- Throwing a cast net can be a very good skill to learn if you are trying to catch bait! In this video we show you guys two of the main methods that we use to obtain our bait 🐟 We usually like to throw a cast net on pilchards, mullet or ballyhoo at the reef 🥞 We also love pinfish so we set our pinfish trap on the Gulf side in the Florida Keys with a block of chum in hopes of catching some pinfish! Whether its pinfish, ballyhoo, or mullet it's always great to have live bait with you before going to your fishing spot! 🎣 🚩🚩

lol that's genius!
@@GaleForceTwins I know I pay her brother in ice cream to mow my yard and do my dishes lol I think I sent a video of her throwing a net on Instagram
@@brandonmann4652 you should upload one to here. That would be very interesting to see
Nice idea
@@johncuervo3019kinda creepy ngl
Very beautiful this place where you are fishing, Congratulations you caught big fish on the hook.
Remember here where I fish in Brazil.👍🎣😉
That's alot to remember . You two must have had alot of practice. Very informative though. Well explained !!
Thank you!!
I wish you both very successful careers as captains and I am confident you will do very well. I enjoy your enthusiasm and having fished my whole life I share in that passion and enthusiasm to catch the next fish of a lifetime!!
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching! More to come! 🐟🐠😊
IT LOOKS THAT IT WAS A BIT

Man I miss that place... cant wait until August
Ok after much practice and rewatching y’all’s content I can sometimes throw my cast net in the back yard
Bro! This takes some work (practice)! The ladies actually do a Great job of conveying "one" technique. Start with a 6 foot net! This young lady is throwing a monster net compared to us 'amateurs'. Seriously, she makes it look EZ, it's not. It's (remember this!) "IT'S ALL IN THE SPIN!" Your dominent hand throws the net "over" you other hand HAS to remember to throw "under". SPIN! Practice with a small net, and spin. I'm up to say 50% decent net throw. 6th net throw last Wednesday, hit 60 pilchards... used Every Single Bait!!l Caught 30 plus fish. You GOT this bro. Tight lines.
It’s a lot harder on flat than if you’re elevated like from a boat or some rocks.
I love you guys sooo much! Keep up the incredible work!💗
Thank you so much!
I cant believe you guys actually replied!! Thank you so much!!

Thank you for this! Never saw this technique shown so clearly, much appreciated!
Great throw Amanda, also nice load, your to awesome!!🎣😎👍
Hi Gale Force Twins. We go on holidays to Marathon for fishing. I think I might have seen you in Bahia Honda. We went in for lunch and you were cleaning fish at the end of the dock. I wasn't aware of your youtube channel at the time but i remember thinking for a boat with fish in it yours was one of the cleanest I've seen. We set pin fish traps on the gulf side and have found that the orientation of the trap doors is important. We use the 2 door type and like the doors facing the flow of the tide ie one facing ocean side and one facing gulf side.
Thank you!! We like to keep our boat nice and clean 😊 that’s definitely true for the traps!
We don't really use chum in Texas, how much does that block cost and how long will it last?
It’s gone by the time we pull it so less then 12 hours. We buy a whole case for around $40
@@GaleForceTwins Oh that's not too bad then.
Love the videos as always any advice for some one new to the charter biz
recently got myself a cast net and did some few practice casting and after making several bad casts it made it easy for me to understand how to throw the net properly. did get a few good circles but need more practice b4 using it on the water haha personally i prefer catching livebait with sabiki but the cast net is me trying something different and learning something on the way. the cast net really does strain the arm! just really hope the cast net will make some differences on getting those livebaits!
It will definitely help when there is a lot of bait and you can catch a lot at one time!
just watched the video with you guys saying how barracuda have a toxin called Ciguatera and then deermeatfordinner posts a video filleting/eating one lol
That’s funny. People definitely do eat them! If you are going to eat one make sure it’s not too big! We just don’t want to risk it
You gals are on it! Thanks, I was just looking for a cast net video. In Hawaii, the eyes can't be smaller than 2 in. What's the Florida laws on net eye size? You're good teachers. Tightlines!
Thank you!! I’m glad you found it helpful 😊
Good video guys
Awesome video. Up here in the panhandle we use fried chicken for bait. Works better then anything else i have tried. Keep the great videos coming. Yall are awesome
Thanks for watching 😊🐟
What boat is that??
23’ Cobia!
Love from me and my twin brother ✌️ ❤️
Hi, where do I buy a trap like yours? I looked at Amazon and Cudjoe Sales and didn't see one with 4 sides like yours and accommodates a chum block in the middle. Thank you.
You can buy them down in the keys at most local tackle stores! If not, the two hole will work just fine. I would definitely make sure you get one with a spot for a block of chum.
Once again great video Captains, always very informative, thorough and entertaining. I look forward to your next post. Keep up the great work. Oh when Amanda said she likes to think that she's in the net on her setup. I thought to myself great catch..😂 sorry I had to throw that out there.
Thank you!!
@@GaleForceTwins you are very welcome!!
Hahah I could never get that cast net throw ! Great job ladies
Also Deermeatfordinner does an amazing cast net tutorial also, that’s how I learned, but you all should do a video together!! He’s in Jupiter fla. DMFD is an amazing man!
Funny you said this because I was thinking the same thing. I like watching these girls more but he would definitely help their channel grow.
If you share this video on one of dfm videos then I'll do the same
he's pretty amazing....when not showing 'all his expensive stuff' lol
So we got a boat in Naples,I’m just wondering if you can catch ballyhoo off from Naples?Florida Naples
Haha I could never throw a cast net ! Y’all make it look easy !!
You made Cast net throw too difficult 😅

