Outremer made a strategic move partnering with you. I pray that in the most successful way measurable, this becomes the talk of the sailing industry for years to come. When the wind is right you can sail away and find tranquility.
Sailing, takes me away…here’s a little trivia for you…Nick and I were in the same Chorus class in the 6th grade and Mr. Koss had us warm up to that song every morning for a year! Thanks for your nice comment. ⛵️
You’re right. This next adventure for you IS for all of us. Because unfortunately for most of us we’d never be able to afford a boat like this or be offered a deal like this. So, I’m glad you guys are getting onboard (see what I did there 🤪) and taking us with you. Have fun and we look forward to living vicariously through you.
You two are such a joy. One of the nicest couple I've never met, but would love to. I wish you well in your next adventure. I, like countless others, will be tuning in for sure! Take care.
Wow, what an exciting opportunity for you both! Partnering with Outremer is a game-changer, and I have no doubt that this will be a monumental moment in the sailing industry. Your genuine love for sailing and your captivating content have brought so much joy to your viewers, and I can't wait to see where this adventure takes you. Fair winds and smooth seas await you, and we'll be right here, eagerly following along every step of the way. Cheers to new beginnings and unforgettable experiences! ⛵️😄🌊
Outstanding and couldn't happen to a nicer couple!! It also amazes me when marketing folks for major companies have really good ideas. Good luck and look forward to watching your adventures in the future!
If you want to see fall leaves, come to Maine! As a kid, I was fishing on a lake with a friend's family. His mom said, " I feel like I am in a bowl of fruit loops!" The water was dead flat and like a mirror. The reflection of the leaves on the water was amazing!
I'm still pinching myself for you two, I can hardly believe this remarkable opportunity Outremer has been immensely kind to have offered. I'm looking forward to your first voyage onboard such a fine vessel.
I am so happy for you and looking forward to the more upbeat videos from the new boat. It was slightly depressing to see you becoming so frustrated with finding a new boat only to have it fall through at the last minute. The more relaxed faces on both of you is much more reassuring and comforting to me at least. Congratulations and looking forward to the the new videos!
Your hard work putting together your previous seasons has lead to this adventure. We enjoy following you and aspire to be somewhat like you. The inventory of your camera gear was very instructive. Thank you and good luck!
IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU ALL !!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉THIS IS SO AMAZING TO HEAR! Cheers to your new baby! ❤ Sail away ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ its been a long time coming, but maybe that wait was worth it!
I love that you put family first. There is this phase of sailing. Go home, buy needed gear whatever your specific needs are. Your grateful hearts are what this world needs. I aspire to be as grateful as the two of you. There is only one of me, unless you count 3 cats that live with me. But who knows what the future brings. But at my age, well past 75, you need to get lucky. I am feeling lucky these days.
Very few things better in this world than the love of furry friends. Cats, though...can be hard to tell sometimes....LOL. My mom told me tonight that if you make it to your 70s, you have a good shot at 100. I don't know if it is the food or medical or whatever, but 75 just doesn't seem the same as it was 30 years ago. Hope we get lucky enough to make it to 75! Cheers and thank you for the kind note.
Hey guys, thanks for allowing us to come along on your journey. Just wanted to say well done for staying true to yourself and hanging out for your performance Cat. This is a great match up and once you're sailing with the 55 is finished hopefully the relationship with Outremer will continue, have a Blessed Christmas. Ron
A well deserved opportunity! Congratulations! Thanks for including us on this new adventure. Meagan, I appreciate your appreciation of the leaves, for introducing The Old Man Challenge, and your humorous use of a family hairloom to adorn Nick. Nick, I look forward to learning about the likely effects of El Niño on gloabal weather patterns. And, we all look forward learning how to to sail this Outremer with you (through your talented videography). Here's to a drone free ocean! Onward!
What a great beginning to the next adventure! I think this is a great opportunity to show people how to get to know a boat for the first time. Mind you, this isn’t an ordinary first boat! 🇨🇦. BTW, the trees were fantastic this year, Victoria BC.
My goodness, one for the books! Obviously things change quick in the PNW, and the rains have now arrived! Yeh, this is going to be epic and we hope to show what it is like to make this transition...one question I'd hope to answer is whether or not this WOULD make a good first boat. Cheers!
