One tailgate LED just gone dark and your clip turned up FIRST on RUclips search! Great info! Thanks! Now wondering if to solder (with possible overheating and melting connector…etc) or not to solder (replace the entire driver board…Amazon? or EBay? or Alibaba? Any link you have?)
@@valiantsyed8075 I suggest replacing the driver ... ruclips.net/user/redirect?event=comments&redir_token=QUFFLUhqbDY3R1hjZTh0czZkdUFQN3BxTGpraUY1Y0c1d3xBQ3Jtc0ttd1FlQnpSLTZxUEVWTzFaYk9mZkNnOHJETG9nN2tZdjhoTG5WdmVRUFV3YkEwTl9YOTJ2SVVYMGFVVHRhOUtwWTEwTjZTQzhyeFU2MnRLdUpnVmV0SmxxMVVlZzBQcER4dEZ2TmtFMkNEYllzcG9RSQ&q=https%3A%2F%2Fxenons4u.co.uk%2Fbmw-x3-f25-led-tail-light-repair-replacement-driver-board-for-valeo-b0038092.html&stzid=UgyjCpzbrXWjnJTopGx4AaABAg
In the past I read and watched a lot of videos on how to fix this, I did not even need to watch this video to the end. Clear, straightforward, most helpful, it took me 7 minutes to sort 🙏
This is an excellent video. The first time my X3 backup lights failed, I was able to repair just by cleaning oxidation off all the contacts. Just recently one failed, and it turned out to be R750 chip resistor. I reflowed the solder very carefully and it is working! Now I can get the car inspected. Thank you.
You saved me $30 bucks from buying a new one suggested in other videos so thanks a lot! Mine had a crack in the exact spot yours did and was really hard to see. I took a pic and zoomed in on it then it was clear to see. Soldered it up and it worked!
Great video!
I just replace all four on my 2015 X3.and did all 4 in less than 1 hour.
Thanks man!!
Saved me a lot of $$$ on that one!!
Your method worked perfectly for me. Thanks a lot!
I have repaird my car with this help. Thank you so much for this video.
You're a lifesaver! Thank you so much! Just did it and worked on my X3 F25 2012
Damn, that was waaay easier than I thought it'd be. Thanx man!
Thanks man. Easy repair and saves me a few $$.
Life saver you are!!! May you be forever blessed!!!
Ken Boone thanks mate I appreciate it 👍👍👍
Great, well done, thank you very much for showing how to fix it! 😀
Thank you SO much for sharing this video. Currently have this issue, and BMW wants $1,100 for the part. Thanks to this video, we are going to do it ourselves.
👍👍👍
Absolutely appreciate the vid.
You definitely helped my situation
awesome mate 👍👍👍
Thanks mate, just sorted mine out with the help of this video.
Thank you, I followed your instructions
Great help!! Fixed mine!!
That's a lot of circuitry to power a side light. Nice work, always nice to be able to repair rather than replace 😎
Hello Badger, Absolutely 😊 cheers mate 👍
Great vids mate keep up the good work 👍
Cheers mate much appreciated 👍👍👍
Thank you a ton! Fixed my car for free!

Worked for me, thanks!
Saw this today, followed the instructions and it worked ..... 🙂
I’m glad it worked 👍👍👍... Where about are you ? I’ve got 4 new led drivers here from a company and needing to make a vídeo .
Thank you! It works on my X3!
Excelente video gracias por compartir
I nearly spend £250 on a new inner and outer taillight till I watched this vid. £23 later (off eBay) and they’re both fixed. Thanks for this vid. Much appreciated
Pleasure sir 👍
Thank you for you advice
Worked! 2013 X3 x-drive35 Msport
Very Nice....It did help me !!
things small much appreciated.... thx for watching 👍
Top advice
Nice one bro!
Great vid I did not know this myself so thanks
Easy fix in the end mate 😊, very common issue cheers 👍👍👍
fixed my car thanks, I did not have any soldering tools I just heated a small screw driver and heated the both end of resistor and worked!
afshin502 cool my type of guy 😊👍👍👍
Nice job 👍👍
FredericoNery thx mate 👍
People help, do not hide, do not hide. Thank you from the heart.
got the same problem and fixed it; thank you!!
Cool I’m glad the video helped !!! Thanks mate I really appreciate it 👍👍👍
Kesinlikle işe yarıyor lehim işi yapan her hangi bir elektrikçide radyo televizyon tamircisinde yaptırabilirsiniz masraftan kurtardı
Worked for me, thanks
Scottie Kilmer Nice 👍
Excellent video. I was able to fix mine using your method. I reflowed without removing the board from the assembly.Thanks.
Cool bud I’m glad the video helped... 👍👍👍
Thanks!!!
thanks for the troubleshoot guide, its funny bc even though its LED the e46 had a similar brake PCB board, and mine got coroded and i made a wire fix this just helped me figure out why my buddys x3 f25 rear brake light isnt illuminating
😁👍👍👍
Funny you say that, I too had this issue on my e46 and also made a wire fix. This also helped me figure out why my 2013 128i lights are out..
please tell me Do you think this could be the same problem on my Bmw x6 2009?
