Mistake: Mont-Saint-Michel in France is not a castle but fortified abbey, monastery
And Neuschwanstein is not nice castle but newage kitch. Where is Raglan? Where is Bran? Where is Corvin? Malbork? Trakai? Peirrefonds? But for Neuschwanstein is there place and for St.Michel too, despite it is not castle. ....stupid video.
@@KaelSvalcembelk They never visited any of these places I guess. The video has been made by copy / paste. Useless
I love castles...all castles! They connect us...by heart and soul.
Segovia Spain is amazing!
Wow awesome amazing you have a New subscriber 👍👍👍
Marvellous...Nice video, thanks.🥰👏
If only the walls could talk. What a tale they would tell. Wonderful history
THANK YOU FOR SHARING
En mi opinión, una visión muy particular. Hay castillos en el mundo mucho más imponentes y maravillosos que muchos de esos que pusieron. Sin ir más lejos, el Castillo de Coca, el de Mota o el de Loarre, en España, entre otros muchos.
I wouldn´t really consider numbers 5, 6, 8 and 9 "castles", even if they name themselves so.. They are palaces.
Number 8, Windsor Castle, is both an actual castle and a palace. It’s a historical Norman motte-and-bailey castle that has evolved continuously for 10 centuries. It lost a lot of its fortifications as the castle no longer needed them, especially in more modern times, so now it’s sort of a hybrid between a castle and a palace.
Number 1 is a fortified Abbey, and by your definition Neuschwanstein is a palace, too. It was build as a palace for Ludwig II. of Bavaria, but only on the fundaments of the ruins of a castle from the Middle Ages.
Neuschwanstein is not a castle either. It's what's called a schloss. It's a 19th century palace, It takes inspiration from the Chateau de Pierrefonds and it's not considered a castle.
I just love castles so much.i can't get enough of them
@Cymro 65 I wished I could. I just don't have that kind of money.
Sólo alguien con muy poca cultura dejaría fuera del reportaje a España(más de 2000 castillos censados) o a Portugal que tienes varios castillos bellísimos.
I've been to quite a few of these castles since I have traveled the whole world at many times. I would like to go back to some of these places and see them again! Beautiful and luxurious as they
are we must remember that our Forefathers came from these lands and we must respect and take care of them for future generations to come. Thanks to God for the beautiful surroundings He
gave to us for beauty!

Here I don´t see castles of Spain. I can see only one castle and in Spain there are many castles and they are amazing like Coca, Almodovar, etc etc etc
Pedro Go Alcazar!!
Extremely Beautiful castles!!!
The Number 3 the most beautiful castle I believe should be Slovak Castle Bojnice and # 8 Spis Castle(Ruins)
Lovely. Very peaceful.
What about China, Japan, Russia, Thailand and India? They got some beautiful castles
True, I love the unique design of Japanese castles.
Or Mehrangarh in Jodhpur ……
I love the history and culture of Spain.. 🇮🇪 ☘️🇪🇸

