Collard Valley Cooks recipe book?
@@CollardValleyCooks Wow that looks delicious! I totally want to make this! Yummy. But can you tell me what the difference is between a fryer and a roaster? I dont think they have an option at our stores here in California? BTW I must have watched at least 40 of your videos this week, while I sit at my desk at work. I love them all! I have saved so many of your recipes!! Thanks for all the time, work and effort you put into them!
@@Mrs.VonChin a roasting chicken is a hen and will be whole. You can't fry it becaause it will be tough.
@@CollardValleyCooks Wow! Thanks for the reply! I wasnt sure you would see it, since this is an older video! I absolutely will be making this. I love dressing, and having it like this, with the bird right in it- GENIUS Cant wait to eat it. And I just bought a copy of volume one of the book! 😁 Thanks to you both for all the time and work you always put into these videos. You have some amazing recipes!
To those not familiar with Dressing, it's NOT suppose to look like stuffing with bread cubes. It's more of a creamy texture. When people review and say its mushy and compare it to stuffing, two different styles and textures.
True Alan!
Amen to that
Preach
Add cranberry sauce and I could eat it every day.
This is the way we made it then and now GREAT
I have to admit that I admire all the hard work you put into making these videos and you’re very specific and you add lots of detail.
That looks so good making me hungry eaves Corinth ms
That’s the way my mom cooked dressing growing up in Alabama. Good memories of Thanksgiving; miss her so much!
Yes it's dressing, my husband is from the north and he calls it stuffing and I told him
" honey your in the south now please adjust your vocabulary"😃
Great recipe 👍😊
Straighten him up lol!
I’ve always heard that it’s “dressing” when it goes into a casserole dish in he oven;
When it goes into the bird, then it’s “stuffing”.
Also in the north some of the people make the "stuffing" with only white bread. ugh
@@loissouthard5619 Absolutely not true.
@@Mr.56Goldtop what do you mean "not true"? do some of the people in the north use cornbread. I did not say ALL of people in north use white bread. Of course I did say "ugh". Is that why you say not true.
My mama used to make chicken and dressing this way, we loved it! Thanks for sharing your recipe, too.
My family is from southern Ohio, and my grandmother cooked all the time from scratch! And your videos remind me of the home cooked meals we enjoyed as a family. Thank you💜😀
Day lawwwww!!! I am hearing the approval of my grandma as you make this. It's been 16 years since she passed at 98, but she would make this all the time. Thank you for sharing this.
I made this dressing for Christmas dinner and it was wonderful! Thank you for sharing your recipes.
I like dense dressin. That’s how my mama made it, but yours looks good too!
me too! i like to cut my dressing with a knife!
Ok Tammy I watched this dressing video 4 times I finally got my courage up to put milk in my dressing I seasoned mine like you said added the loaf bread and the raw eggs and I baked it like you said and wow is it good Thank You Tammy Its the best I've ever made !!!!!!!
Great job!
I did love this recipe. At 80 years old, I don't do a lot of cookin' like I use to. Always used half bread and half cornbread, some of the ingredients are new to me, but I sure am going to try your recipe. Will have to cook in stages, cornbread one day and chicken the next. Yep, as slow as I am these days, it will take me a couple of days to get everything together. LOL
Hope you enjoy
I know Ester. I’m 80 and I’m in slow motion too.
my mom passed away so I was trying to find someone who made chicken n dressin like she did & this was spot on ❤ thank you!
Oh my goodness, this is the best dressing I have ever seen made! Definitely going to make this for dinner soon! Also for Thanksgiving! But first I am ordering your two cook books! Love ya girl, you are precious.
I had to let you know that I love this dish! Since there is only one of me, I always take the leftovers and make single serving slices. Then I use my vacuum seal bags and machine to make single serve serving packages to put in my freezer. Well, I thawed and heated one for breakfast this morning and it was still so moist, flavorful, and delicious!! Because I make them in single serve packages, it only takes a few minutes to thaw, reheat and ready to eat. It freezes great!!!! Thank you so much for this recipe! Now I am going to try your Salisbury steak recipe for freezing also! Thank you!!!
Good idea!
Thank you so much for this comment. I cook for 1 quite often and I'm trying to learn how to freeze some of my single servings.
Did you freeze it solid before vacuum packing it? I was wondering if the vacuum part would smoosh it if you sealed before it was solid. Thank you in advance for anymore tips you can offer. 👍😊
@@dixiedoo5876 I am also alone and that is why I freeze a lot of my meals, I just can't seem to learn to cook for one person. I put the dish of dressing in the refrigerator to get cold, and to make sure the liquids would get more solid. Then I removed it, sliced individual servings, put them in the vacuum bags, then vacuum sealed them and put them in the freezer. I also freeze my soups, stews, roast beef, ham, etc. I also bake chicken parts (I used thighs and legs) and freeze them. Then if I want chicken and dumplings, I just thaw out a package in the microwave, sautee my onions and celery, add the chicken and broth or water. When the chicken is falling off the bone, I make my dumplings. I also use them for chicken enchiladas, chicken tacos, chicken stir fry, etc.