Thank you so much sir!
Most welcome!
Thank you so much!!!
pleasure sir 👍
worked for me to! didnt have to buy a whole new light - no additional trash - good for the environment ;-)
👍👍👍👍
Such a great video! Unfortunately, I am working on the same X3 type in the video. All 4 tailights have been workin for years. I took them out and to my surprise not one of them has a PCB board from your video, just light bulbs. There is not even a slot for that circuit board. Any help with this? Im lost. All bulbs were replaced. Still nothing. Please help.
Would this be the same fix for LED tail lights of a 2014 BMW X5? (Taillights look almost exactly the same)
Thanks man. I fixed one of my leds your way, even though I've ordered a new one.
George Momchilov cool 😎, you are welcome bud 👍👍👍
Can you please create a video showing how to change the daytime running light for bmw x3
Just tried this on my parents car and got the 3 broken ones working, saved them the 1200$ the shop was charging for 4 new taillights. Thanks allt dude!
Awesome dude for better results remove the old solder completely and use a more soft solder ... I have a video coming up in the next few days with a better solution replacing the driver itself for around £35 each
can you be the same at Bmw x6 2008 ???
It worked perfectly. 👍. Tnx man
Fredrik Ryding 👍👍👍
Thank you for the video, my rear light stay on and drain the battery
2005 bmw x3
I replaced the switch it's still stay on
I’ve all three lights out in the exact same position. Will try this out and see
Going to try this on my inner rear light on F11. With the resistor, after cleaning up am I just dropping a dab or solder over it to bridge any hairline cracks? Sorry I haven’t got a clue when it comes to electrics but worth a chance to save a hundred quid!
Great help! You saved me 40€... I would be happy to buy you some beers, if I could 😉
40 euros? My bmw dealer said the whole taillights needed to be replaced which cost around 150 plus vat each (x4) so I've saved 600 euros
Any idea when ur fob not starting n locking ur X3
저기 라이트에 들어가는 led driver 칩은 아무제품이나 상관없을가요??
Hi,
Good video!
Both my rear LED lights failed recently. Took your advice and tried to replace both LED circuit boards x1 worked perfect, where as the other x1 did not.
I have been advised that it could be the actual LED/light unit itself being faulty on the wiring and that I may need to purchase a new unit for about £100 each.
Is the above advise correct ?
Before replacing the PCB, check for continuity on the bulb holder especially near the contacts + & - out to the PCB and lens.
Great Job, I'll try on 3 of them...
👍👍👍
@@CarsExposed it works, all LEDs are back to work - you're really great! Many thanks!!
@@ArseinLupin excellent good job👍👍👍
Thanx! Fixed it myself! 19,99 € instead of 380€( that's what BMW told me).
👍👍👍🙌
The Chip you showed said 750 on the tail light outers is the chip still 750 for the inner lights you did on the second round
I got this problem !
Good one, just manage to open the 2 series rear light on the chasis, undo the twisted part of connection and holla. £300 saved. Lol - Anything on 2 series how to open the rear lights would be great.
What is it you soldered ? My left rear parking light is out :(
Good job and you reminded me I'm out of flux! 😂 Will you guys be changing all your licence plates for non EU ones?
Niamh Healy 🤣🤣🤣 ... that’s a good question Niamh, I would thought that we would have to, what a pain 😧 😜👍
Similar problem with my X5 2011 inner tail gate LED´s. Probably it could be solved with a constant current chip like LDD300L. But what is the current on X5´s LED?
Örjan Fredriksson Yeap that was suggested in one of the comments... im sorry But I’m sure about the current on the led
The LED tail lights are problematic on many BMWs, the E92 models have a slightly different circuit design but the faults still are caused by dry joints,
LED light are rarely faulty it's usually the circuit board.
Exactly. Same as in my E60. And gotta crack open the tail lights to fix it too. Well better than spending a lot of money to replace the whole assembly I guess.
Hi ! If I understand your vidéo I only have to re-sold the résistance ?? Don’t need to change it or anything ??
That’s right, most of the time the only problem is a cracked set leering joint .👍
Good video
I have a probleme with my indicators in the rear lights of my bmw 2 series
But i dont think i can reach the print plate ?
What to do now?
If you can get to the board probably a new light assembly I’m afraid
@@CarsExposed
Well the light is 1 unit sow no acces is possible but Bmw gave me a new light under waranty
Thank god
I could solve the problem just as you did?
The problem that I have in the taillights is that the presence lights are not working ,but if I brake it works … can this problem
Come from a fuse ?
Hi I'm just wondering if it is the chip that is faulty, should the reverse light not work as well? My reverse LED does not come on but Reverse Light does when I put the car into reverse. THanks
The reverse light is in a different circuit 👍
I have the same problem at Bmw x6 2008 you think it would be the same problem
I never done a X6 but I would thought that’s the same, just check if is the same led driver, if it is will be the same issue
Does both the inner and outter LED use it?
Dr Dwg yeap 👍
You put your steering wheel on the wrong side Mate... thanks for the tail light fix,
how do we know for sure that it's the board and not the bulbs???
