe some PTSD too. It can cause delusions and hallucinations as well. It’s so refreshing to see a genuinely mentally ill character in an animated series. Not treated as cute or quirky but as genuinely mentally ill to the point of their detriment.

The hexgates are faster transport its kinda like the invention of steam boats or airships or planes it revolutionized travel and trade and made it cheaper to do, as well as giving piltover a monopoly on hextech
Don’t worry I though it was Vi at first too. But soon after I did realize that one: from a storytelling perspective that reunion doesn’t really make sense, and two no way Vi would be both bigger and stronger enough then her to hold her like that.
I was also confused by the pink-haired girl on the airship, it took me one more episode to search the web and realize it was not Vi. IMO the creators made her look too similar to Vi
When her mask first comes off they literally use Vi's teenage face. This represents Jinx's point of view because the similarity causes ptsd flashbacks. In the next shot where you see her face you can see that she only really resembles Vi in that she has shortish pink hair. They made sure to explain it later in the episode. "One of those firelight wackos was a girl with pink hair" "I got confused, that's all" I don't think they made her "too" similar to Vi as if there wasn't a resemblance to begin with, Jinx's reaction wouldn't have made sense.
I love the fact that when Jinx is revealed she’s almost cat like. Big theory going around that she matches the personality or changes it depending on the person she’s with. That’s why she comes out the smoke so inquisitively and almost catlike

"You think Jayce will be a fighter, or Viktor?" - Don't... go looking up the Champions list for League of Legends 😂 Now I can say it - Caitlyn was my altime favorite champ, right beside Jinx. I alternated between the two. I loved Vi too, but she was mele in the game, and I am a horrible mele player in ANY game lol. Caitlyn in-game is very down to earth, no nonsense, serious - but deadly. (okay they all are that last one but pfff) I think Silco's attraction is that... jawline. Just sayin. Game fact for this episode (Arcane is NOT cannon to the game's lore, so I can say this lol): Caitlyn Vi and Jinx share no connection besides... "jobs". Caitlyn is Piltover's leading detective/enforcer. Vi works with her but takes a more Vigilante approach, keeping Caitlyn on her toes and chasing her down, and Jinx is their "arch nemsis", ever elusive to both. The trio have in-game lines that only appear as they are on the same team or opposing teams respectively where they taunt/jeer/tease eachother. It's one of my favorite dynamics in game and very remeniscent of Batman/Gordon/Joker. But they have no other relation in game (no shared family or backstories, just rivalry)

Maybe you don't really care but just for you to know. In the game they work like this:
Caitlyn is a sniper. The champion with most range in the game. She also place traps with a cupcake on the middle, that's why on episode one when Vi, Powder and friends are jumping on the roofs, there are cupcakes on the balcony.
Jayce uses a hammer. Like he said this episode, his family used to fabricate hammers, so in the game he got one empowered with a hextech gemstone.
Viktor is like a mage. He mainly uses the thing that Jayce got on his back in ur minut 8:12. The laser thing. (He is my favourite champion)
Jinx has so many weapons. A rocket launcher, the machine gun she used of the fight. A mini laser gun and also she place traps with she fish or monkey shape we always see.
Vi is a very strong fighter. She uses her fists and (won't say because would be a spoiler haha)
Heimerdinger is a mage too, he uses mini towers.
I can't say what Ekko does in game because... spoiler.
The rat the create with the purple liquid on chapter 1 is a champion in the game too, called Twitch, but doesn't appear anymore on the show.
The scientific that help Silco is called Singed and he attack spreading the purple liquid.
Silco is not in the game yet, but seems he is going to be because he became so popular on the show.
Mel isn't in the game.
And Vander... well, I'll tell you after you finish the show.

Again amazing reaction, a lot of people thought that vi was the girl with the fire lights at first so you guys shouldnt get roasted, personally I dont think it's that hard to see the difference between the two, plus the girl was too scrawny💀BUT I've seen this show multiple times so I cant complain about first time viewers.

In regards to mistaking the girl with the pink, i think it was the fact that there was a significant time jump. So we didnt know what to expect at all in terms of what they’d look like etc.

It is ACTUALLY Vi's face at one point, because we're seeing who Jinx is seeing at first. So understandable that you'd think that. But they do try and make you realize it wasnt her later, when she talks to Silco, she says its just a girl with pink hair. And when she's alone in her lair she states a couple times it was just some random "riff-raff" And if you didnt get it by then, you'll see Vi at the end of the episode and put it all together lol. So at least they dont allow the confusion to settle for too long.

@LockeKappa…. I agree with you. I’ve seen some reactors look at the whole episode thinking it was Vi, when Jinx clearly states that it was a girl, that looked like her. It makes me think people aren’t paying attention to the dialogue much.
Think she also was smaller than Jinx and Jinx is quite short and skinny but it's easy to miss in the heat of the moment :)
At the end of the episode Jinx is listening to "Get Jinxed" (sung by Jinx) also being a character theme-song for Jinx. You should see the video-clip for it =]

Silco changing the original deal with him really put Marcus under his thumb. Marcus likely told him she was dead.