Nice technique but I think if you grab the net further up than the thigh area that you have been grabbing it at , like waist or belly button height , that way you get more swinging action from net to build up momentum for the net to get a full open spread but I haven't tried your technique yet so I could be wrong . All this is for getting the full spread of net , if that's important , which I see you do catch fish so maybe you should just keep doing what you have been doing . I don't get full spread with my quick throw technique but I am ok with that .
Thanks you guys. Your awesome. Oh I did see the anchor video you guys did with the anchor ball and ring that was awesome too...
What is Your into song called
Do you guys do guide trips? I have a neice that loves to fish and i took her and her friend on their first fishing trip in Fort Myers last week when we were there on vacation. I think it would be great for her to go on a guide trip with a female captain.
Red clay from the baseball fields scoop of that thing of cat food dry or wet catfish bait magic catfish bait don't worry the smellier it is the better the shrimp like it the better the crabs like it parts of chicken wings or fish heads or fish fish skulls or good fresh barracuda while he's work use fish heads and fishtails that's all I use fish heads Chum for a trap or rock shrimp 100 ft of water
This may sound stupid but how do you know if you’re a left or a right thrower
Definitely not weird. I struggle with that sometimes myself since I’m left handed with some activities but right handed with others. When I go to do a sport I don’t do often I usually just try both or pick one and make an effort to stick to it 😅 -Emily (the lefty)
Gale Force Twins yes that’s me I use both hand Equally so it’s hard for me Especially when it comes to bow hunting
I need to get better lol, I put my pinfish trap in Pine channel between Big pine and Little torch and only got like 4 baby pin fish and a couple baby yellow tail.
madcane19 that’s surprising, I’d just keep trying different areas and don’t put it out just before sunset, sometimes I think they don’t bite well at dark
@@GaleForceTwins lol, lesson learned, I did drop it in the evening and then pulled it early the next morning on my way out.
madcane19 we have had some success doing that but it seems to best to put it out the morning before :)

Is this a friend's boat? or do you have 2 boats?
THAT'S COMPLICATED THE WAY YOU GET THAT NET READY, I KNOW FOR A FACT THERE'S AN EASIER WAY
That was awesome ladies! Thank you for explaining the triple load method so well!
use smaller net 5feet net land net fly fish nail nows fish small case net 100 feet done light night time chum water up pine fish mullet keep dig pine fish dig mullet fish note fish xoxo like it
What size cast net would you recommend for someone starting out?
Probably 6’ or 8’! Once you learn to throw it a 6’ will feel small

@@GaleForceTwins I'm 6 feet tall so maybe I could start with a 8 foot net. Thanks!
some 40 yrs ago dad had a problem with a game warden stealing his traps on the indian river around new symirna beach, he got him on camera. boy was that a day
What fish will normally eat the pin fish??
We catch everything on pinfish! Mangrove snapper, groupers, tarpon and evening mahi offshore!