SLOVENIJA ❤️🇸🇮👍
They're all beautiful.
In school we are making projects of castles thank u for ur advise
Should've had Eltz Castle in Germany on this list. It has that fairy tale quality but unlike Neuschwanstein, it's real.
Huge and beautiful
Hunyadi Castle? Peles Castle? Barn Castle?
coco latte
Burg Hohenzollern?
Where is Malbork?
Gotta love a good castle. We are visiting and making films about lots of them in Wales this year. Lots of fun. 🙂
Gerente I canto ser castles from Portugal, and there are many much more beautiful than what you shows.
that's a weird list, many castles are way more beautiful than the mentioned ones apart 1 and 2 and next time you make a Top 10 list, start with the 10 and move upwards, it's more exciting =)
Yes. Bigger, more luxurious, more ornate, and yes even more beautiful.
I love em all maybe you can make a part 3
Castle Neunschwanstein should be no.1 !
Its so Beautiful 😍
Beautiful? Neuschwanstein is kitch and is a mistake in this top ten. There are many better castles in Europe: Malbork i Poland, Trakai in Lietuva, Rhaglan in GB, Corvin in Romania, Vianden in Luxemburg, ..... and many many better castles then Neuschwanstein.
@@KaelSvalcembelk ... Eltz in Germany, Chillon in Switzerland, Eilean Donan in Scotland, Himeji in Japan... there really are many better candidates than Neuschwanstein.
Undoubtedly, the most beautiful, elegant and "castle-esque" is the Alcazar of Segovia, Spain. No wonder, it is in Castilla, the land of the castles. By the way, this one inspired Walt Disney's Cinderella Castle.
I'm pretty sure the inspiration for the Disney castle goes to Neuschwanstein (number 2 on this list).
the marlbork and wawel
piotr filip hell ye ive been there
The French castles (Chateaux) of Blois, Chenonceau, Chambord and Chaumont are all far more prettier than the Prague castle or Hohensalxburg much less Mont St Michel which is not a castle but an Abbey on top of a hill...What about Fontainebleau or Versailles, or even the Louvre or Chantilly...known for beauty inside, outside, furnishings and gardens.
In a more" medieval-romantic" vibe, in France I like Kœnigsbourg castle and Pierrefonds castle.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_du_Haut-K%C5%93nigsbourg
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ch%C3%A2teau_de_Pierrefonds
Though many castles are beautiful in all of Europe.
Versailles is a palace not a castle
louvre is even less castle as mont st michel... neither is newscweinsten a castle
Hi Kevin, yes, indeed... And of course, Loire Valley ... ruclips.net/video/kCUJf7Qi_Y8/видео.html
@@jebise1126 It all depends what you call a Castle! Louvre is one of the oldest Castles in Paris, it just evolved through time so that it lost its Medieval attributes
We have some beautiful castles in Ireland 👍
Lots to be considered, not the worst list.
Why didnt u include Dunrobin Castle in Scotland. U didnt do any from there.
I've been to 2--Segovia and Prague
In France, I believe Chambord is more beautiful that the abbey of Mont St Michel. Also one could argue Versailles or Chenonceaux castle are more beautifull
They might be called chateaus but very few people would class them as castles. From what I can tell, none of them have any defensive value whatsoever, mont st michel on the other hand could be considered a castle, as it is both a residence (for the monks) and has strong walls and defences of a military nature.
@@timjones2329 if you consider a castle a military feature, then there are other features in france that are more that mont saint michel. fro a fortified city, look at carcassone or some Vauban fortified cities (Neuf Brisach for exanple). for a defensive castle, look at Ortenbourg, les Beaux de provence, Queribus, the Vauban fortresses in the alps like Briancon or Belfort fortress
Neuschwanstein is most Beautiful 😍
Only Conwy and Bodiam are actually castles. Conwy is an impressive and intimidating fortress, but I wouldn't say that it is beautiful. Bodiam was kind of a pleasure palace of its time, but it also had genuine defences, so I think it belongs on your list. However, all of the others are really stretching the definition of what a castle is and a lot of them don't have visible medieval work, Windsor being a prime example. Nearly all the castle was refaced in Victorian times; it bears little resemblance to how it was in medieval times.
I think one that would fit the beautiful but intimidating look best is warwick. its presence is shown and when you first see it over the bridge a bit away from it you really do get shivers from how powerful and big it looks. it also looks graceful and elegant too. its a triumph its survived from all what its been through compared to its more powerful brother Kenilworth. I would say Kenilworth would have been amazing had it not been ruined by the stupid parliamentarians. now you just feel pity for it.
Oh, someone who knows what a real castle is (as opposed to the popular "mock castles" of the 19th century, though they are beautiful).
Edinburgh, Stirling, Harlech?
Like 104, very god video
amazing
Arundel in Chichester and Warwick are top ten
tried looking for the song, need more info .....plz! it sounds so amazing I must learn how to play it
Shazam says that the song is : "The gentle sound of rain - The peace deep within".
Where is Peles Castle -Romania? That castle is very beautiful!
My home is my castle and no. 1...(:-))))....
you mean beautiful in Europe.
Simplemente un reportaje hecho por un britanico
possibly true, but who cares? There are many beautiful castles he did not include, i doubt it has anything to do with nationality
Some of these seem more like manor houses.
I love you I'll be the princess someday
Most of these castels looks like a prison OUTSIDE...🌍
Belgium has loads of better castles to choose from, it is the country with the most castles per capita
for instance you litterally have the castle of the counts that is still standing in the center of Ghent
there are tons of neo gothic examples that are still pristine
there are ruins that inspire and modern structures that combine the best aspects of them
Miranda castle I hadn't even heard off
that being said it certainly deserves to be restored
Neuschwanstein castle isn't a castle as a castle is a fortified structure that is also a lordly residence and neuschwanstein is not fortified.
Good
Master builders
You forgot about the Asian castles. They are much more beautiful.
YOU HAVE TO VISIT POLAND AFTER CORONAVIRUS. LOOK ON RUclips; 1. MOSZNA CASTL, 2. CZOCHA CASTL, 3. KSIĄŻ CASTL, 4. MALBORK CASTL, 5. GOŁUCHÓW CASTL, 6. LUBLIN CASTL, 7. ŁAŃCUT CASTL, 8. KRASICZYN CASTL, 9. WAWEL CASTL, 10. BARANÓW SANDOMIERSKI CASTL
Where is the Alambra of Granada?
The world's paradise
Le Mont Saint-Michel is not a castle,, but an abbey church erected in honor of the Archangel Saint Michael.
Peles Castle should of made this list.
No Tower of London ?
The Gravensteen (Dutch; literally "Castle of the Counts") is 10 times more beautiful then that ruined castle in Belgium you show . en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gravensteen
How about Chambord (which was actually a "hunting lodge" for the kings of France...but what a "castle" it is! And what about Chenonceaux? Perhaps the most romantic castle.
Yes, both beautiful castles but are not on this list.
Легендарная Киликия анемур Арарата

