I did love this recipe. At 80 years old, I don't do a lot of cookin' like I use to. Always used half bread and half cornbread, some of the ingredients are new to me, but I sure am going to try your recipe. Will have to cook in stages, cornbread one day and chicken the next. I had to let you know that I love this dish! Since there is only one of me, I always take the leftovers and make single serving slices. Then I use my vacuum seal bags and machine to make single serve serving packages to put in my freezer. Well, I thawed and heated one for breakfast this morning and it was still so moist, flavorful, and delicious!! Because I make them in single serve packages, it only takes a few minutes to thaw, reheat and ready to eat. It freezes great!!!! Thank you so much for this recipe! Now I am going to try your Salisbury steak recipe for freezing also! Thank you!!!

I was wondering if the vacuum part would smoosh it if you sealed before it was solid. Thank you in advance for anymore tips you can offer. 👍😊
@@dixiedoo5876 I am also alone and that is why I freeze a lot of my meals, I just can't seem to learn to cook for one person. I put the dish of dressing in the refrigerator to get cold, and to make sure the liquids would get more solid. Then I removed it, sliced individual servings, put them in the vacuum bags, then vacuum sealed them and put them in the freezer. I also freeze my soups, stews, roast beef, ham, etc. I also bake chicken parts (I used thighs and legs) and freeze them. Then if I want chicken and dumplings, I just thaw out a package in the microwave, sautee my onions and celery, add the chicken and broth or water. When the chicken is falling off the bone, I make my dumplings. I also use them for chicken enchiladas, chicken tacos, chicken stir fry, etc.

Yes it is a good stand alone.
Sharon Lloyd where do you buy chestnuts. I like them but not for dressing. When I lived in East Tennessee we found a chestnut tree and that is the first and only time I have had them.
@@shannonclark8091 usually just the grocery store around the holidays :)
My mouth is watering watching this recipe! I got to find you a recipe for the giblet gravy. This looks over the moon big time!

Got to have a real HEN to make my mom's dressing, a regular chicken will not cut it! Thanks Tammy great video!
That's how my late grandmother taught me some southern traditions. Did I mention that, I'm a true southern. Now living in Minnesota
Looks so good. I've never known anyone to ever put boiled eggs in there.
Best looking dressing ever!!! Iam going to try this recipe, I've been looking for one like this for years. Thanks
My grandmother put brown and serve rolls in her dressing
Your dressing looks like my mama’s always did. I’m definitely trying your recipe this year. One question I have is about the cornbread. I don’t understand what you mean by a recipe and a half of cornbread. Can you give me measurements so I can make my cornbread just like you did. Thank you!!
It is a whole cornbread recipe and a half cornbread recipe combined (3 cups of cornmeal all together). Then I only put 2/3 of all that in the dressing.
What size pan do you bake this in? I’m making this for thanksgiving!!
It is in the description written under the video
@@CollardValleyCooks thank you!
