    If I could add one more thing, being self-critical of the editing process is important. How one chooses to edit the photo plays a role in how well it could sell. Edit the way you like, but keep in mind it could have an impact.

    Thanks for the shout, Lucy! Don't sell yourself short. We are just two different styles. The portraits I make are FAR from very sellable in the commercial sense and I find it quite hard myself to find an audience for them. I am definitely leaning more towards "the art collector" which will probably hurt me financially in the short term but will hopefully pay off down the road. But who knows. I am just trying to figure it out like anyone else. Haha

    Hi Lucy. Quickly, I do adore you before you put this in file thirteen and would like to pay something so please read to the end. I came upon your site purely by chance and as it is, used a Nikon D800 and about every other make until I gave it all away, at some stage or another. So on a further note asking with tears in my navy blue eyes, even more attention to search terms for purposes of our browsing will get you ten times more support because your stuff is way better than you give yourself credit for and I would like to see your art exposed like you deserve. Not only because you are very lovely but content and effort are superb, furthermore, your use of video is well balanced with beautiful interest and I liked the snippets about your partner and being a mommy too. Stick to sharing and don't lecture down and you will always be real like your photographs with its refreshingly honest voice. I haven't yet looked at all your videos and am already a fan. Also understanding that one wishes to own the site identity, but there are ways of referencing your partner that is also serious about photography and sharing this interest..
    However back to the point, during the last Nikon phase I also used an Olympus XZ (1) which to my regret I also gave away to someone then interested in photography but who then dumped it in a drawer never to see the light again (or replace a cellphone). But because I found I always had the XZ on me and nobody ever seemed to get that "camera in your face" feeling of irritation, I took beautiful memories for myself and everyone else and only used my Nikon stuff for more serious events. I also enjoyed the XZ so much that I promptly looked for a small replacement which became the much underrated Lumix gx85, a gem (still favored and used like the XZ as invisible man everywhere) and needless to say being impressed by its value and surprising detail and image quality, I bought all higher Olympus m43 bodies and lenses - enough to shame any shop in Japan, rationalizing my way to hell and back because the pro stuff is still big and obvious (and I have the tiny lenses in any case). But nobody makes better optics anywhere so there is that, despite sensor size etc. and I do take meaningfully and lovely stuff. So I will stay and continue my Olympus obsession because the lenses will be useful even when I translate into other dimensions, wings or horns not withstanding.
    I will sponsor a photograph which you don't have to send to me because of mailing schlep and uncertainties, maybe email stuff, but which I want to vote on, so send me a "Pay Request" via Paypal to jogey@mweb.co.za J GEYER as I can't figure out how to donate and I am sure many others would like to do the same. The photo I vote for is portrait Resurrection but I couldn't choose between Adore, Polaroid (or in actual fact any of the other ones, but differently). Just not sure If your partner took those I point out or whether any were, I want to believe, self-portraits. My vote is because all your photos and the "preset style" are intriguingly retro and absolutely distinct in style as well as totally beautiful and highly ready for the art wall. I would love to have all of them. The question here to any photographer is always "how many make it to the wall and not just the album" or worse.
    I certainly found Resurrection and also Adore etcetera similar very sensual as with your appearance in the visual media, my being a healthy evolved being and in fact appealing to all genders I spoke to (unless the person is dead), to get that out of the way but the greater reason is this. There is a life story in your headings and there is an intense sensitivity to something indescribably beautiful, along the lines of "The Unbearable Lightness of Being" and most certainly not overstated or controversial in any way whatsoever. Same with the photo by the river, one could show them to any age and it will invoke desirable responses. I would certainly encourage the wonderful creative expression you have given this, which most photographers do not seem to have a real artistic feeling for anymore, maybe because we now live in a world where tasteless, ugliness and grossness seem to cloud beautiful and pure. Something was most certainly lost that we need to restore again as human beings. Anyway, would love to see your partner, your baby(s) and most eagerly you in future. Peace.

    I had a look through your prints and saw one of you cooking at a stove - it made me think that you might suit a “1940’s Pinup” style series of portrait. Unfortunately, that would require an investment in a lot of clothes, shoes, styling for that era… Would look great in B/W and color. (Colour)

    Thanks for the advice! I just opened an account and made my gallery there, ordered some prints to check print quality and ordered a print from your shop as well :). I would've thought your shots in the "bangers" collection will sell more, than prints of pictures like Bryan ones. I think colours, textures, shapes and nice composition are more "hangable" on the wall than a stranger's face, and don't get me wrong I think his photography is awesome, but might be better presented/sold as a photo book or something like that? Idk Just my opinion. Thanks for this.

    Hello, I'm a photography lecturer in the UK and the specifications on my course have just changed and there's a big emphasis on the students doing something commercial and this might work in terms of them marketing and selling their work potentially? The only problem I can foresee is that some of them will still be under 18 and this website might require them to be 18 - do you know if that's the case?

    • @LucyLumen
      @LucyLumen  Год назад

      Hey Dave. I don’t think there would be any age resections for this website. I can’t see why there would be. You set up payment etc. and add in your details. I think it’s probably a lot safer than most social media really. Good luck I hope it helps some of them! Thanks for watching

      @@LucyLumen Ah! Thanks for replying! Yeah I set up an account myself and started to work through the process and I think you're right. There seems to be a suggestion that you need a Paypal account if you're going to actively sell your work, in which case they do have to be 18. But no matter what, I can get them to go through the whole process and have everything ready to go waiting for their 18th birthday if that is an issue. Those that are 18 can start selling! Either way it'll allow them to meet their learning outcomes and address the criteria - which is all good. Thanks for the replying and that's a great video, I'll be showing them all soon encouraging them to subscribe as your content is really good, they may take a lot more notice of you as your so much younger than me and they see me as an old git!
