I used to wear perfect winged liner but as I age my eyes slowly become hooded month after month, and it seems I couldn’t get the grip anymore… now I finally understand why, I can totally relate. Thank you so much, cannot wait to try it!
100% agree! My wings were the envy of everyone and I didn’t even need to put in effort but the hooded lids came with age and now I struggle. But this looks so helpful!!
This is the absolute BEST winged eyeliner tutorial I've ever seen! Thank you so much for this! I'm always apprehensive about doing a wing because of my hooded eyes. I can't wait to try this
That’s so true about doing your liner with your eye closed. Will definitely be trying your technique, because mine needs help lol. Thanks for sharing this video 👍🏼👍🏼
Never thought of this technique, makes sense. When your eyes close it stretches and when you open it constricts, making makeup look crooked. This tutorial really helped, especially after 60
Thank you so much for this! I never considered my lids to be hooded, but they are at least partially. It confused me so much when it came down to the two creases, and I never knew what to do. Your video explains perfectly!
This video is going to help so many people. I learned this method not long ago and god I wish I had sooner. But I never understood why wings never looked right on me, no matter how many tutorials I followed. And even though I've already learned this now before seeing this video, I have to say I've never seen it explained as well as you have here. Bravo.
And this is how EVERYTHING should be done on the eyes (liner, shadow placement, brows, false lashes...): *Oppened eyes, look straight forward, don' t pull the skin, don' t move a single muscle* Simply, braviiissssima. 🧛🏻♀️🖤
Another way to do it so it looks perfect both open AND closed is to swoop the line right below where your hood crease ends then wing it out horizontally towards your temple instead of angling it up toward your eyebrow. By doing this you avoid the weird bat wing shape and it looks amazing. If you have extremely hooded eyes you can point the wing downward slightly to do what is called "puppy liner."
I'm pretty sure I saw a video about a while back but didn't save. I don't do wings anymore in my late 40's but would like to start again. Do you have the link?
unfortunately my weirdly upturned eyes look really weird with horizontal/downturned liner, I personally don't mind the bat liner as it does look pretty cool. Altho your tip might help some people, hopefully
@@worstusernameintheworld9871 Yeah, everyone's eyes are different so it can take some playing around with the angle and where you start it to get it to look right on you. When I'm having a lot of trouble getting the angle right and no matter what I do the edge of the eyeliner doesn't look straight what I do instead is draw the wing triangle outside my crease where it would go if I didn't have hooded eyes then go over the liner on the edges of my lid nearest the lashes with black eyeshadow until it just barely joins the bottom of the wing triangle then add a thin line of a dark medium brown just above it. Smoke it out with a clean fluffy brush first then add a slightly lighter brown until you have it blended out smoothly. You may need to add more black eyeshadow near the edge of the lashes afterwards. Tip: Putting masking tape under your eye at at the same angle as the wing helps keep the blended eyeshadow from going down too far and keeps the bottom line crisp, it's the upper part of the line you're trying to hide by smoking it out.
THIS EXPLAINS EVERYTHING!! Thank you so much for making a video that finally explains why my eyeliner is always wonky even though it looks straight when closed!! All the other "hooded" eye makeup tutorials don't really show actually hooded eyes!
Awesome tutorial and I love your *tips and notes. I have done cat-eye liner forever, but now I am more *mature and of course, your eye hoods get worse. Only thing I would add for us mature ladies is not putting powder on your lids, especially if they are dry. I'm still looking to see what I could use to seal. Definitely trying this technique! New subbie :) Thank you!
This is an old video ans I wish I had found it before!! It's been YEARS since I started looking for a solution for my - always more and more - hooded eyelid.. But nothing did really work and I was so disappointed I decided not to wear eyeliner anymore. I saw this video and just tried randomly... TWO PERFECT WINGS! You have no idea, An, how grateful I am towards you! THANK YOU!! ❤
Thank you for doing this video. This is exactly the problem i have and have stopped wearing eyeliner or at least doing a winged liner because of it. Cant wait to try this
You definitely know what your talking about! I never see anyone do it like this…and that’s precisely why it looks so weird . You are a pro girl! Love this video!!!👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
