This upsets me so much. Why the hell did this 4 legged soldier end up in a cage at a shelter!!! Are we as human beings gotten this self involved that we just throw away a soldier who risked his life and saves human soldiers. He’s there for the same reasons as his human partner. Really why should this surprise me? Look at all the Soldiers on the streets all over the country, sick and broken and those are the ones we see. We should be ashamed. Thank you to all the men , women and dogs for your courage and all you’ve done to keep all of us save and free. God Bless you all ❤
Yeah, TOTALLY -amazing- impossible that he ended up in a shelter in the same town as the soldier. They get offered to the most recent handler, and if they can't / don't want them, they go down the line of previous ones. This story is JUST THAT, ....... A *STORY*
Worse many are left in the country we were fighting in when we withdraw. The Army has planes leaving not all full and will not spend the money to bring them home. Private organizations pay to bring them back and reunite them with their prior handlers if they want them and they often do. Too bad this guy didn't put a click to one of those they need donations to keep bringing them home.
Look at your government other actions. What would you expect from a bunch of dishonest self serving narcissists that care about getting personally rich and nothing else?
No Military K9 or law enforcement K9 should ever end up in shelter. I would adopt a retired K9 in a heartbeat. I’ve had a connection to German Shepherds my whole life. From a White GS as a child to a beautiful special Black/Tan GS. I loved this Dog so so very much. She went everywhere with me. Unfortunately I had make the excruciating ultimate hardest decision of my life. I’ve had many dogs over the years but she is the one that I’ll never get over or forget. She loved me unconditionally as I loved her unconditionally. 🩵 This was heart wrenching & beautiful. GOD DOG 🕊️✝️🕊️
These military K9s should get military benefits for their service. They should be allowed to reunite with a former handler or have a program for retired military K9s. Why can’t they have a K9 Veterans Homes like what we have Military Veterans. I hate that these dogs have to go through rigorous training, separation with numerous handlers then discarded after their service. That’s not an honorable thing to do to a person or an animal! Shame on the military!
My dog was a springer spaniel and his name was Boo Bear. I went to work one night and my son left the gate open and I couldn't find him. The next morning my daughter's boyfriend left our house and it was about 15 minutes later on and he had found Boo Bear on the side of the road. So I asked him to bring him home. That Was the moment I lost my heart ❤️.
They are soldiers. They deserve the best life and should get to stay with their handlers, their owners, their love, their guardian because they have guarded them.
Yes, Military and Law Enforcement dogs should stay with their handlers after retirement. They serve their handler, form and unbreakable bond and serve their country. That is the very least these great animals deserve.
@@dewick134so true ! My old K9 Rocky (a Malinois ) remembered me after 6 Years being apart. Rocky was the first 5 years of his life my K9 partner. We were 24/7 together he was always by my side. After I had my accident, he got moved to a different K9 handler. I didn’t see him again, my heart was broken to be honest. But when Rocky got retired I met him again and Rocky remembered me right away. I was lucky to adopt him back, because they asked me if I would give him his last home to stay and I did . We had Rocky for 2 more years and it was as we never been apart.
@sabineputzig9736 HOW BEAUTIFUL! My heart breaks for these partners when they have to go separate ways. I can't begin to imagine it. I had 3 shih tzus and they knew my every move. My oldest went to heaven about 3 months ago. She was 18 and 5 months. I miss her so much. Two left, one is 16, has heart congestion on medication. My baby is 6. I know I will have them with me forever because I believe our beloved animals go to heaven. It wouldn't be heaven without our loyal, beloved best friends. They love us unconditionally.
Would you put your veteran, returning from serving your country in a homeless shelter? Well that is what you are doing sending a veteran dog to a shelter!
