God never changes. His ways never change. There are parallels all throughout the Bible.
In the Hebrew custom, there were always two identical lambs or goats brought for slaughter for the Passover. Only one would be chosen - the pure Lamb. The other was called the scapegoat, because it was set free from death.
In the same way for The Day of Atonement at the time Jesus was on trial, when they were both offered to the people with pretty much identical names, Barabbas (Bar = "Son of" Abbas = "Father"/ "God") was the scapegoat. As only one was offered by Pilot to be set free. Therefore, God chose Jesus Christ to be the pure innocent sacrifice given to God for Passover/ Day of Atonement, for the sins of The whole World. God knew exactly what needed to happen. And it happened exactly as He wanted it too. Praise the Living God for Jesus Christ our Messiah. ❤️

I also heard this interpretation, that when the jews were in the desert they let free annually a scapegoat representing their sins, and cut down a lamb. Amazing biblical tipology.

I disagree, Jesus Barabbas is the son, and Jesus christ the fraudster. They crucified Jesus Barabbas and set free Christ. In Matthew 24 Jesus barabbas said the great endtime deception would be that they call him Christ. He 3 times rebuked his disciples for calling him christ and told them never to tell anyone that.

I do certainly appreciate your insight on this topic. However I think I disagree a little on the how "bad" Barabbas was. Maybe it was not your intention at all but it does seem like you down play his criminal behavior. Peter in Acts 3:14-15 says " But you denied the Holy and Righteous One, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and you killed the Author of life, whom God raised from the dead. To this we are witnesses." So Peter calls him a murderer and I believe he truly was the "worst criminal". Yes, he was part of an insurrection, and yes, he may have been someone that some of the people liked but I don't believe it would've been a hard choice for the people. Jesus was a no brainer because He was really innocent and Barabbas was not.
Also, given the context of Matthew 27 I would say that Pilate was trying to get the crowd to pick Jesus by putting Him next to such a awful criminal. Pilate's wife even tells him to "have nothing to do with this righteous man (Jesus)" because she had a dream about Him that day. So, I think Pilate brought out his worst to try and sway the crowd away from Jesus. I believe that the fact that the crowd picked this criminal over Jesus shows the depravity of us as humans more than Satan trying to trick us into picking something that looks "good".
But I must say that I did really appreciate your video and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing another point of view. Definitely some food for thought. I hope you have a blessed day in the Lord!

I do not think he is trying to compare Barabas favorably to Jesus. Merely that Barabas, (which means son of the father), was the archetype messiah of the day; whereas Christ was the actual Messiah.
His talk highlights the difference between the two distinct types of Messiah expected from God to deliver them.
To the Jewish minds at the time, the death of Jesus reinforced that the Messiah wasn’t to be the rebel - fighting for the freedom of the Jews; but the lamb that was the true blood sacrifice, here to forgive sins and save man.

I think the Jews held him in high favor because he represented a means to an end for them. He was the means for Jews to, possibly, receive earthly glory & power. That’s totally different from what Jesus’ Mission is truly about. It’s about saving humanity as opposed to mere earthly rulership for vain power and glory.

I'm in agreement that Barabbas doesn't mean Son of God, but rather the son of a father. But, the juxtaposition of what the people were expecting versus what actually was as it pertains to the messiah is an interesting point. When I need an illustration of what the Jews were anticipating for a messiah I think of Superman. Written by two Jewish guys, giving him the name Kal El, with "el" in the Hebrew meaning "God". A super powerful warrior that would come and save humanity from itself and over throw the rulers of this world. That's Jesus' second coming, of course. What we see of Jesus' first coming is a far field of what the Jews were expecting, including His own followers and disciples. They were expecting the Superman listed above.

Great explanation of who Barabbas was. Although I would argue against your suggestion that the devil presented Barabbas as a distraction. That Barabbas was chosen to go free paved the way for Jesus to suffer on the cross for the sins of his people and fulfil the prophecies. Highly unlikely that the devil would choose to enable prophecies.

