Why the fuck does it have to "search for disks"? Does it have to scan every single byte of the address space? In the time it takes for that, the old installer could already be already installing
You'd be suprised that there is actully a live desktop behind the setup wizard, it's just really tricky to get to it. Someone demonstrated that in a video but I forgot what it was called.
@progamer3000-uz7pj yeah, but in a way, it makes sense that they're trying to update it considering for about 17 years, the Windows installer was the exact same nut with a different background but we've been using the Windows Vista installer for 17 years.
Yeap that is Microsoft for you but compare this half ass crap to the new Ubuntu installer that Canonical made back in 23.10 and is improving in 24.04 LTS its also modern and you can boot on the desktop and fire off a browser without needing to install it the installer is also using flutter UI, while we have Microsoft back here in Dumb Dinosaur land lol.

Why did they make the Installer ugly?
They wanted it to look modern yet the theme is the Windows 7 and Vista basic theme. A very imperfect combination of old and new.