I am the 5th home of a nearly 5 year old shepherd mix. No one looked to adopt her. She had shut down. But I recognized her pain and took her home. I've now had her 18 months. I tell her over and over again she's not only forever here, but she's safe from pain and rejection. It took over 7 months for her to begin to allow herself to attach to me. We are now attached at the hip. She is smart, loving and protective. I see more and more love and attachment from her as time passes. And the dog returned so often because people feared her is my beloved special love
Yes! The brave dogs should always be retired with their soldier handlers! It’s cruel to separate them! Beautiful story! Thank you for your service, to all dogs! Thank you for your service , to all human soldiers too!
True but many lose their handlers to war and sometimes they won't attach to another soldier....at one time they euthanized the dogs so they have cone a long way but still have a ways to go
This beautiful dog was a wounded military soldier, and should have been respected as one once he retired. AT NO POINT should he ever have been alone in a shelter or a cage.
Absolutely! Their journey to rebuild trust and love is so inspiring. It’s amazing to see how patience and dedication can create such a strong bond again.
What they do to these military dogs is absolutely sinful! These dogs are just discarded and they have feelings just like humans have feelings! As a whole the military doesn't care about their personnel, the upper echelon they're just pawns! It's shameful the way they treat humans and the way they treat these dogs! I'm ex-military and they could have cared less whether I was dead or alive!! These dogs need to be loved an cared for until they die!! Something needs to be done, but in my opinion, nothing will ever be done to change this!😢 Praise God this man wasn't willing to give up on his canine friend!❤❤❤
This story made me cry.I read that if a soldier was a handler, they had to pay a lot to get the dog home with them. Why wouldn't it be automatically sent home with the soldier after the war ended.I would think there was quite a few broken hearts man and dog.❤❤❤❤
Yes. The trouble with the government is everything is all about money. This situation should not. It's a disgrace to any government who doesn't take care of this FREE OF CHARGE.
Agree with two commentaries that insist that retiring canine travel- expense back to the states to reunite with their military handlers should be paid for by military budget. Until the rule of law is put in place, I solicit to any viable non-profit to step in for now to pick up the cost. I am a female veteran; my husband is a veteran retiree of 24 years service, Army, Air Force, &CA Air Ntl Guard) two tours in Vietnam Nam).
Why can’t the war dogs stay with their partners when they leave the service. They were a savior when they serve together and just maybe they can still be each other savior when they leave the service. They need each other to heal. I was smilling the whole time I was listening to the story and so happy that they are healing together.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Rex is a war hero and I know that being in war he has PTSD just like a human! They need therapy too! He should get benefits also! He is a war veteran! Thank you Jack and Rex for your service!!!!!🐕🦺🇺🇸💫
Rex gave so much and it breaks my heart that he also had to suffer so much depression and anxiety.Thank God he has been reunited with Jack and will live the rest of his days together with so much love🐾🩷
Rex & this brave special former soldier are awesome. Rex remembered but traumatized by war & aftermath of being stuck in a kennel unloved until this soldier with a heart ❤came back for him. It's about trust & loyalty. Entire war service dogs & soldiers should be taken care of by US Gov. God bless both! 🙌
Why are these Dogs not given to Service personnel when they are retired. This would allow them to be safe, loved,&appreciated. They don't deserve to be disregarded once their service days are over.THEY DESERVE MORE!!❤
My Father was stationed in Germany during the Korean war. He helped care for and trained Belgian Malinois & German shepherds . It was quite an experience for my young father. He is 95 and still tells us his amazing stories.
Remember the four thousand military dogs that got left behind in Vietnam .. shame America why were they not brought home they had saved their country 😭
@@lorrainedryburgh5079 As one who have heard of stories of canines left behind (though not sure if some had been well looked after) when these precious beings had not been well looked after. Are the precious dogs saved I wonder
@@jennykogyi the 3,000+ Vietnam War Dogs were either euthanized by the military, given to the South Vietnamese soldiers who who knew nothing about how to handle them and were frightened of them, or turned some loose to fend for themselves. There are stories that some ended up as food. They were categorized as equipment and just abandoned. One of the biggest blights on the military. Approximately 238 dogs were brought back to bases here or transferred to other posts for some unknown reason.