It's funny how a little hindsight can make the struggles in life look like "the Plan". The past few years of watching you two trying to find the new Clarity has been painful. I felt your frustration. So now it seems like you guys had to go through all of that just to appreciate this "Gift". My wife and I always say, "oh that's why this sucked so much..." right after we take the time to realize where we are at a particular moment was just part of "the Plan." While I don't particularly believe in Fate or Karma, something like them do seem to wind their tentacles through our lives if we pay attention. Thank you for keeping us along for the ride.
Thanks for sharing and relating. It’s funny how with time (and each frustrating experience) we got better at believing it would all make sense one day. Trust the process and enjoy each moment along the way.
Congratulations you guys. This relationship couldn’t have happened to a more deserving couple. I guess you guys will be picking up the Outremer torch from Riley and Elayna’s La Vagabonde ride.
Congrats on 100k, can’t wait to see the boat travels you 2 are heading on. The “deal” is totally incredible so happy for you both. Wishing you safe travels and smooth sailing Sending love from Alberta
Gotta "hand it" to Outremer and the O'Kellys-THIS arrangement is a PERFECT business and personal decision for both! But the BIGGEST number of winners here are your subscribers and Patreons-who get to watch the O'Kelly's figure out this incredible sailboat and learn about it right along with you two!! You perfected Clarity, and it's gonna be VERY cool watching you perfect Clarity II! CHEERS!!
I’ve been grinning from ear to ear the entire episode. Couldn’t have happened to a nicer couple. Congratulations, one wave at a time. Cheers from Vancouver Canada.
The Outremer 55 might be intimidating, but this boat is also quite forgiving. Oh, and by the way : next time you'll be in La Grande Motte, take a moment to visit Les Baux de Provence. It's only 1.5h away by road.
I've stayed with you because of how you kept inviting us along on your adventures - either trips on land, looking for your next boat, exploring new cities & towns, taking us back to Oregon, and now preparing for great opportunity to break-in a new ⛵. Maybe you can get a little tree to decorate on the boat. Thanks for all that you do in putting your interesting videos together to bring us along. PEACE, SALAAM, SHALOM.
Congrats on the new boat adventure! Please be VERY careful to have a backup to the SanDisk drives as they have a high fail rate per my sister who is a busy photographer. Better safe than very sorry!!
"We're going to have to raise our game..." Now you know how I felt when the U.S. Government allowed me to fly their aircraft in support of national objectives for 20 years! I had an absolute blast, "comprised of long durations of boredom punctuation by moments of stark raving terror." Actually, it could be better described by about 80% normal ops and 20% not-so-normal ops. From what I've seen on sailing vids, much the same is true.
You two are so thoughtful, adventurous, respectful of people and your environment AND you’re just super fun to follow! Thank you!! Enjoy this next chapter. Hope to “sea” you out there. PS. The SV Hokule’a is crossing the Atlantic now. 😮
I can hardly wait, the new camera gear/drones are really going to help the production value, not that it has been lacking. Truth be told, the video quality could go down and I'd still watch. You two are the definition of quality entertainment.
A few recommendations, particularly at night, reef early, balance the sail plan. If you have an inner forestay, use it. Start slowing down over 10 knots to windward. Never trust mooring balls over 25 knots. Replace the raw water impellers, clear the raw water skin fitting and screen, flush the heat exchangers and replace the engine heat exchanger anodes. Make sure skin fitting valves are free and clear, all engine hoses are double clamped. Spares for EVERY THING.
Im slowly being converted to your way of thinking on Outremers. I want to be able to sail upwind and have daggerboards and it seems like this is the best boat for that compared to a Lagoon/Leopard/Privilege
Light breeze sailing is the best, that is why performance cats were better IMO. Gliding quietly through the water in 5-10 knots of breeze, going as fast as you would with motors, is thee best sailing sailing. No wasting money on diesel, no smell, no noise, no vibrations. Daggers also have the possible advantage of shallow draft for better anchoring options.
You're never going to hear us bashing any of those boats. They are built for a purpose and price point and they do what they do very well. And many many many of them have crossed oceans. For us though, our priorities have changed, and a more performance oriented boat is in order to meet our goals. Yes, daggerboards allow better sailing close to the wind, but that is just one aspect of what makes a good ocean-crossing boat...also critical are hull shape, weight distribution, sail handling, light air performance, stiffness, etc., etc. I could write a book on this topic, but instead will save it for the videos. Cheers!
we traveled to Wisconsinthis fall for our boat and wasn't till we got back to Oregon that we truly got to enjoy the fall leaves this year< so spectacular
Ha great stuff guys, you have finally fallen on your feet with a boat! I'm so excited for you both and am really looking forward to seeing you on the outremer and following your adventures. Good luck!