I'm totally trying this for Thanksgiving this year! Yum!
My husband was talking about Thanksgiving today. I’ve never put in milk in dressing but I’m going to give it a try. Thanks for posting!
I made this recipe for my family for Christmas day. Tammy... this was hands down the best corn bread dressing that I've ever tasted! My family LOVED it, and this will be my new go to dressing recipe!! Thanks so much for sharing.
So glad to hear that Jan!
that looks so good. the first time I tried my cousins dressing in Kentucky.. I tried to eat it all. very good
I love cold dressing.
Always use day old cornbread or at least cook it early morning. Never use fresh cornbread. It needs to be dried and a good variety of breads makes it even better. That is why my grandma always froze leftover biscuits, cornbread and slice bread.
Stephanie, my mom did that too and I agree a mixture of breads makes the best dressing! TFS, God bless & Happy Holidays 2022
The one thing my Granny always said was when you think you have enough broth in there add another cup (coffe cup she didnt measure lol) you can always cook the liquid out but cant add more
Exactly, she was right!
Looks so good and I am going to try this recipe for Thanksgiving Thanks and God Bless You and your family!
My mom always made dressing with cornbread. My husband was born raised in Kentucky . But raised on bread stuffing. I don't care for it. My daughter begs for cornbread even at 40 years old. Haha ! Just not Thanksgiving with out it ! God bless the cooks !
There's a lot of fake stuff in the world but I have say...Tammy you are the real deal. These are the best vids on you tube!! Im watching & liking as I go. Im new to your channel so happy I found it. Im gonna try this one on Thanksgiving ty!
Welcome to CVC!
Good morning how are you doing today that's the only dressing my family eat is dressing made with chicken they always say it is the best dressing your dressing look so delicious I know it is good that's a real nice supper have a bless day 😇🤗😇
Thank you
Your dish of food looks sooooooo good. Love this recipe in a big way.
I'm 53 and this is the closest to how my mother use to make hers that I've seen. My mom also made it with pre-cooked and crumbled up livermush instead of the cooked chicken. If you haven't tried it with livermush you should. It's DELICIOUS! 😋
Just like my mothers but she added a little chopped garlic. ❣️👍🏻. No sage either. Just poultry seasoning and very little. Put chicken whole pieces on top when baking! The best I’ve ever had.
This chick 🐥 and dressing is going to be my Christmas meal this year in 2021....no turkey this time....🤗🎄
I always beat the egg a bit before I put it in.
I just love your vibe! My grandmothers and great aunts made something similar but this is a good basic recipe for anybody who really wants to make chicken and dressing. You are such a good spirit about what you like lol! you need your own cooking show on the Food Network
Making this for Thanksgiving 2020!! Thank you for sharing your awesome skills with us. Just like home!!
I tried boiling eggs your way and it was so easy to peel them, thank you!
This looks delicious. My grandmother made her's like this. She showed me how. My family loves it. I love your videos
Looks so yummy. Thanks for sharing I just love how you cook.
I made this for all my family, they loved it.
Wonderful!
Man, that looks great. I like to add cubed, peeled apples to the dressing. They add great moisture and a hint of sweetness! What a beautiful gravy boat. Thanks for your videos.
My mama added a little apple to her dressing...so I do too!
Love the apple idea. Must do!!! 🍎 Thanks!!!
@@dianeharris2358 My mama only added maybe 1/2 of an apple.
@@susiem5084
Thank you. Very good to know. I would have gone overboard 🤪
@Diana Harris, I use one medium apple in an large pan of dressing. I guess you just have to find the amount you like :)
Tam! May The Lord bless you and your household continually in Jesus Name. Amen
Yes man..... it’s dressing!! Lol. I will be trying this for sure
I have a question? I only have O’rwheat bread-12 grain to use and can i use 4 slices of that; also, I have frozen biscuits I can bake. Will those be alright-I want some good tasting fluffy dressing so bad. Never have made good dressing and yours look like my mom’s and she used the canned soup too. (I am homebound and in my late 70’s so hope you or someone will answer me). I so enjoy watching and listening to you and how you and your family cooked. Sounds like my family. Happy Thanksgiving-it will just be me and looking forward to some delicious leftovers!! Yum
Yes they will work
Thank you very much.
Just found your channel today ! I can't wait to make this. My granny made dressing like this. Yum.
Welcome to CVC Stacey!