WTF WERE THEY THINKING?? WHO WAS IN OFFICE YHE SHOULD BE COURT MARSHALLED!!! OMG!! WELL BY NOW I GUESS THEY ARE ALL GONE CAUSE THEY EAT THEM OVER THERE!! 🤬🤬😓♥️🙏✌️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
A comment can't begin to enlighten those who haven't known this❤ and bond.I had a similar bond with a German Shepherd that my children and I took in for a friend. My miniature poodle just passed after 17 years.❤❤❤ To make his story, which was filled with blessings daily fit; I know that 🙏 little dog had 🪽 wings!!!I saved his life once, and he returned the favor. That is a fact. I have just adopted a rescue .💕I'm working hard, but I encourage anyone who has the opportunity to do any task, no matter how small, to bond with an animal. ❤️❤️🐕
I pretty much cried through this video. Thank you so much, Jack, for being the man you are and restoring this precious dog and his relationship with you.❤
ANIMAL CRUELTY! Dogs give us so much UNCONDITIONAL love, protection, care and support every moment we are blessed to have them! When they need us, they should receive the same and MUCH MORE! NOT be put into a shelter. If the owner died and no one can take the dog, that is different but especially, Police and service dogs and all dogs should receive all the love and care they gave us. NOT be abandoned.
Thank you very much for posting this very touching true story. It is definitely not without basis why only e dog has been described as man's best friend amongst all in e animal kingdom. I am certain that many would easily attest to this fact of e proven loyalty of dogs to their owners and their loved ones, etc. Thank God for having created such trustworthy and wonderful companions to man. God bless all of you! PTL!
What an amazing and heartwarming story. I think Rexes biggest trauma was when he lost Jack his owner; it hurt him deeply and he missed him terribly. When Jack came back into his life it took Rex time to trust again ..
It was so touching my dad trained dogs in World War II. He also trained our dog when he got home. She was a German Shepherd. Her name was Jody. I miss them both terribly 12 vets out there and their service animals thank you for your service!!🎖️🎖️
We adopted a Doberman that was retired because he had been in an on duty incident where there was a homicide. After they cleared the house they found the dog trying to hide behind the water . He could not be retrained as a sniffer. He was much the same as this GSD. It was four years before he would take a treat from my hand. He smells and hears things that we can’t. I find myself in the backyard staring up with Max into the back night. ❤
This is the second story of a army/police dog in a shelter!!! How does that happen? It seems too awful to be true Don't the armed forces and police follow up on war/crime fighting vets, because that's what they are ❤ So many vets struggle with PTSD, so I finally understand that our animal companions will too. We had a wonderful loving staffie. One night, he kept on barking. I let him out and checked for danger. Nothing. By the third time, I followed him. Upset stomach. When I brought him in, I sat down in his bed and pulled him over my lap. I spent many hours comforting him that night. A memory I'll never forget. He has passed, but that time still remains with me. Captain Carter of Bullringer, I still remember and love you ❤
The dogs are adopted to families and individuals, but they first ask the handlers if they want to adopt the dog. Military dogs are adopted from Lackland AFB in Texas. My friend and I drove to Levenworth to get hers. Fema was a wonderful girl. She had been a bomb sniffing dog and never forgot how to do her job. (see my other comment)
Yes, it made me cry. Dogs have memories. How can you train them if they don’t have memories. There are many videos out now showing super well-trained dogs.
I have 2 sheps now. Number 11and 12 in my life. Not including one litter of 13 pups. The 2 I have now. Will be my last, as I’m nudging 79. Never ever ever.. had a “ bad Shepherd “ loyal to their last breath. Each one, their names bring back memories, of how they saved my life , and my sanity- some would question that- . For years I was emotionally in a void. I could only trust my dogs. All else had a ? above it. In the many years of difficulty, they were the fur my 3 cried in. Laughed with, lay on the floor with a huge dog, brought them comfort and security. I am afeared of losing the 2 I have now. But also afeared for them , if I leave first. …yeah
These dogs get a raw deal. They trust their partner without knowing that each step they take could blow them to pieces. They are the best of the best, great dogs!! He loves his partner licking his face and lies down across his feet to get some rest. He's a soldier except he has fur. He watches his partner's hand signals, his heart beating double beats because the search had started. So many years of dedication, injuries, and memories of explosions, blasts and gunfire. I'm a woman but I respect, honor, and love these dogs. They give the best of their lives for the military and our country. We salute them for their dedication, love and loyalty.