Im just because of Hogwarts
Because of how different many places were as well as their function,
you have a very messy Venn diagram.
Monastery, Manor, Castle, Palace ...
rhodes castle?
I mean part 2
Malbork and Huneduara for example is much more beautiful than any English castle.
I wouldn't´t even call those palaces a castles.. Pick any German or French castle over them.
England's castles look real. Huneduara looks like a fake castle.
Tig But it’s real
Peleș from Romania is wonderful.
Castles or Palaces without Portugal and SPAIN ?
In Portugal Paço dos Duques, Paço de Vila Viçosa, Palácio da Pena, Castelo de Óbidos, Castelo de GUIMARÃES, and ao many others...
Hélder Jacinto SALDANHA | LICONFE SA Alcazar!!
I've learned a lot about castles in recent years, and one of the things that massively annoys me is how many structures get referred to as castles when, at least in their current form, they don't really have the features of a castle. If it has the superficial features of a castle (like battlements) people will call it a castle, even if those features are "mock" and not at all functional. It also kind of saddens me how many actual castles get converted into pure homes (with no defensive intent). So you have a "castle" with windows at head level, which is absolutely not something you'd get in a medieval castle. Then there's building like 3:14 where I have no idea why you'd refer to this as a castle, when it looks like it was built as a manor, and not even a fortified one
If they were not converted to a residential use, they would likely fall into ruin and be lost over time as locals use the crumbling stonework for their own construction. This is fine, I love ruined castles and we have many in the UK. However the ones that are still lived in by the original families and are looked after and preserved are very impressive in their own right. Windsor is a good example of one that retains many original features whilst adapting to a different need.
@@timjones2329 I feel kind of torn about it. I agree with you, and I kind of like the idea of a structure constantly being used as it was intended instead of just being turned into museum (definitely more than it just being left to rot) - but when following modifications obscure earlier features, it's a tragedy imo. To use Windsor as an example; the history of that castle goes back to the 1200's I believe - but good luck seeing anything from those periods. I believe a huge amount of modern day Windsor is from the 19th century. I honestly struggle to call it a castle
It kind of a tough question that depends on what features you're referring to. Neuschwanstein is a 'mock' castle but routinely makes these lists. Another commenter on here was saying Mont Saint Michel shouldn't be on the list because it's a fortified monastery, not a castle. I would argue that it is a castle because of the fortified part. But then, do we also include fortified towns and cities? What about artillery forts from later eras?
Mysore palace?