A really easy way to test without any special tool would be: test power and ground first from those 2 point that i showed 2:54 , if you have power and ground swap the board from the side that is not working for the one that it is, if the light start working you know is the board if it doesn't you know is the led ... 👍
Now i am going to do the same
But i bought 2 new circuit boards for $27 each
Is the right n left pcb the same?
Yes sir they are all the same
except the 2014 i have doesnt use a chip/
Excellent it is easy to buy this circuit? Thanks
i found one on Amazon it seems to be a superseded unit check it out amzn.to/2FnR9Dm
Did you loosen the panel first some how? Mine seems like it would break if opened
Also is this the brake light? That's what I need
Do you mean the panel covering the 2 screws?
Jennifer Rhodes the brake light is the bottom bulb just a normal bulb not led .
Cars Exposed yes
Cars Exposed do you have a demonstration for the brake light?
Both your hatch leds are out 😂
Will this work on bmw 520D f10
Manish Bodar I’m quite sure the 520 has the same led PCB, so yes it would work 👍
Light is totally sealed I think have to open it with heat gun
Manish Bodar possibly !!! Can you send some pictures by email carsexposed@yahoo.com
Video did not show how to take off tailgate brake light lamp!
This is a common problem with some led's for BMW. It's a bad design which overheats and causes the solder joints to dry. There is an aftermarket connector which is much better than the original but I'm damned if I can find the details now..
edit.. Found it: www.ledsupply.com/blog/common-bmw-led-tail-light-fix/
So Wht is the better method? Re solder the resister and then replace the connector with this at the same time? Since re solder the resistor is just a temporary measure hence will heat up?
A lighter and a screw edge and fixed
Nice 👍👍👍👍
hi I just watched your video fixing BMW X3 brake it was how can I say a bit long anyway right at the end you had a afterthought and noticed the inner brake light wasent COMMING on so as I said a very long VID BUT now your fixing the inner brakelight you rushed it and then you DIDENT show us that you had fixed it ? I'm very sorry but I'm NOT running you down I hope you take it the way I wanted you to and that was the only thing wrong with it everything else was very good, thanks mate keep going on with the vids they help stupid people like me TRY and fix it instead of paying loads as I'm disabled I allways think garage people put on a little extra knowing I won't complain,I'm looking around for a new garage and then ill let his boss know why I'm going to use a different garage, any way I'm so sorry I've got carried away with wrighting. all the best, MICK
Mine doesn’t have that circuit board it’s just bulbs
maybe it was taking out
But on the real let's trade rhd for lhd x3's. Everyone in America would be like OMG. Loool
🤣🤣🤣
My soldering skills suuuuuuuck!!!! =(
Thomas EXOVCDS 😁... Well I’m getting back into it, it’s like the old saying, the more you practice the luckier you get, I qualified in mechanics and electronics 20 years ago but then went to University to do business admin 🤦♂️... go and figure 😜. Anyway now doing what I always loved to do, catching up watching you guys cheers Thomas 👍
Dont do this fix i did it 3 years ago when i bought my F25 and it fails i did it a couples of times more and it burned out the connector which needs now more work and is expensive i suggest the led driver from hyperlight which is 15 dollars you just plug it and it has been working for 2 years now
Vilson Simoni thanks for the hyperlight recommendation bud 👍
thought this would be something simple :(
Is not too difficult , you can buy the led drivers on amazon which is plug and play ... amzn.to/3dDdrRg Just make sure it’s your year and model 👍
@@CarsExposed thank you
고마워 너 덕분에 분해할수있었어
Too bad you left out the uninstall of the inner light... I'm trying to figure out what this guy did at the 8.06 mark... He seems to be breaking off a tab to get the board out! ruclips.net/video/CkPOqqSP6vE/видео.html
ItsLotus99 Sorry bud I left that bit out, the inner led board are held by some melted plastic which is part of the light assembly, I had to do the same thing that you see in this guy video . Cheers 👍
Cars Exposed Thanks for confirming that. And the new board stays in just fine, or did you have to add some glue or anything?
No worries mate sorry about the delay... I used some black liquid tape afterwards it hardens pretty well keeping the board in situ 👍
Cars Exposed cool, never heard of that product. Was just going to use a dab of superglue or from a glue gun. That should also work?
It will do fine is just to keep the board from sliding out, I would suggest to using the glue gun 👍👍👍 ... Liquid tape is a great product to repair wires normally, have a look at this video min 8:40 ruclips.net/video/YUfbnsjswRw/видео.html cheers mate
R750 = 0.75ohm
Zinetic that’s correct 👍... my mistake typing
@@CarsExposed but, its a good video !! Will help a lot of people!
Cheers mate I appreciate it 👍
can you be the same at Bmw x6 2008 ???
@@Zinetic ya. It help lots of ppl. So is 0.75ohm instead of 75? I saw another pic in the thread saying 1w 75ohm. Is it better to chg the resistor since going to solder Bcos the resistor are cheap
They make the light so freaking cheap but a fucking fortune to replace them...smh