I worked as a kennel manager, for about 5yrs, at our local SPCA. I left because I eventually developed compassion fatigue. It broke me to work with all the dumped, lost and deserted animals. Huskies have a special place in my heart, and by the time I left I had 9 at my home. Some old, some with one eye, some with 3 legs and 2 suffering from hip dysplasia. They mended my broken spirit, and I can only hope that I did the same with them. I walk them on our local beach, take them to our local pub, take them to our school for disabled children and take them to old age homes. I only have 3 left now, but they are my companions, friends, confidants and family. Stories like this both break my heart and give hope.
It’s so heartbreaking 💔 can you imagine those good dogs a fight in the war mit their humans and instead of thanking the dogs they are pushed around from shelter to shelter. This dog was lucky that he was found by his war owner.
My Heart & Soul goes out to All Military Service Men & Women. I had 2 brothers in the service. You All go thru A Lot for everyone. God Bless You All & We ❤
Growing up, an uncle gave our family an English Bulldog. We named him Tonto (we are Oklahomans). He was only a couple of months old when we got him and my mother would hold him in her lap and love on him. We loved him, but he kept chasing, catching, and then killing cats in the neighborhood - to the point that neighbors demanded we get rid of him. We finally gave him away to a retired Army officer in a nearby town - 30 miles away. About eight or nine years later, we were out for a Sunday drive and Mom asked Dad to drive by the man’s home to see if he still lived there. He did. When we got out of the car, we saw Tonto tied by a rope to a clip on an outdoor clothesline, long enough for Tonto to exercise by moving back and forth under the 20 foot clothesline. When my mother walked up to him and called his name (we later learned he was nearly blind), she sat down in the grass beside him. He moved into her lap and was whimpering and crying like a baby. We knew he had never forgotten her. It was a scene I’ll never forget.
❤️❤️ German Shepherds are such great dogs. They are smart, loving and intuitive. I had one when I was young. She meant everything to me … she was my best friend. She even rescued me when I fell off the dock on Lake Austin when I was young. Thank you for the beautiful reminder of our best friends!!
I'm a Military VETERAN. and this story really hit me hard. I cried like a little boy, listening to this hoping Rex would remember him. Dogs never forget their original owners. 🙏💪👍
It is a very touching story! Every pet or K9 are God's creatures. God makes them special like us. They put 100% trust on us human to love and care. The bonds that we have, and share is very unique. My sons' dogs knew how much I went through with the stress and anxiety with my loved one's surgery. When I came home from the hospital, they just came over and lay their heads on my laps with sad facial expression to comfort me. Normally, when I came home from work, as soon as I entered the door, they would run over with excitement that I'm home. This time they knew that I needed them more than they needed me. They came to greed me and comfort me. My tears rolling down that how much they loved me.
Dogs have emotions very similar to humans. Separation from a loved one is as traumatic with them as it is with humans, EXCEPT they do not understand what is happening and some shut down. Imagine the heartache of those poor doggies in shelters with broken hearts 💔 They most likely suffer different kinds of trauma, experience no love or kindness and after painful days are killed because someone treated them like trash. My heart ♥️ and prayers go out to those doggies given no respect and killed. Please adopt a homeless 🐶 doggie that will learn to LOVE you forever. GOD BLESS THESE BEAUTIFUL DOGGIES GOD CREATED… for human companions ❤ THANK YOU 🙏♥️🙏
A few years ago I had been part of a charity to send care packages to war dogs deployed with our troops. I really enjoyed getting support from our community to help pay for the contents of the boxes. They went mostly to Afghanistan and were filled with doggles (dog goggles), Ruff Wear boots, cooling vests and cooling blankets. We included toys and treats as well as a few things for the handlers. It caused me to learn a lot about these dogs and as they were attainable after retirement, my partner and friend adopted a war dog named FEMA. She continued to be a bomb sniffing dog and when I walked her in the nearby park, she would sniff the side of the road from one side across to the other. Back at the store where my friend worked, she would sniff the people coming in and check all around the inside and outside of the store. Once trained, they never forget their job. Fema got sick and lost her ability to walk. She was loved to the end and I miss her even now. Please help support the War Dog Association run by a Viet Nam vet who was a former handler.