Could be a man that's crucified, but he wasn't the son of God, that one who they had called: 'the son of God' couldn't named jesus, because the name they found on the cross ended with the hebrew character; 'hay' , while Jesus name ends with the Hebrew character; 'Ayin'. The Jews looked to that cross and they saw God's Name , because the crucified person had the name: 'JeHUdaH', it was the twin brother of Jesus, son of Joseph.

  • @TheseusTitan
    @TheseusTitan 3 года назад +2

Some of this is a misinterpretation. “Abba” meaning father was never meant to be interpreted “Son of God”. Semitic cultures often name offspring “son of father” or “daughter of mother” (Bint). For the interpretation of Abba and taking it to Son of God is using a very large helping of creative license. You may want it to mean that but it doesn’t.

Ok, I feel like you’re trying to make Barabbas out to be a decent guy. The main point about this story is Jesus vs Barabbas or one could say the perfect sinless Lamb of God vs the Bandit which you specifically said yourself. Let’s look at the definition of a bandit by way of a quick google search.
    “ban·dit”
a robber or outlaw belonging to a gang and typically operating in an isolated or lawless area.
"the bandit produced a weapon and demanded money"
synonyms: robber, thief, outlaw, gunman, crook, mugger, gangster, raider, freebooter, hijacker, looter, marauder, bandito.
Not sure what your point is, but it’s clear that Jesus and Barabbas were total opposites and that Barabbas was a legit and rightful prisoner and Jesus was not. Yet, Jesus knew the will of the Father and he let the people free Barabbas. This was all part of His perfect plan and I thank the Lord that He shed his precious blood for us on that cross so that those of us who believe and put our trust in Jesus can be forgiven and have eternal life with Him forever.
    Thank you Jesus!

Hi thanks for your contribution. Was not making a judgement on whether Barabbas was good or bad was just showing that there was the type of messiah that the public expected and another type that Jesus was. Barabbas according to Mark was an insurrectionist:
"7 And there was one named Barabbas, which lay bound with them that had made insurrection with him, who had committed murder in the insurrection."
We use the word bandit today differently than they used it in Jesus' day. Today it means a robber etc. In that day it meant someone who was banned; an outlaw; a rebel.
      Thanks for your comment

Jesus Barabbas also known as Jesus the Egyptian was an insurrectionist who led 4000 men to the Mount of Olives to overthrow the Temple and the Romans. After fierce fighting, he managed to escape so they arrested someone else in his place and crucified him. because the Emperor ordered that 3 must be crucified for this crime. One of them was sacrificed. This is the one symbolized on the cross today.

It should be noted that the New Testament was never written as an historic account based upon facts, but the Gospels were written several years after events with no eyewitness accounts, so there can be no assumption of fact concerning these events. In addition, New Testament theology was written with the deliberate intention of inventing a theology to replace Judaism in order to assert the pagan Roman regime in the region. This has been the source of the virgin birth myth that is common to Roman paganism and completely opposite to Judaism in the belief of One God. If the supposed Jesus being Jewish who observed the Passover, observed Shabbat and kept Kosher, would never worship Moses as a substitute for God and rejection of the Ten Commandments. Also, to mention the authors of the Gospels are not actually known, in this connection to refer to Joseph Atwill and "Caesar's Messiah" concerning the role of the historian Flavius Josephus, War of the Jews, please see following link on RUclips: ruclips.net/video/zmEScIUcvz0/видео.html. In conclusion to mention that it has been on account of NT replacement theology that condemned the Jewish people to thousands of years of persecution and led to the Holocaust as the final solution, this is truly the work of Satan, not of God.

Why is it that you feel ok to take the liberty of defining the definition of ABBAS as God? The definition is without dispute if defined correctly as father. Whenever you use the word Father is it always defined and interchangeable with the word God? If not then why do you take the liberty in this case? I understand the desire to want to make a strong point but I think to make an accurate point without assumption, partiality or prejudice is far better. I hope you receive my criticism in the most positive light.