This is the first time I've ever been able to do this style of winged liner for hooded eyes. My eyelids are very hooded and a bit uneven, the crease line on my lids especially the right one actually almost lines up with my lower lash line now that I am in my mid-thirties. I actually think my eyes are pretty with no makeup, I just hate that I could never make a cat eye look work anymore because it is my favourite. Thanks for the great tutorial, you have a new subscriber for sure!
❤️❤️❤️ Thank You so much for this tutorial!! I am definitely going to try this technique on my hooded eyes. I have been waiting on a more in-depth explanation of winged liner for eyes like mine. 😁😁😁
I cant even tell how this video has finished my struggle with perfect winged liner..just opening the eyes made everything easy..thank u so so much!!! Love u
This is great! My eyes have started to become hooded with age and winged liner looks terrible now. It really upset me that I couldn’t wear it anymore so I’m going to try this.
Omg thank you for this technique I have a hard time doing my eye liner and I have hooded eyes so I hope this will help me to feel comfortable doing eyeliner ❤️
I used to wear eyeliner all the time and I was a teen and I sucked at it exactly because my eyes are super hooded lol Then I stopped for years and trying to get back it now in my 20s. Definitely gonna try doing it like this
I only do wing liner, have for years but I’m never happy with it and just get the even-ness close enough 😅 love seeing a new technique I’m definitely trying this one ☝️
Thank you so much for this! I have hooded eyes and didn’t realize it, and I love cat eyeliner! But I couldn’t get it to look right, especially because I have a scar where the wing usually goes. I can’t wait to wear it out!
i have super hooded eyes, like if i apply eyeshadows i need to go really really high or we will see nothing and i was so frustrated that my eyeliner always looked sooo bad. THANKS, it will help me a lot!
I've watched hundreds of hooded eyeliner tutorials and none of them work for me because they either only have a slight hood with one crease or they don't do this kind of cat eye look which I've always wanted to do and failed because I have downturned triple eyelids. This is the first video I've found with someone who has eye creases similar to mine and while I haven't tried this method yet I'm really hopeful because your eyes look the same as mine💙
So I have hooded eyes but like the point where the crease of my eyelids ends is way more far and down of where the next "point" for the eyeliner to connect so how can I adapt that to my eyes? I've been searching for a video but I have found nothing:
I always have problems with my eyeliner because I have hooded eyes. That is why I avoid liquid eyeliner. But I will try this technique. Thanks for the tips. New subscriber here ❤️
I’ve been researching winged eyeliner tutorials for years and could never get it perfect. This video has been the closest her, still not perfect but better results than the other tutorials.
I think you have to start a bit higher with the line to lift your eye optically because the way you made the line was a little bit too deep and so the eye looks „hanging down“ a little bit.. but still the technique is also mine 😊
there was a time when it would take 2 min. to perfect my line...now? Forget about it😂 Thank you for showing me I don't have to lose my edgy look as I age❤
It’s always when I attempt either winged liner or lashes that I completely ruin the entire look. I absolutely cannot master it. I’ll definitely try this but for me, I find it much easier to spray a liner brush with setting spray, dip it into a thick, dark shadow and start lining and making a lil wing from there. It’s great cause you can build it up and if you make a mistake it’s much more forgiving. I say “thick” shadow because I find that some dark shades in certain pallets ( tartlet in bloom) for example, they don’t blend well. Those are the shadows that seem to work the best for liner. Probably would be great for brows too if you can find your shade.
the problem is..my eyelid is so long that when I do eyeliner it’s going down.. but after some time i liked it! It makes me have puppy eyes so i thought to do a long line and make it directed upwards at the end. This shape of eyeliner leave an empty place next to my outer corner so i thought to fill it with a white eyeliner and im happy with what i achieved 😂 my personalized eyeliner method

Same here. I found the tutorials of Alissa Ashley very helpful for very hooded eyes and winged liner

Amazing video!! Thank you. I’ve been doing my makeup for 30 plus years as each decade the more hooded my eyes look. Awesome technique.

How I wish someone with REALLY hooded eyes make a tutorial. I mean you have eyelids visible not just eyelashes showing under the eyebrows haha
Yep. My hoods go below my eyes. I literally cannot do wings without a line a few inches long that looks a mess.
Ssme. Its so annoying. There is no one who had a line that ends at the eye. There is no way to do a wing eyeliner i dont think
legit
Same struggle 🙁
Totally right