Neuschwanstein should be at 1!

many of thse aren't castles at all or haven't been for a long time though.
This list has a European bias -there are so many incredible castles in India -also in the Middle east -some built by Crusaders.
It's just semantics, what is a castle according to you?
Strictly speaking: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castle
It's more European because it's a concept that was more popular in Europe. That being said, some other feudal cultures with a decentralized power such as Japan also developed a liking to castles (a "private fortified residence", well in principle only since this video show a lot of palaces actually...).
its a concept not more popular in europe. thats just a misconception you are repeating which is why its annoying that the list only features european castles
It also has a western European bias. There are beautiful castles in Poland, Denmark, Italy, Slovakia, Turkey, but also Japan, Syria etc.
@@yarmo28, Denmark and Italy are western Europe
They aren't castles there my houses
When creating a video such as this, it is perhaps prudent to first of all define your interpretation of 'castle' and 'beautiful'. Simply defining it as 'My 10 Most Beautiful Castles In the World' would be fine as it would be clearly your preference and would therefore not be wrong. Not there are correct answers to a list like this in the first place.
For a Welshman, the castles of Edward Ist are impressive and often architecturally beautiful or as with Conwy, the presence of the castle has aided in beautifying the small coastal town. However, these castles are not strictly speaking Welsh (although they are considered part of Welsh heritage in the current age) and tell a story of conquest and oppression which are traditionally far from being perceived as 'beautiful'. The 'true' Welsh castles of the same period were built by the Welsh Princes and typically in a squarish style and inland and on highland - much the same as the bulk of Japanese castles of which only the foundations mostly remain. Edward 1st's castles were built along the coast. The most notable of which is Caernarfon, which was influenced by the castle of Constantinople and is still used today for the investiture of the English Prince of Wales as Edward the first had declared it should. It is also perhaps the most beautiful of Edward's castles in architectural terms.
My own personal favourites are Criccieth, Harlech, Caernarfon, Himeji and Matsumoto. Again, all subjective according to my own ideas of what constitutes a castle and what I perceive to be architecturally attractive.
I'm partial to Conwy and Bodiam myself.
Versailles FRANCE most beautiful Castles in the world Chambord
It's not built as a castle but a representative palace !
Where is the Castle of GraySCULL ?
No Edinburgh castle???
Windsor Castle should be number 1.
Ты всё убил своим чёртовым шрифтом .
Where are all the Japanese castles? And the Crusader castles? You have hardly covered "the world".
3 or 4 in Serbia u have ! Kalemegdan Smederevska Niska Petrovac
the Most Beautiful Castle In The World is " le château de Versailles" in France and also the most big
its not castle..its Palace lol
Wheres hogwarts
#'s 1,5,6,8, and 9 arent even true castles. They are "castle like" structures. But yes, #8 Windsor Castle was originaly a castle, but now it is not.
Putting in extra windows does not render Windsor not a castle.
@@timjones2329 it may be a modern castle. But a medieval castle which protects the lands monarch it is not. In fact almost nothing of the original castle other than the land itself remains from the period where it was used as a functioning castle. In fact it's actually just a palace now.

Romania has beautiful castles too but people just stop searching at england
Grow up! Just because your country wasn't featured. England wasn't just featured here, was it? By the way: England's castles look real and something from that time period. Most of your nation's castles look like a fake fairytale.

What a lazily researched list, and entirely limited to the UK & EU too. Worse, many of the selections were never built for nor used as fortresses, and are thus NOT true castles.