This is the same story where we are told in 2 Samuel 24:1 that the LORD [YHWH] was angry with his people...again... and enticed David to number them and then he killed 70,000 of the men David counted...how is that not evil? YHWH is not the same as the Father in Heaven as described by His son who told us that murder is wrong...even to hate. And the son also said that the Pharisees and scribes served the devil! And they worshiped YHWH since the first passover when he killed all those children.

I agree with most of these points but there's no way that the devil wanted the crucifixion to be carried out. He would have done everything in his power to have Barabbas or whoever else takes the place of Jesus so prophecy would not be fulfilled. Satan was defeated at the cross, so logically why would he want Jesus crucifixion to be carried out as planned?

The name Barabbas appears nowhere else in the New Testament, nor do any of the Gospels give any information about his previous or subsequent life. The name may be an Aramaic patronymic meaning “son of the father” (bar abba) or “son of the teacher” (bar rabban), indicating perhaps that his father was a Jewish leader.

In Pilates' hand there were two guys named Jesus. Jesus Barabas and Jesus who called Christ.
One was a good Jesus, a teacher. This was Jesus Barabas. The real Jesus.
Next Jesus was a bad guy. Who wanted to be a king. This Jesus was crucified.
Pilates' wife wanted the good Jesus to not be in jail. Because she had nightmare after Jesus Barabas put in jail.
The accusation against Jesus Barabas as a notorious prisoner was a prophecyzed fulfilled. Jesus Barabas said that in Luke 22:37.
If you agree that the real jesus was a good guy who didnot want to be a king, you must agree with me that Jesus Barabas was the one.

Jesus Barabbas means "son of the father", just like Jesus Christ is the "Son of man, and Begotten Son of God " Barabbas is the seed of the serpent who the Jews preferred to the Seed of the woman-Jesus. He was a murderer, like satan his father has been from the beginning. He was in lock up until Jesus Christ finished His work of Salvation and the Jews for whom He came, had rejected and condemned Him to death by crucifixion- an accursed death, in place of the one who really deserved it- Barabbas. But as soon as all those who live by believing in Him and have accepted Him as Lord and Savior and are sealed and filled and led by His Holy Spirit, are taken out of the world, the Jews will be presented with the anti or in- place- of- Christ, they had chosen and he will then show his true colors for 7.5 years. The temple will be rebuilt and he would present himself as their messiah, showing them his wounds and proof of his death and resurrection. That is why he hasn't been talked about since then, now the time is drawing near. Be not deceived. By their fruits, ye shall know them. Genesis 3:15, ; 1 John 3:10

    • @ronkebarber6238
      @ronkebarber6238 3 года назад +1

@Kenneth McRae Absolutely! Also, something came to mind: since satan is a liar and the father of it, he wasn't saying the truth about what he told Jesus in Luke 4:6. He already sold the right he snatched from Adam, to Jacob, now, he was frantically searching for the Seed of Man, the Son of God, and wanted Jesus to prove this to him, since there has been many who had come before Him and claimed to be the Messiah, the Son of David- rightful Heir to his throne, the Eternal Priest of God, the King of Israel Genesis 49:10; Matthew 27 and 28 proved all these when the temple curtain split into two, 3 hours, darkness thunderings and lightnings and earthquakes, graves burst open, and finally, He rose again from the dead!
The same reason satan possessed Judas, who incited the chief priests and elders, to come with weapons to arrest Jesus, just to get Him to prove Himself as the Messiah. They tortured Him and pushed so hard with mockery and shame, just for Him to get mad enough to prove Himself- outside of God's and His determined counsel, which would translate to Him being over God, when He is already God, thus spelling eternal doom for mankind! So, Jesus finally got all power in heaven, on earth and under the earth, also keys of hell and death delivered to Him Matthew 28:18. Thus, we who believe have also, by this, given authority to trample upon serpents, scorpions and all the power of the devil, and nothing shall by any means, hurt us, so we can boldly go and fulfill His last commission, without fear, until He returns as promised! Be encouraged!