Another great video thank you ladies
Emily you did a great job throwing the cast net.
Thank you!!
Fishin ladies and dirt bike ladies always steal my heart.
The cast ner didn't open well because the session on your shoulder you charged too much should be less net
Is that a new boat?
Rocks&Reels no it’s a 23’ cobia, it’s a family members boat
When are you gonna do a video of throwing a net from the new 33 invincible?
West side of mayo key has a ton of pin fish
Yes!!
You just made throwing a cast net the most confusing thing on earth would need a 8-hour course on that
Ha Ha.. That's Funny.!!
Don't forget now; she's only 5'4" .. and some things just aren't as simple as it might be for a taller person.
You're right though she was very through and gave all the information anyone would ever need to know to through a 10ft. cast net...
I like your net!!! What is the brand? Thank you!!!
Well done. Great Video 👍🐟👍
I must watch at least 40 more time's how to drop cast net THX
I always throw the half moon.😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
How often might you guess that someone helps themselves to your pinfish?
Mike A our buoy is pretty small and hard to find so we don’t have a problem. It happens more often to our stone crab traps
Thanks girls, I learned something new again!
Hi from Turkey. Thanks alot.
Great instructional video

Superb instructions.
Glad it was helpful! More to come! Thank you for watching 🐠 😄
Excellent informational video! Badass throw of castnet. Just subscribed. Thanks!
There are much easier ways to throw a cast net that size.
Hi Captain Emily and Captain Amanda Gale.
Great video! How do you know what size openings net to buy for which bait? Is there a good universal size? I’ve heard 3/4 ten foot nets are good for finger mullet? Would that work for pin fish? Thank you!
👍👍👍
you are pretty and tough anglers I like your vedio......
Nice technique but I think if you grab the net further up than the thigh area that you have been grabbing it at , like waist or belly button height , you'll get more swinging action from net to build up momentum for the net to get a full open spread but I haven't tried your technique yet so I could be wrong . crazy hard
There is such an easier way to throw than that
Great video, but you need to "STUDY" the castnet throw videos from Lunkerdog Capt. Jeff. It's also much faster to prep for multiple throws if need be.
ALSO, when you set the opening for the pinfish trap, set the opening at a slight angle, of 20 degrees or so. With the opening being straight up and down it makes it easier for them to work there way back out of the trap. The angle won't affect them on the way in cause they just slide right through, but it makes it more difficult for them to maneuver and line up when trying to get out of the trap.
Hi!! My dad and I watched your video! And were wondering where you got your pin fish trap? We bought one, but the chum area is far too small on ours, and yours looks perfect! Let me know! Thanks!!
Throw nets are the reason god invented bait shops.... Nice explanation. Good step-by-step tutorial.
Emily the pole vaulter...
Nise video 😍
That's like the 3D Chess method of throwing a cast net... Well done, I wish I was better at throwing cast nets.
Maybe next time use a bag with your chum. It will keep the chum concentrated in the trap and not let all of it wash away! When it washes away there is no reason for the pinfish to go in they can just wait for the chum to flow through!
just a little pointer to help you open your net better, when you load the first part don't load so much of the net over your shoulder. Fan It only two times and throw that over your shoulder, if you re-watch your video right at 9:51 you can see the part fly off your shoulder and doesn't open up as much because it has too much weight. Just a helpful tip!
Love this technique. Most vids you see people doing the lead line in teeth method. 2 reasons I refuse to throw like that: 1. it's disgusting 2. I don't like ripping teeth out.
thanks captains for this different kind of video, setting up pinfish bait and castanets large net.
i have tried to throw larger nets with dividing into 3 sections, but i always mess it up.
i can throw up to an 8 ft net by dividing in two.
would that work also for a 10 foot net?
thanks
john
Thank you capitanas! I am thibking to preparé a bait trap like that one, also I will try to use your method for cast the net, so far I have never never done.
What brand of net is that?
🥰🥰🥰
Bait nets are always harder to throw, but for your size I think that it probably the best technique to conserve energy. 👍
Good job Capt
You guys are awesome , enjoyed this video a lot , very informative , #AFANALWAYS
Very thorough directions on throwing a net. Well done👍👍👍
Great technique for people new to cast netting I just divide the net use my teeth ans heave ho
Wow ! That's a lot to remember but practice makes perfect !!
Both of you deserve like and subscribe ,I did both
Great video 📹 👍 👏. Thank you!!!
It was very helpful to be walked through this process!!! Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
I always thought you both were 5'11" ish
Best video I have seen for throwing a large cast net.
This is the best net casting video that I have seen. Thanks !!!