No, Mia Sinclair Jenness voices Young Powder/Jinx in the first 3 episodes, Ella Purnell voices her in the rest of the series outside of flashbacks. In the games, Powder/X/Jinx/The Loose Cannon of Zaun is voiced by Sarah Anne Williams in a mix of a raspy Gollum-style voice and an evil, crazy, thrill-seeking valleygirl who likes to talk to her guns and toy animals and throws her voice to pretend they are talking back which is likely a symptom of her childhood schizophrenia and PTSD as we see here.
Silco is this ruggish devil of attraction, plus instant father figure energy ;P

No. Mia Sinclair Jenness voices Powder/Young Jinx in Act 1 and flashbacks later in the show. Ella Purnell voices Jinx as a teenaged anarchist/mafia daughter to Silco in the present day. In the games, Sarah Anne Williams voices Jinx who has a much more boisterous, unapologetically crazy, apathetic and chaotic persona, almost always cackling maniacally and speaking with a raspy, tomboyish valley girl accent complete with stereotypical vernacular such as "like", " loser", and "borrrriiinggg" randomly alternating between screaming and creepy whispers at the drop of a hat, enjoys cosplay, she also talks to her guns and toy animals and does voices for them,
although there are hints in some voicelines deep down she`s still the sweet, sad little Powder we know and love from Act 1 of "Arcane" not that she`d ever admit it. There are, however, unlockable skins for "Arcane" Jinx complete with Ella Purnell`s voice.
I think Viktor always had that walking stick, I recall seeing him using that on the early episodes.

5:23 Honestly it's my only critic of the shows animation and design that literally everyone who I've shown this show to, including me, has thought that the girl with pink hair was Vi. It's not just the hair she looks A Lot like young Vi. It's unfortunately very unintentionally confusing. So you're not alone!
It was very confusing but watching it a second time there were other tells that it wasnt Vi. But i think it being a time skip and us having no idea what the characters were gunna act and look like didnt help our cause either haha 😂glad we werent alone!

As far as Viktor goes, I'm fairly certain he's not in the limelight by his own choice. I think him declining to go on stage with Jayce is a good indicator of that. His passion is inventing and science, and as long as he can do that he doesn't care about the accolades. I also wouldn't be surprised if he's a bit ashamed to be seen. He's always looked rather frail, and he has had that bum leg for a long time. Could be very self-conscious about that. Plus he's clearly looking worse for the wear as of this episode. He's definitely happy to let Jayce be the face of the whole thing. Like how Fran Walsh was just as important to the directing/writing of the Lord of the Rings films as Peter Jackson, yet she requested he be the face of the series because she was too shy and didn't want all that attention.

What I've heard from game lore is that Vi wasn't short for 'Violet' (before this show). In game lore VI has no memory of her past, and she's called VI only because of the tattoo on her cheek.

Sadly, all of Powders pre-existing childhood disorders, combined with the events at the end of episode 3, have actually driven her literally insane. She's now schizophrenic, and has little to no capacity to differentiate reality from her own imagination. She's one of the few characters in all of fiction to properly portrayed as actually insane.

sorry to nitpick, but "insane" is such a huge oversimplification of jinx's mental health issues. although she experiences delusions and hallucinations, it's a clear example of borderline personality disorder. this is just anecdotal, but from my experiences being around people with untreated schizophrenia or BPD, jinx actually comes across as pretty damn aware of her delusions comparatively. i know "well actually" comments are annoying but i'm just trying to say that the writers and animators really went all out here.
@@christianp5993 I always read her as BPD with severe attachment issues. She goes from pure adoration to major rage against those that she cares about. Maybe some PTSD too. It can cause delusions and hallucinations as well. It’s so refreshing to see a genuinely mentally ill character in an animated series. Not treated as cute or quirky but as genuinely mentally ill to the point of their detriment.

The hexgates are faster transport its kinda like the invention of steam boats or airships or planes it revolutionized travel and trade and made it cheaper to do, as well as giving piltover a monopoly on hextech
Don’t worry I though it was Vi at first too. But soon after I did realize that one: from a storytelling perspective that reunion doesn’t really make sense, and two no way Vi would be both bigger and stronger enough then her to hold her like that.

When her mask first comes off they literally use Vi's teenage face. This represents Jinx's point of view because the similarity causes ptsd flashbacks. In the next shot where you see her face you can see that she only really resembles Vi in that she has shortish pink hair. They made sure to explain it later in the episode. "One of those firelight wackos was a girl with pink hair" "I got confused, that's all"
I don't think they made her "too" similar to Vi as if there wasn't a resemblance to begin with, Jinx's reaction wouldn't have made sense.

Now I can say it - Caitlyn was my altime favorite champ, right beside Jinx. I alternated between the two. I loved Vi too, but she was mele in the game, and I am a horrible mele player in ANY game lol. Caitlyn in-game is very down to earth, no nonsense, serious - but deadly. (okay they all are that last one but pfff)
I think Silco's attraction is that... jawline. Just sayin.
Game fact for this episode (Arcane is NOT cannon to the game's lore, so I can say this lol): Caitlyn Vi and Jinx share no connection besides... "jobs". Caitlyn is Piltover's leading detective/enforcer. Vi works with her but takes a more Vigilante approach, keeping Caitlyn on her toes and chasing her down, and Jinx is their "arch nemsis", ever elusive to both. The trio have in-game lines that only appear as they are on the same team or opposing teams respectively where they taunt/jeer/tease eachother. It's one of my favorite dynamics in game and very remeniscent of Batman/Gordon/Joker. But they have no other relation in game (no shared family or backstories, just rivalry)

As far as why Jayce is the face of Hextech, who do you think these people would rather have as their face of progress? Their topside golden boy?
