One thing with O'Reilly with the Avs towards the end of his time in Colorado, was the amount of quality 1st and 2nd line centers on the roster. There was O'Reilly, Duchene, MacKinnon, and Stastny on the 2013-14 roster. The Avs had ample centers and needed help in other areas badly so it made sense to trade one of them away to fill in gaps elsewhere. Considering the headache O'Reilly was with his pay demands it made sense for him to be traded away.
Speedy Sphincter I’m giving the Marlins a chance this time around. New ownership means we can’t just assume it will all fail. Plus, their farm system was never this good under Loria.

Really I'm happy to see success for ror as he was the only player who worked everyday during his time in buffalo. We missed out on a gem of a player.
Yes, looking at his history Bergland had been a good 2nd/3rd line player for the Blues with ok offensive numbers, who was defensively responsible. Also, he had suffered a couple of shoulder injuries that had probably hurt his numbers. The only bad thing about him was that he would sometimes loaf through games. I thought he’d be a good player for Buffalo to keep them competitive while their younger players developed. As far as was publicly known Bergland had shown no indication in St. Louis that he was a head case. So, his Buffalo behavior was a complete surprise to this Blues fan.
THG's one who'll man up and admit mistakes and otherwise bad calls: I thought Buffalo got pretty good value overall for O'Reilly considering it was known things weren't good at the time between him and the Sabres (meaning Buffalo was always going to get low-balled a bit) but now it is indeed looking like St. Louis made off like bandits.

But he made up for all of it in the Stanley Cup Final with his 5 goals and 4 assists and becoming the first player since Gretzky to score in 4 straight SCF games. Thank you RoR.
Maybe not blame, exactly. But I saw stuff on message boards wondering where his game was in the early rounds. Especially because his faceoff numbers had dropped big time from what he put up during the season and because he had been the one consistently strong player all year for the Blues. I wondered if he was playing hurt-I suspected a hand injury (but now we learn it was a rib or two). Then he got hot in the Final, and won the Conn Smythe, so any negativity was put to rest.

My bad. I was really young when he played even the Bruins I was bad with names I just went with numbers when I watched them play
I didn't like the offer sheet at the time Jay Feaster offered as it seems too much at the time. Thankfully Colorado matched it. That plus what the Calgary Flames got in return for both Jarome Iginla and Jay Bouwmeester ultimately sealed Jay's fate.
Always found it funny how ROR is or was persona non grata to a lot of "hockey people" because of the offer sheet business, but in Shea Weber's case it is basically like nothing to see here. Guess ROR should start fighting and hacking and slashing a bit more to get those "hockey folk" to start boosting for him because of his "toughness".
He'll probably finish his current contract in STL. After that? Hm, hard to say. Depends on his career and how his body is holding up. The one time you don't is when he suffers a career-ending injury, dies, or, one, or, more, of the throw-in players is a hall-of-famer.
Ryan O’Reilly Robin liener EVander Kane. All were once on the Sabres. All were in the postseason once they left.
Great video
Where did you find that jersey?
Good video
Who did the Sabres get with the draft pick?
Buffalo got 2 draft picks, not just the 1st this year. Believe it's a 2nd round pick in 2020 as well.
This turned out to be as fruitful as Schenn. Last couple big moves have been really good to us. And now that all of their heads are out of their asses and they've all seen what they can do, hopefully we get an interesting run again next year. Not holding my breath for two in a row, but definitely think they can contend again.
They don't have as much cap space as it seems and no reason to make any big acquisitions. They're a solid blue collar team of decently skilled two-way players.
@@thawk1435 They got their one, a lot of teams can't even say that.
The man is a true hockey player
The one penalty he got was playing with a broken stick when he broke it on a face-off
Great player
Kinda difficult to understand the Lady Bing in 2014 with the record O'Reilly had...? 🤔
Wish my Av's could have kept him... of course I wish Quebec/Colorado could have kept Sundin, too.
Are we doing a live stream of the draft
Do one for tarasenko please
🙏🏼🙏🏼🏆
Not much of a story when he's only played for the blues
@@GodWeenSatan He could be going forward.
Future.
Somewhere in an alternate universe O’Rielly captains the Flames to a Stanley Cup
ROR is good at everything.
Yeah when I saw old Montreal video I was like who is this Roy (r-oy) person and then I eventually found out I think either through a hockey guy video or just because I saw it so many times I realized it was (w-a). My bad. I was really young when he played even the Bruins I was bad with names I just went with numbers when I watched them play
They also traded a 2nd for next year
Worth it for the Cup
@@jarink1 Absolutely.
Whoops.
he was in the news for doing something wrong to be fair, drove his pickup into a tim hortons while under the influence
Future hall of famer
GREAT SKATER
Does anyone have the discord link
It's all good guys Buffalo has 9 million dollars invested in Skinner the cup is coming to Buffalo 😂😂
And I’m the owner of bubba gump shrimp
Dreams keep us alive.
@@roccosteo8328 The OP is mistaken.
75 million in 14 years doesn't sound too shabby to me
What does clearing waivers mean
It means every team in the NHL has to pass on claiming the player from you before you can keep them.
@@JustBob-sw4rf Very complicated.
Long process.
Who's this guy "Waivers" that got matched? I need to thank him.
Hahaha!
@@everydaycarry1328 Hilarious.
Please.
Would the avs have made the finals if oreilly was still with them?
Jordan Wolfcastle no
@@Lande_n_w Correct.
Negative.
Million dollar raise would be nice! I wish!
who remember that one penalty?
How long do you think he'll stay in STL?
@ but after the contract is done???
He'll probably finish his current contract in STL. After that? Hm, hard to say. Depends on his career and how his body is holding up. He'll be 32 by then - I could see him staying on short deals after that. Like taking it a year or two at a time. Also, the Blues would be wise to keep him around as long as possible.
@@maplesyrupphilosopher6886 Careers are so unpredictable.
Now you have your answer.
St. Louis Blues just gotten better and Buffalo Sabres getting worster go blues go
I know Col is up in coming....but man if they still had ROR...
You still have twice as many Cups, despite being in Colorado half as long.
We'll find out soon.
Ironically, the Av's are the Av Nots.
Dewey Fosworth ironically, the Avs don’t need ROR anymore.
@@Lande_n_w We'll find out.
They'll always have both 1996, and, 2001.
I just imagined you ending this by looking into the camera saying "Xoxo, Gossip Girl." And I think you need to do that.
Pretty sure ROR doesent even make he playoffs without binnington it’s all about what team your on and he was a no show u TIL the finals he was Their leading scorer when they were
Dead last halfway through the year until
The goalie gave him the chance
Exactly... experience is useless
Lady byng sounds like such a lame trophy to win
This is why hockey fans don't bet in Vegas... Go chiefs!!!
Jay Fister
Mark stone shouldve won easily
I am happy for him, but, tbh I was never a huge fan of his. He always came off as an introvert and greedy to me