I think you are the only person I’ve ever seen, who makes their dressing moist enough, by adding liquid flavor! I make mine moist like yours. I plan to make your recipe! Thanks
Made a half recipe today. Took forever to bake, but is really good. The half recipe would serve 6-8.
Yep you got to be patient but it is worth it!
I do love to watch how others do their holiday meals.
A must in my family is served with cranberry sauce!
Yummy😋 I agree with you... nothing worse than dry as a bone dressing!!! Lol Your chicken & dressing & deviled eggs look delicious!!! I can tell that you put your heart into your cooking and you love it!!! Cooking genuine southern cuisine ain't no easy task, you work hard and keep doing a great job!!! I saw the video of where you grew up and it's so beautiful!!! Family, Love and Traditions are very important and I'll bet you are taking on the role of keeping the love, laughter and guidance going southern strong!!! HI-5🖐️ and much love to you and your family!!! God Bless y'all!!!🙏💖💐🏵️🌸🌺🌻🌷🍀🍁🍀💖
Tammy thanks for sharing this cornbread dressing recipe 😋I make mine pretty much the same as yours, with exception of milk and soup. Momma made hers with raw eggs and boiled eggs too. I think I'm trying your way next time l.make dressing but lm gonna place whole legs and thighs on top of the dressing. I know I will need to adjust time and temp, but l use a timer plus my nose to know when it's done. When I can smell it real good, I know it's done!
This Traditional Southern Chicken & Dressing recipe looks so delicious 😋Ms. Tammy.
That makes sense, super wet so it won’t be dry ❤. That old pan is seasoned with so much love and memories.
Got to have a real HEN to make my mom's dressing, a regular chicken will not cut it! Thanks Tammy great video!
This was just like my mama's makes me want to cry cuz she wasn't here this year. How do I get one of your cookbooks or all of your cookbooks.
www.collardvalleycooks.com/cookbooks.html
Oh my this looks good. I'm going to try it. Always listen to mama.
Thank you for the recipe! I made it for Thanksgiving and it was wonderful !🦃❤️🍽
We make a turkey at Thanksgiving but, my husband and I are not big fans of turkey so, I always make roasted whole chickens too. I have your cookbooks and I'm gonna make your chicken and dressing too this year. I love fluffy dressing! Have a great day. Hugs to all Y'all from the southeast coast of Florida🌴😎💙😎🌴
We are the same way about turkey!
Yummy. I mix mine up in a big tall stock/soup pot. I love chicken and dressing.
I understand putting the raw eggs in the dressing....but I don't understand putting in the boiled eggs....I've seen others do it too.
We like it.
In SoWeGa we just call it Cornbread Dressen
You can put whatever you want in front of it
Chicken
Turkey
Ostrich
dressen
Try your Dressen as a stuffed chicken breast
Two breast cut pockets into each
Stuff each and push them together on a cookie sheet tray
Cook 8 Breast makes 4 servings
I saw all of the ingredients, and thougt this can't go wrong...I guarantee that will make a bulldog break a chain ...
Looks so good! I think I will make that for our church dinner next month.
Made this tonight. It was a hit ! Thank u.
That is great Stacey! It is a process but worth it.
I’ll have to look at Granny’s recipe. I use my great grandmothers recipe who was born in 1870, so no cream soups in it. But yours is the first I’ve seen that also added a few slices of white bread like hers. Ours says to wet it, I honestly don’t know why but I still do, 😂
Ours has a lot more eggs too. I’m still going to try yours though. It looks delicious! (Just not at thanksgiving or my family will mutiny, 😂)
I love trying new recipes!!
I have wanted to make this for the longest time! I live alone so can't make all the food just for me. I am eagerly waiting for cooler weather here in So CA so I can impress my holiday guests this year, if they will come (damn this virus!). PS: I have Vol 1 & 2 but now need to get #3! Love you girl! You are so much fun to watch & learn from.
I hope you get some guests! Thanks for your support!
Just like I remember growing up
Just like my Momma’s and Gramma’s dressing!!
I haven’t learned the recipe yet but one day I will!!
I want to do this but just can’t have Thanksgiving without turkey! Can I do this without the chicken? Use canned or saved broth and serve with the turkey. For several years now my son has fried the turkey. We love it and it gives him a special way to contribute to our family traditions. I love your recipes! Thank you for including the directions! I am going to have to order your cookbook just to give support to you! I haven’t bought a cookbook since I discovered recipes on RUclips and Pinterest!😂
We serve this with turkey. However you could include it instead of chicken!
Ohhhh that dressing looks wonderful. ❤
Yum! Absolutely delicious dressing😋 ! Thanks for sharing Tammy!! ❤️
Mama made it this way!Thank you so very much and God Bless!
I don’t make cornbread dressing but I am going to try it. I have Old Country Roses dishes like your Gravy Boat. Beautiful!
