A child died on this trail July 2, 2024. Family from out-of-town was on South Mountain trails for approximately five hours, daytime highs were around 113 Fahrenheit, 45 Celsius. Kid succumbed one mile in on Mormon Trail at around 2:00 p.m., so they must have started on another and were circling back. Anything over 110 F in Arizona, better know your limits.

I live about 15 min from this area, and went for the 1st time last week. Your video was a great watch for me before I went on that hike. Thanks so much! 🙏🏽

I’ve hiked that general area before. That “horse” was a petroglyph. Some hikes have more than others. Glad you got some extra water!

I used to hike this trail all the time when I lived in South Mountain. So beautiful! It’s gets super hot really fast so take PLENTY of WATER, cover your head and try to go
    in the morning. 🥾

Another great video... First that I saw the terrain in the SW country.
    Check out the "Great Channels".
Located in SW VA near Abingdon, prob only a cpl hrs from your home area.
Has many natural "slot canyons" or hallways to sqeeze between after a nice hike. Nothing like it in Eastern US!

Really amazing video! We've never been to Arizona before, but it was really neat to see Mormon Trail! Thanks for sharing. Wish you could have seen more petroglyphs!!

As someone with hearing loss who relies on captions, sometimes they misinterpret words. At 16:20, just after the trail runner in the blue t-shirt passed you, the caps came up as "that's a beautiful blues guy"! I was thinking "Gretchen- seriously? Are things OK with you and Jerry?" (realized you were saying blue sky...)
Beautiful hike! And no ticks to worry about!

So cool seeing you in a different environment, thanks for posting! If you ever get back out there again Sabino Canyon is an easy fun hike, plus they filmed a scene from Tombstone there.

If you are ever in AZ again please visit Superstition Mountains - Boulder Canyon. Such a beautiful trail next to the lake and mountains. Please stay safe, our AZ summers are no joke.

Do the perimeter trail around Ouray, Colorado. 500 miles north of Phoenix, at 8,000 ft.

Amazing, I have never once felt concerned for you on your Smoky Mtn treks but I declare I was flat out worried about you out there in the desert! You obviously survived but geesh it’s so different out there! Oh, and motel bathroom water?! OMG! 💕

Thank you for such a great video. My RUclips best friend and I will be hiking in Arizona next month. It’ll be our first time there. If you have any tips please let me know. I’m a little nervous because I’m terrified of snakes. I hope we don’t see any on our hike. lol 😂 I subscribed to your channel, I love getting ideas in where too go for my channel. Thank you so much

Hello Gretchen, you are a brave soul. Phoenix, Az. is often the hottest spot in the nation. I hope that you are bathing in sunblock. What possessed you to hike in Arizona? Maybe you will find the lost Dutchman's mine. Please take care out there. The very best to you and family. 🤗