What a wonderful story about life with a war dog apparently, a well trained and loyal canine . You and your partner were blessed, as was FEMA, to share a pleasant, loving life with a truly caring humane closure at its finale. God Bless you!
Wonderful story. If you’re lucky once in a life time you have this special relationship with your dog. It happened to me , my boxer dog Snowflake she was my child. After her death I mourned her and one day I checked our security cameras and saw her coming home. I have kept a copy of this and Thank God for allowing her to come back I know she waits for me .
Thank you I'm not military nor have I ever been but God and yes I do I mean God has put a special place in my heart for our veterans and these wonderful animals that love and keep them safe thank you for your story in the patience that you presented with
I had my baby, I got a tiny Rottweiler German Shepard mix, only fit in my hand. She grew and grew she was as big and fat as me. She understood everything. Even showing me when my husband was coming home,he was coast guard 6months on 2 months home. Boomer would sit in daddy’s chair, sure enough later in the day I get a phone call daddy’s on his way home. Even when I told her to find my husband who was on the roof, sure enough she walked up the lane and looked up,like to say he’s up there can’t you see him. She was so smart. So many moments I had over 15 years, I still miss her today.
I salute you and your dog for your bravery in the field of war. I also salute what you did. Thank you for serving. I am a veteran of the first gulf war so I feel a bit of what you did. I appreciate all you both did. Thank you.
Thank you for your kind words and for your service. Your experience in the Gulf War means a lot, and I truly respect what you’ve been through. It’s an honor to connect with fellow veterans. I appreciate all you did. Thank you!
This has really touched my heart and I want to thank you not only for your service, but for your dedication and commitment to Rex with patience. Yep I am crying tears of joy and gratitude.
My last GSD was also called Rex, I recued mine from a Veterianry surgery where I used to work he had been abandoned by what was his owners at the time who did not want to pay the treatment bill from an accident he had been involved , ending up with a broken leg. I took him home and had the next 10 happy years with him. That dog was so handsome / intelligent and had a great memory and know how to work things out for himself. It was their loss and my gain. I still miss him after many years and since his passing I know when he comes to visit me.
What a beautiful story! Thank God you found Rex again and you saved him. Wow he deserved to be in your care and find what was familiar and loving. Also your service is much appreciated 🙏.
I'm 61 and had rescued a one year old standard pitbull. She came from a local shelter moving her body with a long sad face up and down against the front of the cage. She was like please take me home. She had spent a year in the Philadelphia SPCA prior to coming out to the media SPCA. The family new she was the one. My daughter named her Sadie. She has been the best thing to me recovering from a breakdown. Now she is 11.5 years old and my best buddy. I love her. Yes one night say she is a bit spoiled but every day she gives me unconditional love. What a wonderful girl. We saved her and she saved me. I think pitbulls are the sweetest dogs that one could ask for. My baby girl has a harder time getting up now but still manages to jump on the bed to sleep. We have four separate beds for her throughout the house. Plus she will jump up in our bed still. I could go on but I'll just say this. Whom ever said dog is man's best friend is 100% correct!! 💯❤❤
My 94 yr old Client gave her Old Dog Yucca Herbal Supplements. It worked SO Well my Client started taking Yucca Too. She OUTRAN Me when we went Walking She was SO Healthy & Strong !!