I appreciate you so much for this recipe. This is my family’s dressing, no sautéed veggies for the win! ❤
This is exactly how my mama taught me to make her cornbread dressing ❤ Definitely no green bell peppers either. We are both born and raised in central/south Louisiana.
Oh im going to try this dressing for thanksgiving.thanks for sharing😊 God Bless
It looks yummy! This is how I make it, but I have to cut the celery as no one in my family likes it!
❤I got hungry watching this lol
Thank you so very much for this recipe, ma'am. I will make this for my family soon.
I want this so badly. Link to book please.
It is in the description BT. Or you can go to www.collardvalleycooks.com
@@CollardValleyCooks does volume one have a sausage gravy recipe? Ordering tonight from Chicago!
@@btwarner2124 is does not but I will be posting a shorter video with it on there soon!
Tammy, I am from the South......VA & NC.....I thought stuffing & dressing were the same, only called different in different regions. But now I'm thinking it's two different things. Can you explain just explain to me what the difference is? I know you don't add chicken to turkey stuffing, but is that it? OMG, we have the same pattern of china , "Old Country Roses." I'm going to commit to fixing this dressing--probably for Christmas. My kids are embedded in my tradition of fixing stuffing for our turkey for Thanksgiving. You just can't change traditions!!! LOL. I just love your channel, Tammy!!! Thanks for all you do for us.
Stuffing goes in the bird, dressing is outside!
That looks so good, can I have a bite 😊
That's how my late grandmother taught me some southern traditions. Did I mention that, I'm a true southern. Now living in Minnesota
Love your videos and recipes! Thank you & I hope you take good care of yourself! (Hate dressing that's too sage-y, too!)
Ohhh how I miss granny dressing pan ❤️
Yummy, that looks so good, I must try it, the only thing I would do different is add a little more sage, I love sage in dressing
Your dressing looks like my mama’s always did. I’m definitely trying your recipe this year. One question I have is about the cornbread. I don’t understand what you mean by a recipe and a half of cornbread. Can you give me measurements so I can make my cornbread just like you did. Thank you!!
It is a whole cornbread recipe and a half cornbread recipe combined (3 cups of cornmeal all together). Then I only put 2/3 of all that in the dressing.
Milk + eggs + bread = bread pudding. This recipe looks delicious - basically it’s bread pudding with a plus.
This year I am going with this Chicken and dressing recipe. I have tried several of your recipes and enjoyed every one of them. Love me some Southern cooking!
.
Wonderful!
Oh my mouth is watering!! Don't think I'm gonna wait for Thanksgiving; I think I'll make this and eat if for supper in September!! Yummy, yum, yum, yum!!
My husband has always said he only wants Stovetop stuffing because any homemade he has tried was gross. I’m going to make this for thanksgiving this year and hope he’ll try it; I usually can get him too. I love your channel and how natural your videos are. I feel like I’m sitting in your kitchen with you. Oh and granny has been doing it longer than mama.
I hope he likes it!
Can't imagine making stove top dressing for Thanksgiving. Just my opinion.
Looks great can't wait to make it this weekend 😀
Chicken and dressing with gravy is a weakness . It looks good. I will add this to my Thankgiving meal.
This is perfect!!! You've made it easy for me. Thanks so much. 🤗 I'm an instant fan.
I'm not a big fan of custardy dressing, but this does look good!
OH LAWD GIRL! I wish you lived close to me lolol......I would pay you to cook for me
I like how this looks,,I'm gone try this ASAP, I also don't like a sagey or over poultry seasoned dressing
U know when u go out and eat it, most time it is always sagey lol
Looks so good. I've never known anyone to ever put boiled eggs in there.
My grandmother put brown and serve rolls in her dressing
Tammy i am going to have to try it this way, at least one time unless family members like it this way cause we have always did ours with cornbread an biscuits we have never used the light bread, an we have always did ours without sauteing onions in the celery. The one tap that I'm definitely going to have to try for sure is the poultry seasoning and because I never thought of that cuz I don't like too much Sage taste and neither does none of the rest of the family and their dressing you gave me a new idea with that.
You should really like this then!
We called this lunchroom dressing our lunchroom lady made it for us for thanksgiving lunch we didn’t use Boiled eggs or the soup a we put sage and poultry seasoning in what we made but the soup looks good
I just found your videos. I’m a southern girl & I cook dressing similar to your recipe. I will most definitely try your recipe! It looks delicious!
Welcome to CVC Gerri!
Mom's pan dressing always had bell pepper in it!
This is one of my favorite dressing recipes. Just an FYI....the link takes you to the chicken and dumplings recipe, not the dressing. Just giving you a heads up.
My wife always made an Italian version that was very dense...so good with butter drizzled over.
But this looks and sounds so very good!
Best looking dressing ever!!! Iam going to try this recipe, I've been looking for one like this for years. Thanks
