This is our latest studio recording of On Christ the Solid Rock I Stand (feat. Lavi and Travis McCoy)!
This song means more to us now than it has at any other point in our life. It is so clear that there isn't anything in this world as reliable and faithful as Jesus our resurrected Savior. His victory over our sins and death proves that He alone is our solid rock to stand on. All other ground is sinking sand. Family, relationships, our jobs, political affiliations, honors, degrees, kind deeds, the news, wealth, government, entertainment and pleasure, success, the following after our own feelings and ambitions - it's all sinking sand apart from knowing the Jesus who is eternally faithful to those who love Him.
These are the words of Jesus in Luke 21:29-36 (NIV) “Look at the fig tree and all the trees. When they sprout leaves, you can see for yourselves and know that summer is near. Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that the kingdom of God is near.
“Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
“Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”
We are all so distracted by what this modern world offers us, but we can only stand before Jesus the "Son of Man" when our days here come to an end by standing on His shoulders. Trusting by faith in His life, death, burial, and resurrection, and committing to live, with the help of the Holy Spirit, a life submitted to Him is our only remedy.
Here is another scripture from Paul the Apostle that reveals this. Romans 5:1-11 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we boast in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.
You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to die. But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Not only is this so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received reconciliation.