Wonderful story, true or not. In Vietnam, we had a mascot, not a working dog, but he had an official Army "Dog Tag." In those days such dogs were left behind. He adopted me before I came home. Still miss him.
You do realize these pictures (of the dog) are AI generated and this story is probably not true. I don't mean to minimize the horror of us leaving war dogs behind or parting them from their handlers when they should come home with them. But this is made up and they're trying to make money. There is NO WAY a trained military german shepherd would not recognize its handler. And also, the dog got home to a shelter, but there was no plan after that? Doesn't even make sense. This is entirely made up.
What a beautiful dog. Why oh why dont the Military treat these dogs eith the kindess they deserve mot put into shelters and cages after all they have done for your nation
I'm so glad you loved the story! It means a lot to me. ❤❤❤❤❤ Thank you for being a part of this journey! There will be many more emotional stories coming your way!
I had always wanted a German Shepherd..my father gave me one who was a little puppy because I had to come home from school and my parents were at work. As he grew he became very protective of me and he made sure that I was always safe.
Vietnam is a word that that is egregious. Not only was a senseless waste of American military. Until very recently, the Vietnamese ate dogs and cats. Most of those dogs left behind probably ended up being tortured, killed and eaten. Thank you brave handsome boys, for your service to our country. The way you all were mistreated is shameful. Im hoping you both have a long, happy, loving life together ❤❤❤❤😢😢😢😊
It' s a wonder-ous thing when both human and and animal can give their hearts to each other. I've had that with at least two of my dogs and I wouldn't trade it for the world. It's like we can read each other's mind and the other way around. It makes the relationship so much deeper so much much more significant. This last dog I have is a blonde and white border collie and is now about 17 yrs old but still acts like a puppy. I just love him. His name is Siwilie, which means little red fox tail in native American, because he has such a glimmer of red fur on his tail. I just love him to bits and pieces. Thanks so much for the great story❤❤🐕🐕❤❤❤
Why are not you kept together when you discharge from the service? Just wondering if this might not assist both of you. I appreciate you sharing your story. ❤❤
Thanks to you and Rex for serving and being loyal to each other. I know to well about an animal and their handler. I will try to keep this short. My partner and service animal is James a large orange cat who has saved my life to many times to count. James has helped me from killing myself and support me in some really bad times. And I have been there for him during times of his distress. I wish people would stop and consider how much of our bond is so important. ❤❤❤

Thank you for your service. I know how much it takes to train one of these dogs for service and they're so loyal to the companion, I just don't understand why they can't be more humanely treated when their service is over. They need to be given to the person that they train with. My nephew has a dog like this that he was trained with and it's his service dog. They are so loyal. So kind. They're beautiful, beautiful dogs and they never stop working even after they're retired. My nephew and his dog are A TRUE team. Nothing could break the Bond they have. God bless both of you. I pray that you have a long life together

Yes, Military and Law Enforcement dogs should stay with their handlers after retirement. They serve their handler, form and unbreakable bond and serve their country. That is the very least these great animals deserve.
I have alway thought this , because dogs don’t have long lives so should go with their handlers.
Yes... who better to help in recovery from trauma... the dogs should stay with their wartime partners, becoming a different kind of service canine.
A dog deeply scarred both physically and emotionally, Rex represents unwavering loyalty and the ability to heal when given love and patience.
I couldn't agree with you more!!! ♥️🙏✌️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Think it’s so cruel to put old war dogs in to shelters. They should be living with a very loving family.
You don't need to worry. This is just a story. What are the chances of a handler finding his dog in a shelter? This is just a story.
They have left them behind in the war country they are not soldiers they are classified as “equipment” so can be left behind like a jeep.
@anniemorrison1250 I think if this story was real, that dog would have recognized his partner immediately. Dogs remember smells better than sight.
@@dewick134so true ! My old K9 Rocky (a Malinois ) remembered me after 6 Years being apart. Rocky was the first 5 years of his life my K9 partner. We were 24/7 together he was always by my side.
