    Great to hear things are progressing in your cert’s. Sounds like you’ll be airborne in no time now!!
    The birds don’t bother me. Kinda adds a good background noise!

    Thanks, Captain. For Uganda, VFR flights can only be operated during day time and are limited to FL 150. Above that, the regulations only permit IFR flights. Secondly, flight plans must be filed for all flights from any Uganda airport. Great video and I look forward to watching more of your Fiji adventures.

    Exciting insights from Captain Nordal! His transition to flying ATRs in Fiji, especially with the challenges of mountain terrain and unique local regulations, sounds thrilling. Loved hearing about the VFR rules and how each country’s regulations differ. Can’t wait to see more updates on his Fiji flights!

    I remember when we were on Hawai'i our cabin didn't have windows either, nor even shutters, but screens. Not that it was completely critter-proof; more than once these little geckos snuck through cracks in the corners and wandered around the upper reaches of the place... cute little guys.
    The most unnerving part was, coming back from the upper part of the area to our cabin, after dark, just enough starlight to see a little, and you hear this rustle in the brush by the side of the trail... and here comes a mama wild pig and about four little ones just trotting across, not a care in the world. I froze in my tracks, because the last thing you want to do is make a mama _anything_ upset with you when her kids are around...
    And then there's Kona International Airport. It only has walls around the restrooms and the restaurant. The rest of the airport is roofed, but otherwise open-air. On the rare occasions when it rains there, if you're too close to the edge of the roof, you're going to get damp. But that's just Island Life...

    I always use and understand term "ICAO license" as acronym for licence more or less compatible with ICAO guidance, EASA PPL for example. Non "ICAO licence" is EASA LAPL as you mention, this is somethink different from world wide standards. If you have licence compatible with ICAO, I expect very little problems with validation nearly everywhere around the globe. LAPL will be different story :). Thanks for video about this, have a nice day.

    I flew the 42 there with some fellow NZ pilots in 2007. The plane,pilots and places were fun. I miss the 42. Enjoy your time there!

    Captain Nordal .. interesting you mention no windows. I think you mean no glazing that you are able to close to keep out the sound? Or perhaps you wouldn't want to close the windows as it would also stop the air circulation? ... Either way, would you mind showing the camera around a bit, next time? What do apartments in Fifi look like, the walks, the shopping and community? ... Would love to have an opportunity to visit Fiji, vicariously through your videos! Thanks!

    Hope you enjoy Fiji captain, nice place with nicer people.
    Take a visit down here to New Zealand one day when you get the chance, Fiji airways flies into to Christchurch then you can take an Air NZ ATR72 to Queenstown... One of the most beautiful places on the planet.
    As a student pilot I love your videos, learn a lot from them. Cheers

    Thank you for your valuable content sir. Can a pilot apply for a job in some country that requires the destination CAA license and then begin the conversation process?

    • @FlywithMagnar
      @FlywithMagnar  День назад

      Yes, you can. In many countries, the conversion process is relatively straightforward. You need to pass a written exam on aviation law and a simulator check. However, other licenses are more challenging to convert. For instance, obtaining an EASA license can take several months.

      He means that there is no glazing in the windows. Very common in tropical zones. I’ve come across this in Malaysia, some parts of India & Caribbean. It’s to provide a natural cooling breeze. In malaria areas, they use mosquito nets around beds and sometimes also in the window frames.

    Hi Captain interesting video! When starting up without GPU, directly from Hotel Mode, do you have to do ATPCS static test on battery power before starting eng 2? Can it be performed with prop brake? In the FCTM I see it should be performed once hotel mode running, but on the QRH it is performed before. Thanks!

    • @FlywithMagnar
      @FlywithMagnar  2 месяца назад +1

      According to FCTM, ATPCS static test can be performed while the engine is running in hotel mode. It does not say "should." So, it is your choice. Normally, we will do this test before starting the engine. But if you are performing a turn-around without shutting down engine #2, you can do the test while running the engine in hotel mode. The only condition is that the power lever must be in GI.

    It always makes me laugh that you could fly into a country as an international flight on your license from the country of origin, but as soon as you want to fly a domestic departure within the destination country you are grounded lol ... ICAO really should issue global licenses, all this current setup does is cost you alot of $$$ as an individual when searching for work aboard.

    • @FlywithMagnar
      @FlywithMagnar  2 месяца назад

      It’s not about the country you’re flying in; it’s about where the aircraft is registered. I’ll be flying planes registered in Fiji, so I need a license issued in Fiji. If the company had registered the aircraft in the UK, I would have needed a license issued by the CAA UK.
