When putting your axe head on, once you have it onto the handle, flip it upside down! Hit the hilt of your new axe handle with a hammer (pointing the hilt to the sky) and it will set your axe head further onto your handle! This is how I’ve always set my axe heads whether it be felling axes or splitting mulls and it’s always worked great! Great video!!
Your initial narration "Oh, No our axe broke!" In combination with the music in the background. I instantly nostalgic flashbacks of playing Organ Trail! 😂😂 I have no Idea why🤷♀️
It’s because it’s a double bit felling axe. You don’t want that axe to be super duper sharp, because at the end of the day, you don’t need it to be. Traditionally, one side would be kept at more of a cleaver sharpness, and be used to cut roots and harder bits that would chip a sharper axe, or fill it rather quick if it were over sharpened. Meanwhile, the other side would be your starting side. It could be slightly sharper and be used to cut through the inside of the tree, which is softer compared to the bark and the roots.
you should get/make a wooden mallet, you can make them much heavier and bigger since it doesnt damage the axe handle like metal does, and i think some of the problems youre having come from damage done before you even use it
Push the axe head down onto the new handle by hand, then flip the whole thing upside down and hit the other end of the handle with a mallet. You'll be surprised at how well it seats the axe head.
I remember watching my grandpa rehandle an old axe head then he took it and tossed it in the creek by the house. When he took it out the water the handle would be swole up around the axe head.
Good grief, do NOT pound against the top of the eye! This will mushroom the steel at the best and potentially deform and/or damage the thin eye walls on a double bit.
That axe *bit* the dust.
But hey, he handled it nicely.
Wood normally axe why the puns
But then I realized i cant be talking
It was oak-ey in the end

What kind of tree was that at the end? That wood was beautiful.
Purple Heart I think
Eastern Red Cedar
Eastern red cedar.
Looked like a lilac tree similar to what I cut down at the farm
It’s Cedar.👍
bro is the engineer from tf2

You didn’t oil the handle?

You handled that problem head on.
Dont forget to use linseed oil on the handle.
I used half pine tar and half walnut oil based wood finish on mine.
A man of culture I see
Lmao I was just thinking to myself, eoin mightn’t like how janky this guy fixed his axe.
Good ol Lindsey Doyle
Nothing like a little BLO on your wood
Wow that tree has a really nice colour
Its a step wedge friend, good stuff!
That axe isn't a bit rust, that rust is a bit axe.

Oregon…
@@Chopped93VX They could have meant Organ Trail, a game nearly identical to Oregon Trail in gameplay, except with zombies.
Like I said, in the other video, this reminds me of my great great grandpa who moved to modern day Montana in the 1870s
Bro, I love your content. I can't wait for the finished version of your work.
Why is the wood in the trees so pretty and satisfying
"Remember switching your your hatchet is faster than reloading"
Bro that wrench came straight outta tf2
I'm not claiming to be a professional wood cutter or anything but that ax looks pretty dull.....
It’s because it’s a double bit felling axe. You don’t want that axe to be super duper sharp, because at the end of the day, you don’t need it to be. At the end of this cabin you should make like a movie with all of you periods built together
do an episode where you break the godamn wheel!
The rdr2 house building theme go hard 🗣️🔥
Building a log cabin by hand ❌
Rehandeling axes ✅
So sad he didn’t do the tap tap on the base of the handle, I love watching that
I found a bolt one time that is like 2.5-3 feet. No clue what it is but it’s real sturdy.
Start using boiled linseed oil to help the wood stay nourished and keep your tool inside hanging so the handle won't bow.😊
The metal pieces are just called wedges, you can also use screws if you don’t have a wedge though
Dude, I love the background music
you should get/make a wooden mallet, you can make them much heavier and bigger since it doesnt damage the axe handle like metal does, and i think some of the problems youre having come from damage done before you even use it
Bro is stronger than we taught...he fixed a axe witouth an anvil and iron...(sry for bad eng)
Bro remember to oil your handles with boiled linseed! Makes them more durable
THE TREE SCREAMED
Ive Never Seen him Building the cabin but I’m happy with the tree chopping it makes me happy
Now just scrape all of the varnish off the handle and oil that thing
🎶Buy me a saw and table board and I’ll cut it🎶
We used to start out with a 6 ft handle and as it broke we kept cutting it down to roughly 36 inches.
That second tree had some pretty wood
Save tree bro 🙏
Bro knocked down half of the forest with 1 single tree💀
👍 Wonderful video art work! Thank you very much for sharing.
“In the rain, the snow, the ice cold wind whenever”.
My God, what a beautiful Cedar. My Lord, what a beautiful big Cedar tree. That thing will make some kind of boards
"dispenser goin' up" ahh wrench
What
They are step wedges I prefer the round ones but steps work
The proper way to put that ax head on. Once you get it started is to hammer on the opposite end of the handle and draw it on there.
Looks like a big old mature Eastern Red Cedar?. Man, that is one tough trunk to chop and saw. It was also the toughest stump I ever tried to grub out.
TF2 ahh wrench 💀
"I dont know what these metal bits I'd don't know exactly what they're called, but they help wedge out the wood evenly". THEY ARE CALLED WEDGES 😭

I love your videos 🎉🎉❤
put it in water for a hour or two and it will fit good
In my experience, using boiled linseed oil works better cause the wood retains it better.
I started this video the other day and was bummed when it was over😊
There are other methods of hanging and axe, but I'm using the wrong one to get comments...
Ahh fuck, fell for it again! Love the content!
Ok first of all the wood is CEADER Wood, and if you look closely it’s two different tree’s, and those are Step Wedges to widen the wooden handle.
"I broke the god damn axe"
