    I jump when i do my burpees, to add explosiveness. I do them in sets of 20, with 20 pushups. So 20 burpees, 20 pushups, = 1 set

    • @Pushment
      @Pushment  Год назад

      Great, thanks for sharing!

    • @Rai_S82
      @Rai_S82 Год назад +5

      Same! I thought the jump at the end had to be included to make it a proper burpee - that's how I was taught to do them at school many moons ago.

    • @Pushment
      @Pushment  Год назад +9

      @@Rai_S82 thanks for sharing. The original Burpee does not even include a push-up. However there are many variations and a jump is indeed increasing the physical effort. I followed Ironwolfs method with a 6 ct Burpee to unload joints an back. After 50-70 Burpees people don’t do the Burpee clean anymore and dynamic loads with jumping can cause serious injuries. It depends on the level of proficiency. I started slowly and it felt right to keep good form:)

    I've know burpees as having to do a jump at the end landing in a dampened fall and doing a squad into the next pushup, is that a different kind of burpee or who is doing what here

    • @Pushment
      @Pushment  9 месяцев назад

      Yeah that is one form. The original burpee does not even incorporate the push up. I’ve skipped the jump to maintain good form throughout those demanding 100 rep sets;)

      Valid question and it took me a while to actually figure it out. You do it to set a constant pace throughout your routine. You avoid speeding up too much as you always have to implement the move. I’m the other side you contract your belly and hit it. It activates your core muscles additionally and strengthens on top;)

    Burpees are surprisingly body transformative..as well as cardio fitness boosters! Ive been doing 100 a day for the last 2 weeks...sometimes I do 100 a day all in one go..but more often I either perform 10 every minute on the minute for 10 mins..or just do sets of 10 throughout the day (some fast, some deliberately slow to increase time under tension). I know opinions differ on this, but I add either a little jump at the end of mine or a stretch of the arms overhead. My best effort is 100 in 6' 34"..which amazed me! (I'm 64).

    Why not jump?

    • @Pushment
      @Pushment  6 месяцев назад

      In this case as I did 100 in a row without stopping I wanted to keep good form. At rep 70 you tend to lose control and thus jumping increases the risk of injuries on joints. Especially when starting with it you need to be cautious and first make your body getting used to it. It is exhausting enough, trust me!

    You've gotta JUMP up at the end when you stand. That a complete burpee.

    • @Pushment
      @Pushment  Год назад +3

      I understand your perspective. While adding a jump at the end of a burpee is a common variation and can make it more challenging, it's essential to recognize that there are different interpretations and variations of burpees. Some include the jump, while others do not. What's most important is performing the version of burpees that aligns with your fitness goals and abilities while maintaining proper form and ensuring your safety during the exercise. There's no one-size-fits-all approach when it comes to fitness, so it's essential to find what works best for you.

    Are these a good idea for someone who’s a bit skinnier? I’ve been doing burpee’s/calisthenics, but I have trouble gaining weight (6ft, 145lbs). Any tips?

    • @Pushment
      @Pushment  9 месяцев назад

      Yes, definitely! If you want to gain some serious muscles you'll have to add weights into your training, but the right nutrition is also crucial. Maybe you just give it a try and run this training for a while in order to see if it is worth it. Bulking up is probably not possible.

    I don't want to brag, but these are no Burpees to me. Burpee means, you do a push up and then you jump up. Both Push Up and Jumping - at least for my understanding! - have to be done by full power.
    It is like doing Push ups an your knees instrad of your feet, you just skip about the half of the excercise.
    When it comes to Burpees in the way i described them, my record of doing 100 is nearby 08:40. Never came to close to this for month (don't know why) but maybe it is a reference for some of you.

    • @jakemccoy