Can‘t belief that America puts its war veterans into shelters😢
Would you put your veteran, returning from serving your country in a homeless shelter? Well that is what you are doing sending a veteran dog to a shelter!
😢
Very sad.
We should see that if their partner wants them every effort is made to reunite them!
Given how we treat human veterans, this should be no surprise.
They broke his trust. They should never be separated. That bond goes beyond our understanding.
❤YES. THIS STORY WAS SAD BUT TURNED OUT FULL OF JOY. DOGS ARE SO ❤️ LOVING +TRUST TAKES TIME.. BRILLIANT ENDING❤
Poor dog, not knowing why he was once separated from his handler. The trauma of the separation had him forgotten his buddy.😢
Yes! The brave dogs should always be retired with their soldier handlers! It’s cruel to separate them! Beautiful story!
Thank you for your service, to all dogs!
Thank you for your service , to all human soldiers too!
True but many lose their handlers to war and sometimes they won't attach to another soldier....at one time they euthanized the dogs so they have cone a long way but still have a ways to go
This story melted my heart-such a beautiful journey of love and healing. Truly inspiring! 🐾❤
These dogs don’t forget. God please watch over our veterans, and their dogs. ❤🦅
That's why I think it wasn't really rex. They don't forget.
Amen.
Ahket. Vietnam 1970 ADF
@@karenhardy7964 Amen in Jesus name♥️🙏✌️🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
God brought these two together again, then Rex made him prove himself.
This beautiful dog was a wounded military soldier, and should have been respected as one once he retired. AT NO POINT should he ever have been alone in a shelter or a cage.
I am so glad that Jack got Rex back. Together, they created a new bond. I am happy for them both.
Absolutely! Their journey to rebuild trust and love is so inspiring. It’s amazing to see how patience and dedication can create such a strong bond again.
A Military Animal should NEVER Ever be in a shelter!
😡. Shame!!!
There is a saying. A dog is man’s best friend. Very true and
Obvious in this case
I keep praying for help. The vet and dog deserve so much more 😢❤
@@dtpdtp6177thank you both for your Service
A very touching story , I am sure the animals go through the same traumas as the soldiers do , God Bless all veterans and their dogs
I cried before tears..
MY HUSBAND WAS A K9 POLICE OFFICER AND HAD 7 GERMA N SHEPARDS IN 20 YRS. THAT HE ADORED AND SAVED HIS LIFE A COUPLE TIMES.
My father used to be a police dog handler back in the 1960's in the UK they are beuatiful dogs
Rex is a war hero and I know that being in war he has PTSD just like
a human! They need therapy too!
He should get benefits also! He is
a war veteran! Thank you Jack and
Rex for your service!!!!!🐕🦺🇺🇸💫
Rex gave so much and it breaks my heart that he also had to suffer so much depression and anxiety.Thank God he has been reunited with Jack and will live the rest of his days together with so much love🐾🩷
A,truly heart warming story, both dog and owner were suffering from PTSD and needed each other.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
I'm so happy that you found your best friend. And you are giving him a happy loving home to live in
Rex & this brave special former soldier are awesome. Rex remembered but traumatized by war & aftermath of being stuck in a kennel unloved until this soldier with a heart ❤came back for him. It's about trust & loyalty. Entire war service dogs & soldiers should be taken care of by US Gov. God bless both! 🙌
I am so sorry for all the trauma our veterans have experienced. So many lives damaged for the greed and power grabs of governments!
Poor Rex felt abandoned by the very men he trusted and loved😢😢😢 thats a deep deep hurt.
And defended with his life❤
Why are these Dogs not given to Service personnel when they are retired. This would allow them to be safe, loved,&appreciated. They don't deserve to be disregarded once their service days are over.THEY DESERVE MORE!!❤
I find this story very beautiful and I lost my dog. ❤❤
So sad to hear this all over again about Vietnam . Still so heartbreaking after all these years
@@lorrainedryburgh5079 As one who have heard of stories of canines left behind (though not sure if some had been well looked after) when these precious beings had not been well looked after.

I totally agree with you !