Excited for your new journey! Those of us who are sailors but not content creators would like to know what foul weather gear you got more than the camera and audio gear. :)
Just really happy for you guys and glad you had to return to the US for legal reasons yet were able to connect with family while there. Looking forward to the new adventure of learning to sail your new boat.

Fix your eyes by eye exercises. Palming massage to stimulate blood flow. Myopia, Read with the strong eye closed with text in the distance (eg on TV) just out of focus. Myopia can just be muscles that have weakened too much and lost the ability to focus the eye.
It's just an Outremer. What could go wrong? Practice your med mooring in good weather several times before you try a cross wind. Souda Bay in Crete is wonderful in the winter. Have fun.
I’m taking notes for all the tech stuff because I’m beginning to run into issues with slow editing as my files get bigger and longer. Your cameras are *amazing*
Sitting in my house in VA just wishing I was sailing a catamaran. Guess I have to learn to sail first. Been watching you guys for a few years now. As always, I enjoyed the show. Thanks.
Schengen is a town in which the treaty was signed that now carries its name. It is that part of Europe, i.e. an area, in which you can travel without borders once you have entered it. The UK famously never joined it, for example.
Aaaaaahhhhh can’t wait for the cruising again!! Although I have really enjoyed the journey off the boat , it’s been nice to see the adventures. Good luck and fair winds 🤘😎
Thank you, so happy you’ve enjoyed the journey along with us - what a nail biter! We have a saying that goes back 23 years and rings true to this day, “we don’t know what’s going to happen next, but it’s going to be way better than we could have ever predicted!”
@TheOKellys - The most heartfelt congratulations on finding yourselves in a ‘Big Boat’ performance cruising catamaran! …ON SAFETY… My advice to you (I was a pro sailor/sailmaker, multihull’er for 35 years), when you are doing high teens and low twenties on a close reach or lower to the wind…when you come into a puff (more wind pressure) as the boat starts to load up and accelerate, your first tendency (mono-hull think) might be to head up toward the wind to unload the sails. In a big enough puff this will loose you rudder authority (imagine entering VMC or flat spin in a twin engine aircraft) and turn the boat turtle! Please don’t do that! Lol. Instead turn down away from the wind (performance catamaran think) and burn off the potential energy loading up the sails, rig, and hulls. The result will be increased boat speed and complete rudder authority!! AKA control of the boat. That’s the best big-air advice that I can give you two. There are many an upside-down newbie to perf-cat sailing that may have died for this advise… Happy and safe sailing you O’Kelly’s, you!!! Enjoy the new boat.
Thank you and Happy Holidays wishes from Friday Harbor, regardless of where you are celebrating them. One of the things that have made Ourtremer suceesful is their willingness to look forward and explore new ideas for presenting their product. Their partnering with you is an outstanding bit of marketing to the growing world of RUclips entertainment. They couldn't have found better partners than you.
Fantastic, you have made Outremer, the ultimate company, as You represent as Diplomats of the ultimate cats, you have Been thought by your friends in SAN Diego, What it tales to handle One, so after Clarity, i know you are up to this, from all, love your story, carry on as the Brits say, Love from Norway
I can't put a finger to why, but it still feels surreal. I feel like I am waiting for the other shoe to drop even though I am not involved. or, fall apart sneaker might be more apropos ; ) It won't really settle in until the dock lines have been cast and you've been in it for a while. Looking forward to the next chapter.

…ON SAFETY…
My advice to you (I was a pro sailor/sailmaker, multihull’er for 35 years), when you are doing high teens and low twenties on a close reach or lower to the wind…when you come into a puff (more wind pressure) as the boat starts to load up and accelerate, your first tendency (mono-hull think) might be to head up toward the wind to unload the sails.
There are many an upside-down newbie to perf-cat sailing that may have died for this advise…
Happy and safe sailing you O’Kelly’s, you!!! Enjoy the new boat.
Thanks for the tip. Really got to "know your out" from 120 to 140. We plan on taking baby steps for sure.
Now, off you go

I think the glasses look great on you Nick. They make you more serious. It's a good thing.
I can't put a finger to why, but it still feels surreal. I feel like I am waiting for the other shoe to drop even though I am not involved. or, fall apart sneaker might be more apropos ; )
It won't really settle in until the dock lines have been cast and you've been in it for a while. Looking forward to the next chapter.