Yes
Yes, I had working dog.We were together ten years and he got shot.I miss him to this day
So sorry for your loss. That must have been heartbreaking. So sad.
😭😭😭😭💔💔💔💔🙏🙏🙏🙏
That's heartbreaking. So sorry for your loss.
That was beautiful. I'm so thankful they have each other again.
What a touching story. Glad Rex and his buddy r back together!
Such a touching story. So glad Rex and his friend are reunited!
It seems too awful to be true
Don't the armed forces and police follow up on war/crime fighting vets, because that's what they are ❤
So many vets struggle with PTSD, so I finally understand that our animal companions will too.
…yeah
Is this a true story ... if not, at least a good story
@@cherylfrank6468I pray you have a long healthy life along with your 2 fur babies.
I grieve for thr animals and their military companions...so loyal and unconditional love. Why can't they be together?
I agree that Rex should be with the soldier my goodness .
It’s so heartbreaking 💔 can you imagine those good dogs a fight in the war mit their humans and instead of thanking the dogs they are pushed around from shelter to shelter. This dog was lucky that he was found by his war owner.
This Is very Sad. THIS REALLY DOES HAPPEN. In Any Branch Of the Military YOU ARE EXPENDABLE ! Animal and Human. 💔

This story brings tears to my eyes. Was your mom able to get Tonto back?
❤️❤️ German Shepherds are such great dogs. They are smart, loving and intuitive. I had one when I was young. She meant everything to me … she was my best friend. She even rescued me when I fell off the dock on Lake Austin when I was young. Thank you for the beautiful reminder of our best friends!!
I'm a Military VETERAN. and this story really hit me hard. I cried like a little boy, listening to this hoping Rex would remember him. Dogs never forget their original owners. 🙏💪👍
All war dogs or any dog should never be left behind😢💔💔
GOD BLESS THESE BEAUTIFUL DOGGIES GOD CREATED… for human companions ❤
THANK YOU 🙏♥️🙏
A few years ago I had been part of a charity to send care packages to war dogs deployed with our troops.
GOD = DOG it's all about the love. Great story and hope Rex is continuing on his journey with Jack.
This a lovely story
thanks

Great story about the bond between the man and his dog. They deserved to be together for life.
German Shepherds are special ❤️✊

Wonderful story, true or not. In Vietnam, we had a mascot, not a working dog, but he had an official Army "Dog Tag." In those days such dogs were left behind. He adopted me before I came home. Still miss him.
Left behind soldiers that’s horrible
Poor baby, canine PTSD. I'm surprised that Rex's nose didn't bring back memories.
It did.
PTSD makes perfect sense
Beautiful story! Dogs really are man’s best friend.
Thank you for your service Sir and k9 Rex! Happy reunion and God bless

I had always wanted a German Shepherd..my father gave me one who was a little puppy because I had to come home from school and my parents were at work. As he grew he became very protective of me and he made sure that I was always safe.
Give him your sweaty T-shirt!!! He will remember!
What a beautiful reunion ❤❤
Thanks to you and Rex for serving and being loyal to each other. I know to well about an animal and their handler. I will try to keep this short. My partner and service animal is James a large orange cat who has saved my life to many times to count. James has helped me from killing myself and support me in some really bad times. And I have been there for him during times of his distress. I wish people would stop and consider how much of our bond is so important. ❤❤❤
What a crock of shit

Thank you for your service. I know how much it takes to train one of these dogs for service and they're so loyal to the companion, I just don't understand why they can't be more humanely treated when their service is over. They need to be given to the person that they train with. My nephew has a dog like this that he was trained with and it's his service dog. They are so loyal. So kind. They're beautiful, beautiful dogs and they never stop working even after they're retired. My nephew and his dog are A TRUE team. Nothing could break the Bond they have. God bless both of you. I pray that you have a long life together
Beautiful story very touching indeed. So happy they found each other proves that animals also feel seperation loss and depression they both found and saved each other.
Made my day this story. Blessings to both Soldiers.
